Alfred White

Odessa - Alfred White, 75, of Odessa passed away Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born August 18, 1930 in the Republic of Panama.
He married the love of his life, Essie M. Bluitt on August 5, 1965, in Abernathy, TX, and the following illustrates the full and wonderful life of Alfred White, the minister, the husband, the father and grandfather.
The minister:
Alfred White accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1960. He committed himself to winning souls for Christ which was his daily mission. As a true man of God, Alfred took the charge from Christ to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to every living creature” to heart and won many souls for Christ. He delivered the message of salvation to Churches of Christ across the United States, as well as in his home country of Panama. He led numerous campaigns and attended services and mission trips which resulted in souls won for Christ. Alfred fed the hungry, visited the sick and shut-ins, consoled the bereaved, counseled the distressed and loved unconditionally.
In the Fall of 1997, his greatest desire was realized when he became an Elder for the Sherwood Church of Christ where he served until he was called home to be with his brothers in Christ.
The family man:
Alfred was a loving, devoted husband to his wife of 40 years, Essie M. White. Together, they raised a family which includes one son, five daughters, eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
As a family man, Alfred had a sense of humor unlike any other. With his Panamanian accent, and his direct to the point communication, Alfred brought laughter to all he came in contact with.
Alfred was a selfless, giving man who would not only give his last dollar, but would also lend an ear to anyone who just needed a friend to talk to.
He celebrated many wonderful anniversaries with his wife Essie, celebrated numerous birthdays with his children and grandchildren and he shared loving relationships with his parents, brothers and sisters, no matter the distance between them.
A wife lost her husband, his children have lost their father, his grandchildren have lost a grandfather, yet, in the midst of all the sadness, we celebrate his life for we know it’s because of Alfred we are here.
He worked in shipping and receiving for Texas Instruments for ten years and was a substitute teacher in Ector County for fifteen years.
