Sylvia Carrillo
Sylvia Carrillo of Lubbock departed this life on Oct. 4, 2008, at the age of 43 years. She was born on July 29, 1965, to Simon Carrillo and Guadalupe Ybarra in Levelland. Sylvia was a phone representative at Convergys in Lubbock. She attended Smyer High School. Sylvia is survived by her husband of 26 years, Jesse Suarez.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jesse Suarez of Lubbock; five brothers, Rick Carrillo, Tony Carrillo of Anton, Eloy Carrillo of San Angelo, Ruben Carrillo of McAllen and Arnold Carrillo of Lorenzo; three sisters, Cris Carrillo, Estella Carrillo of Anton and Esmerelda Carrillo of Lubbock.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at White Funeral Home in Lubbock. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Oct. 8, 2008, at White Memorial Chapel in Lubbock. Mass will be 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at St Anthony's Catholic Church in Anton. Interment will follow at the Anton Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home of Lubbock.
Ocie Lee Wilson
Ocie Lee Wilson, 77, of Lubbock passed away Wednesday, Oct.1, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center. She was born Sept.13, 1931, to Homer and Laura Eddington. She was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church and sang in the choir for many years. She had her own janitorial business. She leaves to cherish her memory her companion, Henry Stephenson; one daughter, Karen Isaac (Kenneth); two sons, Herman, Jr. (Shadda) and Charles Wilson; two sisters, Mae Lewis and Martha Dupree; one stepsister, Annie Bennett; grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at St. Matthew Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Peaceful Garden Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.
Visitation will be held at Griffin Mortuary from 1-4 p.m. today.
Joe Rainer
Joe Rainer, 64, of Floydada, passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at his residence. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at Floyd County Memorial Park with Rev. Anthony Sisemore and Rev. Mike Holster officiating. Services are under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada. The family will greet friends from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday morning at the funeral home.
Joe Carroll Rainer was born Dec. 8, 1943, in Lubbock to A.C. Rainer and Myrtice (Hancock) Rainer. He married Becky Via on July 6, 1990, in Floydada. Joe was a farmer and rancher. He primarily grew cotton and wheat. When not working, he enjoyed reading western books and watching western movies. He also liked to hunt and fish and enjoyed camping. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Floydada.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Survivors include his wife of over 18 years, Becky Rainer of Floydada; his two daughters, Sharla Rainer of Fort Worth and Shelli Hill and husband Lyndon of Ft. Worth; two brothers, Bobby Rainer and wife Noma Lou of Floydada and Don Rainer of Floydada; and his faithful companion, Bubba'.
Memorial donations may be made to the Floyd County Museum and Historical Society or to the Floydada E.M.S.
Jo Gene Blackwell
Funeral services for Jo Gene Blackwell, 63, of Bovina will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Friona with Rev. Steve Patterson, Methodist minister from Dalhart and Leon Talley, minister of the 6th St. Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in the Friona Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home.
She went to be with her Lord early Sunday morning, Oct.5, 2008. She was born March 10, 1945, in Buna Vista to Joseph and Shirley Tate Matson. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1963. She married John R. Blackwell on March 2, 1963, in Amarillo. She moved to Muleshoe in 1963 from Amarillo. She was employed by West Plains Hospital and on June 1, 1971 she received her Nursing Home Administrators license and was named the assistant administrator of the Hospital and Muleshoe Nursing Home. On April 1, 1980, she moved to Friona and on Aug. 24, 1980, she was named Administrator of Prairie Acres Nursing Home, a position she held until July of this year when she accepted the position of Administrator of Park View Nursing home in Muleshoe until her death. She moved to Bovina in Aug. of 1997.
She and her husband owned Blackwell Funeral Home in Friona and she became a licensed Funeral Director on Dec. 5, 2006. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Friona and taught Sunday School in the 3, 4, and 5-year-olds for over 20 years. She was a past member of the ESA sorority, Texas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. She started the Empty Stocking Fund to aid children who could not afford Christmas and headed that for many years. She also headed the Parmer County Child Welfare board since the early 1980's.
Survivors include her husband, John; two daughters, Melanie Montoya and husband Mark of Glendale, Ariz., and Marcia Brown of Bovina; her mother, Shirley Parrack of Grand Island, Neb.; two sisters, Carol Rowell of Grand Island, Neb., and Darlene Barnes of La Marque; three half-sisters, Shirlene Christal of Conroe, Rossi Nelson of Palm Springs, Calif. and Jocelyn Rodriguez of Harlingen; one step-brother, Kelley Parrack of Amarillo; and five grandchildren, Brittany, Blake and Brennen Montoya and Brea and Brooklynn Brown.

Ethyl Cox Campbell
Loys passed away Oct. 5, 2008, in Childress. She had lived in Matador, Gail, and Vealmoor and Hedley for many years. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at the East Mound Cemetery with her nephews, Carl Cox and Don Cox officiating.
Loys was born on June 8, 1926, to Francis and Lee Ashcraft Cox. She was married W.O. Cox on Feb. 2, 1946; W.O. preceded her in death in December of 1973. She later married Joe Campbell who preceded her in death in November 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Pick Cox in September of this year, and Thomas Cox, Jr. in September 1991.
She was a member of The Hedley Baptist Church and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Matador. She was an avid golfer and loved it until her health prevented her from being able to participate.
She is survived by her sisters-in-laws, Laqueta Cox of Hedley, Amy Cox of Victor, W.V., Dorothy Russell of Matador and Leona Terry of Matador; nieces, Sondra and husband Ronald Hatcher, Jeanette and husband Jerry Wagner, Linda and husband Morris Crump, Lucy and husband Joe Poole, Marilynn and husband Randy Hicks, Linda and husband Tom Roy, Caron and husband Jesse Perkins and Dea Coleman; nephews, Carl and wife Christy Cox, Don and wife Dee Cox, Ronnie and wife Shelley Cox, John Douglas and wife DeAnna Russell, Tim and wife Linda Cox, and David Cox; special friends, Dorothy Day, Evelyn Garrison and Glenna Dean Williams; and a host of great and great great-nieces, nephews and friends.
Loys had requested that in lieu of flowers donations be to Matador Senior Citizens, East Mound Cemetery, or a charity of your choice.
Shirley Ann Brownlow Igo
Shirley Ann Brownlow Igo passed away June 13, 2008 at home in Plainview. She was born to Violet Clay and Frances Kenneth Brownlow in Kenedy on Feb. 20, 1935. She attended Kenedy schools and graduated from Texas Woman's University, Denton. She married Wayne Merwyn Igo in Kenedy on August 3, 1957.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a brother, Frances Kenneth Brownlow, Jr.
Survivors include five children and spouses, Marci Lyn Brown of Plainview; Shanna Gay Igo and husband Kevin Fleming of Austin; Kevin Wayne Igo and wife Roxie Ann of Plainview; Mandy Sue Goodwin and husband Tom of Friendswood; and Robert Joe Igo and wife Amy of Austin. Other survivors include 12 grandchildren; Garrett, Katelyn, and Dustin Brown of Plainview; Jesse and Jaxon Igo-Fender of Austin; Jessica, Clay, and Meagan Igo of Plainview; Turner, Marley, and Meranda Goodwin of Friendswood; and Claire Igo of Austin; a brother, Keith Brownlow and wife Sandra of Timpson; brother-in-law, Dorman Igo and wife Mary of Lubbock; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Igo of Riverside, Calif.; 10 nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Garland Street Church of Christ in Plainview. She had served as president of both Texas PTA and National PTA.
For those of you who knew her, you won't be surprised that she specifically requested a graveside service. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2008 at Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors.
A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview.

Mark Francis Blodgett, Jr.
Mark Francis Blodgett, Jr., 69, died Sunday, September 21, 2008, after a short battle with cancer. Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Friday, September 26 in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Resthaven. His wife, Carron Thomson Blodgett, survives Mark. The memorial service for Mark will be in Waco on September 28 at Temple Rodef Sholom.
Marky Anthony Benitez, Jr.
Funeral services for Marky Anthony Benitez, Jr. will be 10 a.m. today at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Father Martin Pina officiating. Burial will be at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Richard Calvillo and Calvillo Funeral Home Staff. Marky passed away Monday, September 22, 2008. He was born July 18, 2008 to Mark Anthony Benitez and Jessica Guerrero.
He was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Linda Sigala in 2002.
Survivors include his parents, both of Lubbock; a brother, Adrian Guerrero of Lubbock; paternal grandparents, Mario and Lupe Benitez of Lubbock; maternal grandparents, Jose Luis Ordaz and Patricia Moreno, both of Lubbock; paternal great-grandmother, Andrea Trevino of Lubbock; three aunts, Christy Moreno, Lisa Garcia, and Cindy Benitez, all of Lubbock; two uncles, Jose Guerrero and Joe Trevino, both of Lubbock; and a host of great-uncles and aunts.
Willie H. Foster
Willie H. Foster, 73, of Brownfield, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at Covenant. He was born in Mexia to Cain Foster and Shavania Bean on Jan. 19, 1935. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Lorine Foster; his children, Buddy Lawrence, Kenneth Lawrence, Darnell Foster, Johnny Foster, Lou Gene Foster, Christ Foster, Rosie Mary Lawrence, Ruby Foster, Brenda Foster, Iva Foster, and Tina Foster; his brothers, George Foster, Houston Cumming, Jr.; sisters, Maudie Solids, Bertha Davis, Virginia Brown and Vester Finney; 48 grandchildren; 114 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be 2 p.m today at Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Brownfield. Burial will follow at Brownfield Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.
William Bill Knox
William "Bill" Knox passed away Aug. 22, 2008, at his residence in Bryan. He was born July 17, 1950, in Seagraves to the late John H. Knox and Gladys Harpold Knox, longtime residents of Denver City. Bill grew up in Denver City, attending Denver City schools, graduating high school with the class of 1968. After high school he attended Lubbock Christian University. He lived in Dallas for several years and was employed with McShanes Floral. In 1991 he moved to Lubbock and continued his creative floral designs with College Flowers. In 1999 he moved to the College Station-Bryan, Texas area, first working with Edelweiss flowers, and later joining the Nita's Flowers Family, where he was employed at the time of his death. Bill was a very highly known and praised floral designer.
Survivors include his brother, Henry Don Knox and wife Teddie of Denver City; one nephew, John H. Knox of Atlanta, Ga.; one niece, Donnell King and husband Jeremie of Kingsville; and several cousins, aunts and uncles.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at the Denver City Church of Christ at 3rd and Avenue C in Denver City with Skip Rogers, assisted by Chip Bennett officiating.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the American Kidney Foundation, American Diabetes Foundation or the New Mexico Christian Childrens Home in Portales, N.M.
