Marky Anthony Benitez, Jr.
Rosary for Marky Anthony Benitez, Jr., will be 7 p.m. today at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday with Father Martin Pina officiating. Burial will be at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Richard Calvillo and Calvillo Funeral Home Staff. Marky passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008. He was born on July 18, 2008, to Mark Anthony Benitez and Jessica Guerrero, both of Lubbock.
He is preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Linda Sigala, in 2002.
Survivors include his parents both of Lubbock; a brother, Adrian Guerrero of Lubbock; his paternal grandparents, Mario and Lupe Benitez of Lubbock; his maternal great-grandparents, Jose Luis Ordaz and Patricia Moreno, both of Lubbock; an aunt, Christy Moreno of Lubbock; an uncle Jose Guerrero of Lubbock; and a host of great-uncles and aunts.
Margaret Lynn McCulloch
Margaret Lynn McCulloch, 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 17, 2008, in Phoenix after a lengthy illness.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel, with the funeral at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. McCulloch was born Margaret Lynn Putman on July 25, 1924, in Purdon to Edgar L. and Eva C. Putman. She was married to Eber John Neely from 1947 until his death in 1958. She then was married to Joseph Lawrence McCulloch from 1960 until his death in 1975.
Survivors include two sons, Nuane N. Neely and wife Genie of Roswell, Ga., and Joseph R. McCulloch and wife Sherri of Phoenix; four grandchildren, Niclaire and Kyle Neely of Roswell, Ga., and Emily and Matthew McCulloch of Phoenix; and a brother, Clark Putman of Navarro Mills.
Luther G. Hendrick
Luther G. Hendrick, 91, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, in Lubbock. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at Memory Gardens in Amarillo. Dr. Steve McMeans, Pastor, Indiana Avenue Baptist Church of Lubbock, will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 25, at Memorial Park Funeral Home of Amarillo.
Luther was born Aug. 1, 1917, in Santo, where he attended school. He served as a security officer at the ship-building yards in California during World War II, after which he moved his family to Amarillo. He lived in Amarillo for almost 50 years, retiring from Pantax Ordnance Plant, later moving to Lubbock. He was a member of Bykota Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; one sister; and his wife of 63 years, Ruby Hendrick.
He is survived by son, Doug Hendrick and wife Charlette of Lubbock; daughter, Brenda Scott and husband Tabor of Fort Worth; four grandchildren, Trent Hendrick and wife Shelby of Shallowater, Keely Harral and husband Geof of Lubbock, Kendre Mariano and husband Eric of Mansfield, and Conn Flowers and wife Danielle of Dallas; eight great-grandchildren, Abby, Brody and Chloe Hendrick, Audrey and Ellyse Harral, Gage and Lily Mariano, and Kayce Flowers, of College Station; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Lubbock Chapter, 8008 Slide Road #12A, Lubbock, Texas 79424.
Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Park Funeral Home of Amarillo.
Kenneth Noel Stalnaker
Kenneth Noel Stalnaker, 53, died on September 23 at University Medical Center after a short illness. He was born April 22, 1955, in Tulsa, Okla., and moved to Lubbock with his family in 1958. Kenny graduated from Monterey High School and attended Texas Tech. Most of his working career was spent in the rent-to-own business.
Kenny was a very gentle spirit with a quiet presence and kind, generous thoughts for everyone he met. His daughter, Katie Rose, was the light of his life, and his son, James (Bubba), was his closest friend and supporter. He survived 53 years with four sisters who were always telling him what to do. His passions in life were riding bicycles and watching sports. Some of his favorite memories were long bikes trips with friends to Colorado and New Mexico, family celebrations, and time with his children.
Kenny is survived by two children, Katharine Rose Stalnaker and James Elmer Stalnaker; his twin sister, Judith Kim Yandell and husband Lonnie; and three older sisters, Patricia Jane Clements and husband Cliff, Mary Susan Hyman and husband Mike, and Barbara Jean Cherry and husband Mike. He is also survived by many favorite nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Marjorie Stalnaker; and a sister, Nancy Ann Stalnaker.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 26th at Bowman Chapel of First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Chapman officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Second Helpings Program at First United Methodist Church, 1411 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401.
Jerry Don Roedler
Celebration of life services for Jerry Don Roedler, 65, of Lubbock will be 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with Dr. Curtis Sellers officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Jerry Don was born June 20, 1943, in Merkel to J.D. and Lera (Webb) Roedler. He graduated Levelland High School. Jerry Don married Frances Joyce Wheat on March 15, 1964. He was area manager for Morton Food in Galveston, and had also been employed by Mrs. Baird's Bread. Jerry's Christian beliefs were founded by the Nazarene Church Jerry Don was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Roedler.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Lera; three daughters, Melanie and Archie, Tonia and Felix, and Devon and Scott; grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin, Ashley, Jr., Amanda, Cody, and Jacob; and great-granddaughter, Lera.
Margie Crump
Services for Margie Crump, 91, of Ralls will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 12, 2008 in the Ralls First Baptist Church with Rev. Floyd Haddock, Rev. Larry Carson, and Rev. Ken Bevel officiating. Burial will follow in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Margie passed away Thursday, October 9, 2008 at VistaCare Center in Lubbock. She was born July 16, 1917 in Paris, Texas to the late George M. and Lizzie Elizabeth (Vails) James. On July 20, 1935 she married Edmond Crump in Floydada. He passed away on March 20, 2007.
Margie was a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church and a homemaker. She loved being outdoors. Margie also enjoyed quilting and was a former member of the Prairie Thimble quilting club. Margie and Edmond were honored as the Ralls Chamber of Commerce Mr. and Mrs. Cotton Boll in 1999. Her family was very special to her.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Dan James in 1993.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Roye and husband Dwight of Ralls; Ruth McMillan of Arlington; two grandsons and their wives, Bart and Tami Roye of Ransom Canyon; Barron and Kandra Roye of Ralls; four great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Roye, Lindsi Roye, Brinson Roye, and Kensley Roye.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 p.m. to service time at the church.

Maria Carrillo
Funeral services for Maria Carrillo, 69, of Lubbock will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Andres Mendoza officiating. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Burial will be at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
Mrs. Carrillo passed away Thursday, October 9, 2008 at home. She was born on December 20, 1938 in Los Bażżos Balleza, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Mrs. Carrillo was a strong loving mother, full of joy and loved her sons, daughters, and grandchildren.
Survivors include five daughters, Rosa Saenz, Maria Galvan, Liliana Saenz, Margarita Carrillo, and Veronica Carrillo; two sons, Aurelio Saenz and Jesus Carrillo, Jr.; 19 grandchildren; four sisters, Maximina Levario, Teresa Martinez, Omelia Chavez, and Bertha Saenz; and three brothers, Celestino Saenz, Jesus Manuel Saenz, and Eduardo Saenz, Jr.

Patrick Anthony Lopez
Patrick Anthony Lopez, 34, of Lubbock went to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 8, 2008. Viewing will be today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rix Funeral Directors, 1901 Broadway and Ave. S, with memorial service at 2 p.m. in the Majestic Center, 303 40th St.
Patrick was born to Ben and Francis Lopez of Lubbock on September 20, 1974. He is survived by daughters, Meagan and Destiny of Lubbock; sister, Malissa and brother-in-law Steven Reyna of Hart; Brian Lopez of San Antonio; Eric and Lissa Lopez of Lubbock; and grandma, Rebecca and George Rodriguez. He was greeted by his grandpa, Ysabel Lopez, and grandpa, Jesus and grandma Gregoria Escamilla. He had four nephews, three nieces, and numerous aunts and uncles. He was a loving father, son, brother and friend.
Velma McNabb Fletcher
Velma McNabb Fletcher and her twin sister Zelma were born April 4, 1915 on Easter Sunday. She was the seventh of 13 children born to Walter and Callie McNabb in Bowie.
Velma graduated from Southland High School as valedictorian. Her father signed her diploma as the School Board President. She won a scholarship to attend Mary Hardin Baylor College.
Velma married Frank Fletcher July 2, 1935. She raised six children and they published many small town newspapers.
Later, Velma ran a country store and lunch counter on the yard of Buster's Gin until her kids were older. Then she went back to school and graduated with her son and with honors from Texas Tech University.
In December of 1961, Velma helped establish a family newsletter called the McNabb Gab, which is still going and has a circulation of around 200 copies per month.
After college, Velma worked her way up to being the head dietician at Baylor College of Medicine. After the Lubbock tornado she moved back to Lubbock to be near her family. In Lubbock she took the job of head dietician at West Texas Hospital.
After retiring from there she became a roving dietician to many of the small rural hospitals and nursing homes in this area, finally retiring at the age of 82.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Jack; a son, Jimmy; a daughter, Marilyn; and one grandson. She had 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren.
The family suggests donations to a favorite charity instead of flowers.
Celebration of life services will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2008 at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with Rev Robert Field officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Resthaven Funeral Home.
