MIDLAND -- Florence Welborn, 90, of Midland died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, in Odessa.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gladewater cemetery. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.
She was born in Alex, Okla., and had lived in Midland since 1985. She was Baptist.
Survivors: Sons, Marion C. Welborn Jr. of Midland and Bruce L. Welborn of Flower Mound; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

J.D. Ferguson
ODESSA -- J.D. Ferguson, 89, of Odessa died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at his residence.
Services are pending with Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Elzie Berry

HOBBS, N.M. -- Elzie Ray Berry, 85, of Monahans, a retired custodian, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at Ward Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Prairie Haven cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

He born in Leonard. He was Baptist.

Survivors: son, Jerold Berry of Ninnekah, Okla., William Berry of Houston; daughter, Nancy West of Monahans; sisters, Mozelle Castlebun of Paradise, Calif., Juanita Bragg of Palestine; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Lois Chamblin

ODESSA -- Lois (McCune) Chamblin, 63, of Odessa, a retired office manager and dispatcher, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at her residence after a lengthy illness.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord with the Revs. James L. Otterness and Preston Weatherly. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in McLean and moved to Odessa in 1949. She was Lutheran.

Survivors: Husband, Bob L. Chamblin of Odessa; sons, Rickie L. Henderson of Lamesa, Russell W. Henderson of El Reno, Okla., James R. Henderson of Odessa; step-daughter, Mary L. Sherwood of Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Juanita Chavez

FORT STOCKTON -- Juanita G. Chavez, 59, of Fort Stockton, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at her residence.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Corner of Colpitts Church with the Rev. Alvaro Navarette officiating. Burial will be at East Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

She was born in Fort Stockton.

Survivors: Sons, Hector Flores, Ismael Flores and Damian Chavez, all of Fort Stockton; Irma Chavez and Melissa Ryan, both of Fort Stockton and Senaida Turner of Midland; brothers, Eulalio Chaves, Roy Gonzales, Arturo Gonzales and Ricky Gutierrez, all of McCamey, Roman Gonzales of Hobbs, N.M., David Gonzales of Oregon and Raymundo Sarabia of San Antonio; sisters, Adela Venegas of McCamey, Rosie Marquez of San Angelo; 10 grandchildren and five grandchildren.

FORT STOCKTON -- Harvey W. Elam Jr, 79, of Fort Stockton, a farmer, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, in Fort Stockton.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at East Hill cemetery with the Rev. Skip Hill officiating. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

He was born in Faben and moved to Fort Stockton in 1962. He was Baptist.

Survivors: Wife, Anna Elam of Fort Stockton; daughters, Claudia Burnett of Odessa, Sandy Clay of Dunn; brother, John Melton of Las Cruces, N.M.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

J.D. Ferguson

ODESSA -- J.D. Ferguson, 89, of Odessa, a retired welder’s helper, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at his residence.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Glen Harlin officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

He was born in Douglas and moved to Odessa in 1956 from Nacogdoches.

Survivors: Wife, Ethel Ferguson of Odessa; daughters, Dorothy Adams of Odessa and Wilma Wilson of Hobbs, N.M.; son, Ted Ray Ferguson of Denver City; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

LaJuana Hayes

ODESSA -- LaJuana Rhea Haynes, 49, of Odessa, a teacher, died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Resurrection United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jimmy Cameron and Bill Heggemeier officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Keney Fuenral Home.

She was born in Littlefield and moved to Odessa in 1979 from Bitburg, Germany. She was Methodist.

Survivors: Son, Derrick Haynes of Odessa; daughters, Tanya Bishop and Tisha Shellenberger, both of Odessa; mother, Keitha Dirickson of Odessa; brother, Larry Dirickson of Odessa; sister, Lynette Dirickson of Odessa; and two grandchildren.

Lee Lain

HOBBS, N.M. -- Lee T. Lain, 75, of Odessa, retired owner of Lee Lain Men’s Apparel, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at Columbia Lea Regional Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
He was born in Plainview. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was Lutheran.
Survivors: Wife, Doris Lain of Hobbs, N.M.; son, Gregory Lain of De Soto; daughter, Gale Drummond of Conroe; sisters, Mary Williams of Odessa, Gerry Rodriguez of Dallas and Billie Jones of Imperial, Calif.; one grandchild and four step-grandchildren.

ODESSA -- Hazel Emma McKenzie, 84, of Odessa, a caretaker for childcare and the elderly, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998.

Services were held Thursday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel. Additional services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville. Burial will be at Pilgrim Rest cemetery. Local arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Bellville and moved to Odessa in 1946 from Bellville. She was Lutheran.

Survivors: Sons, Morris "Mack" McKenzie of Rankin and Kenneth McKenzie III of Odessa; daughters, Rona Dell Maxwell of Odessa and Nancy Davis of Weatherford; brothers, Alvin Huff of Bellville and Arthur Wammell of Houston; sister, Anita Frank of Danbury; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Antonio Rodriguez

PECOS -- Antonio Rodriguez, 75, of Pecos died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Miguel Alcuino officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

He was born in Ojinaga, Mexico, and was a lifelong resident of Pecos. He was Catholic.

Survivors: Wife, Delia Rodriguez of Ojinaga, Mexico; son, Antonio Garcia Gomez of Pecos; daughters, Manuela Garcia of Pecos and Margartia Rodriguez of Houston; brother, Carlos Garcia of Littlefield; and two grandchildren.

ODESSA -- Wilma Dean Seal, 64, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

She was brn in Colorado City and moved to Odessa in 1942 from Big Lake. She was Baptist.
