She was born in Cheapside and moved to San Antonio in 1997 from Odessa. She was Presbyterian.
SURVIVORS: Son, Charles Allen Stain of San Antonio; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

ODESSA – Gene Edwin Sumruld, 55, of Odessa, a wireline operator for Sierra Well Service, died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at his residence.
Services were held June 27, 1998, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Burial was at Snyder cemetery. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
He was born in Snyder and moved to Odessa in 1968 from Snyder.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Phyllis Sumruld of Odessa; son, Jay Sumruld of Midland; daughters, Kleta Wallace of Midland, Stacy Pool of Odessa; and nine grandchildren.

PADUCAH -- John Arthur Ballard, 16, of Dalhart died Sunday, June 28, 1998,at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Paducah and moved to Dalhart three weeks ago.

He was born in Broken Bow, Okla., and moved to Odessa in 1949 from Oklahoma. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was Methodist.
