DENVER CITY -- Roy Akin, 85, of Denver City, a gauger for Amoco Oil Co., died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, at University Center in Lubbock.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Chrch with the Rev. Bob Webb officiating. Burial will be at Denver City Memorial Park. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home.
He was born in Rosston and had moved to Denver City in 1951 from Monahans. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Johnnie Akin of Denver City; daughters, Ann Wilmot of Cayuga and Jennifer Marlow of Mineola; brother, Ray Akin of Gainesville; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Refugia Benavides
FORT STOCKTON -- Refugia Sanchez Benavides, 90, of Fort Stockton, a homemaker, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, in Fort Stockton.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. David Herrera officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
She was born in Fort Stockton and was a lifetime resident. She was Catholic.

Walter Guin
KERRVILLE -- Walter Carl Guin, 86, of Kerrville, a retired minister, died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, at his residence.
Services were held Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Thomas W. Currie III and Vickie Yates officiating. Burial was in Garden of Memories cemetery. Arrangements by Grimes Funeral Chapel.
He was born in Brownwood and moved to Kerrville 15 years ago from Mineral Wells. He was Presbyterian.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Mildred P. Guin of Kerrville; son, David Guin of Boerne; sister, Ada Leary of Houston; brother, Tom Guin of San Angelo; and one grandchild.
Frank Montgomery
MATADOR -- Frank Montgomery, 95, of Matador, a retired farmer and stockman, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, at Mangold Memorial Hospital in Lockney.
Services were held Monday at Matador Church of Christ with Gerald Fugit, Bobby Stephens and Mike Crowley officiating. Burial will be at East Mound cemetery. Arrangements by Seigler Fuenral Home.
He was born in Fisher County and had lived in Motley County since 1910. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

W. Otis Nickels
LUBBOCK -- W. Otis Nickels, 49, of Lubbock died Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998, at Amarillo Veterans Medical Center.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Mills officiating. Arrangements by Resthaven Funeral Home.
He was born in Crosby County and had been a resident of Lubbock for 15 years after moving from Spur. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

ODESSA -- Helen Marie Overturf, 70, of Odessa died Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Corsicana.

He was born in Keltys and moved to Hemphill 30 years ago from Corpus Christi. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

He was born in Marathon and had lived in Fort Stockton since 1972. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
