Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Ojinaga, Mexico. Burial will be at Gardines de San Jose. Local arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
She was born in La Mar, Colo., and moved to Odessa six years ago from Mexico. She was a Catholic.

ODESSA -- Dan Sandel, 67, of Odessa, a retired pipeline welder, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hubbard-Kelly chapel with the Rev. Jack Watkins officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Kermit and moved to Odessa in 1963 from Kermit. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a Baptist.

ODESSA -- Socorro Muro Diaz, 64, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at her residence.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Luis Cepeda officiating. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
She was born in Durango, Mexico, and had been a resident of Odessa for 35 years after moving from Sanderson. She was a Catholic.

PALESTINE -- Hubert Batchelor, 71, of Cayuga, a retired employee of El Paso Natural Gas Company, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, at his residence.

He was born in Boxelder. He was a veteran of the Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Assembly of God church.

BARSTOW -- Gabina J. Renteria, 89, a homemaker, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at Reeves County Hospital after a lengthy illness.

IRAAN -- Mary Curtis, 96, of McCamey, a retired schoolteacher, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, in McCamey Convalescent Center.

She was born in Mineola. She was a pianist for the Iraan Methodist Church and the Lions Club until 1991.

DALLAS -- Lonnie Franklin James, 72, of Dallas, a retired mechanic, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, in a Dallas nursing home.
A memorial service will be held at a later date as the body was donated to science.
He was born in Runnels County. He was a U.S. Marine during World War II. He was a member of Edmund Boulevard Baptist Church.
Survivors: One son, Ron James of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Leona James of Fort Worth and Debra Woodard of Holden, La.; two sisters, Doris Potter and Betty Hughes of San Angelo; and three grandchildren.

ODESSA -- Sadie Estelle Stevens, 86, of Odessa, a retired nurse, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998.

She was born in Kemper County, Miss. She attended the University of Tennessee School of Nursing in Memphis.
