Vida Christine Birmingham
ODESSA — Vida Christine Birmingham, 93, of Odessa passed away Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, in a local nursing home. She was born December 19, 1905, in Mt. Ida, Ark., to John and Alice Ellington. She married
Roy C. Birmingham on Feb. 12, 1923, in Telephone, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1949, and her daughter, Lois Self, in 1986.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had worked as a seamstress for many years.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Donna Byrd of Odessa, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Public visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
James W. Horton
DIMMIT — James W. Horton, 91, of Dimmitt, Texas, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, in a Dimmit nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Earl Goatcher officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery.
Mr. Horton was born Jan. 20, 1908, in Rule. He was retired from Gulf Oil Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Toy.
He is survived by one son, James Horton of Hart; one daughter, Joan H. Goatcher of Clinton, Ark.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and many friends and relatives.
Ennis Wayne Kinsey
ODESSA — Ennis Wayne Kinsey Jr., 69, died peacefully at home on Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, in Odessa after a courageous effort with renal cell carcinoma.
Born in Temple, Ennis Wayne graduated from Brenham High School, served in the Air Force during the Korean War, attended Pan American University in Edinburg and retired from Conoco after 29 years.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ennis Kinsey, Sr., and his mother Lucille Kinsey, both of Mission. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Kinsey of Odessa; son Ennis Wayne Kinsey III of Houston; daughter and son-in-law Laura Kinsey Neeley and Steven of Austin; son and daughter-in-law Mark Kinsey and Karen of Midland and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 10, 3 p.m. at Christian Life Center, 2901 W. Kansas, Midland.

Helena Canady
ODESSA — Helena Canady, 70, passed away Oct. 6, 1999. She was born Feb. 8, 1929, in Wharton to Menafee and Helen Bankston.
A resident of Odessa, she is a homemaker and a member of Greater St. John Baptist Church. She was married
to Johnnie Lee Canady, who passed away Oct. 1, 1999.
Mrs. Canady is survived by her brothers, James Lockett of Eagle Lake, Augustine Bankston and B.J. Bankston, both of Wharton, J.T. Backstop of Houston; sisters, Doris Calhoun Backstop and Linda Backstop, both of Houston, Adlene Ball of Dallas; and many other relatives and friends.
A double funeral service for Johnnie Lee and Helen Canady will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Greater St. John Baptist Church with Elder Shelton officiating. Burial side by side at Rose Hill cemetery will follow.

Samuel Bowers
ODESSA — Samuel Frank Bowers, 58, of Montgomery, Ala., a truck driver and former Odessa resident, died Thursday, March 18, 1999, in Montgomery, Ala.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Melton Funeral Home of Breckenridge.
He was born in Kermit.

Horace Brazeal
CRANE — Horace (Pete) Brazeal, 69, of Crane, a retired foreman for ARCO, died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Crane County cemetery with the Rev. David Miracle officiating. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Homes & Chapel. He was born in Mexia and was a longtime resident of Crane.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Peggie Brazeal of Crane; son, Danny Brazeal of Andrews; daughters, Linda Bailey of Crane and Terri Newby of Odessa; brothers, C.T. Brazeal of Crane and Lloyd Brazeal of Odessa; and four grandchildren.

ODESSA — Vera Mae Craig, 87, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at Seabury Nursing Home.
Graveside services were held Thursday, March 16, 1999, at Rose Hill cemetery with the Rev. Mark Riley officiating. Arrangements were by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Strawn. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Son, Richard L. Craig of Odessa; sister, Ona Mae Spear of Mineral Wells; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

ODESSA — Nancy Cole, 76, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at her residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with the Revs. Mark Woodruff and James Bridges officiating.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Henrietta, Okla., and had lived in Odessa since 1942. She was Catholic.

She was born in Marlin and was a longtime resident of Monahans. She was Baptist.

ODESSA — Bessie Lee Haines, 92, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at Deerings Nursing Home.

She was born in Big Spring and moved to Odessa in 1941. She was Catholic.
