Glyn 'Pelks' Elkins

EUNICE, N.M. - Glyn 'Pelks' Elkins, 63, retired from EPNG, died Friday, Aug. 15, 1997, at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock.

Services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Jal, N.M., with the Rev. Patti Butts officiating. Burial will be at Jal cemetery in Jal, N.M. Funeral arrangements by Calvary Funeral Home in Eunice, N.M.

He was born in Hamilton and has been a resident of Jal, N.M., since 1995. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Army and the Reserves.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Mary Claydean Music of Jal, N.M. Marco Antonio Gutierrez Krasnohira ODESSA - Marco Antonio Gutierrez Krasnohira, 57, retired industrial engineer with MacDonald's Corporation, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis Frey officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. Funeral arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

Lizzie B. Murray

CALVERT - Lizzie B. Murray, 89, secretary, died Sunday Aug. 10, 1997, at her residence. Services were held Aug. 15 at Garrett Grove Baptist Church in Calvert with the Rev. E.W. Carter officiating. Funeral arrangements by Paul Funeral Home in Marlin.

She was born in Calvert, and was a lifelong resident. She served as choir member, secretary of the church, vice-president of the choir, treasurer of the mission society at Garret Grove Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Ora Lee Bell, Odessa; Fannie Lawrence, Odessa; Clara Moore, Los Angeles, Calif.; Brenda Combs, Los Angeles, Calif.; Emma Christian, San Marcos; sons, Clarence Murray, Calvert; Roy Murray, Odessa, Dudley Murray, Los Angeles, Calif.; adopted daughters, Lovie Evans of Los Angeles, Calif.; Ida Ruth Smith, San Antonio; Jo Ella Jones of Calvert; Christene Gilmore of Calvert; Lee Turner, Gardenia, Calif.; and adopted sister, Selena Jackson of Alexandria, La.

ODESSA - Ella Kate Smith, 96, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home.

Joe C. Johnson

ODESSA - Joe C. Johnson, 77, owner of Odessa Electric Service, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Ring III officiating. Funeral arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Marietta, Okla. and moved to Odessa from Las Cruces, N.M.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Veri Johnson of Odessa; daughters, Marlene Brandolini of Harverhill, Mass.; Sondra Townsend of Garland; and two grandchildren.

Benjamin Hub Heap

ODESSA - Benjamin Hub Heap, 22, stage hand, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 1997 in New Orleans.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Thorpe officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens following the services. Funeral arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Odessa and had been a lifelong resident.

SURVIVORS: Parents, Billie Craig and Kim Heap of Odessa; Mary Hellen and Tony Chiappa of Seattle, Wash.; brother, Cody Heap of Odessa; Blake Heap of Odessa; Dean Thiebeud of Carbondale, Fla.; and sister, Kristiana Heap of Odessa.

Robert Joseph Jones

DOTHAN, ALA. - Robert Joseph Jones, 62, a professor at Troy State University of Dothan, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 1997 in Dothan, Ala.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel in Dothan with Norman Boyd officiating. Funeral arrangements by Byrd Funeral Home.

He was born in Harlingen and has been a resident of Dothan since 1993. He was a board member of the Unity Church.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Clifton Jones of Dallas; Robert Jones of Dallas; sister, Betty White of Odessa; and one grandchild.

Eva Nell Sheffield

ODESSA - Eva Nell Sheffield, telephone operator, died Friday Aug. 15, 1997, at her residence.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Fairburn, Ga., and had been a resident of Odessa since 1955.

SURVIVORS: Husband, William Bill Sheffield of Odessa; daughter, Janis Dominguez of Odessa; brother, Edward Yarbrough of Macon, Ga.; and one grandchild.

Ella Katie Smith

ODESSA - Ella Katie Smith, 96, homemaker, died Sat. Aug. 16, 1997 at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. Glenn Harlin and Rev. Clydel Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

She was born in Paris and has been a resident of Odessa since the late 1940s. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: Brother, Morris Clark of Denver, Colo.; sister, Aline Tessman of San Antonio; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Leola Mae (Bennett) Swift

BOWIE - Leola Mae (Bennett) Swift, 91, a retired department manager at Walgreens, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 1997, in Bowie.

Services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Burgess Fry Owens Brumley Chapel in Bowie, with the Rev. Wendall Gill Pastor officiating. Burial will be at Hopewell cemetery in Bowie. Funeral arrangements by Burgess Fry Owens Brumley Funeral Home in Bowie.

She was born in Nocona, and has been a resident of Bowie for three years. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Odessa and a member of the Happy Hands Group of the church.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Leland D. Swift of Bellevue; John H. Swift of Odessa; daughters, Evelyn Alexander of Irving; Marchetta Bivins of Bowie; Iola Taylor of Oakland, Calif.; Irene Scott of Odessa; and Carletta Walden of Pflugerville; sister, Ila Williamson of Odessa; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Josephine Garms Heffington

BANGS - Josephine Garms Heffington, 89, a nurse's aid at Twilight Nursing Home, died Aug. 16, 1997, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services were held Aug. 18, 1997, at Bangs cemetery with the Rev. Michael Light officiating. Funeral arrangements by Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Bangs.

She was born in Bangs and was a lifelong resident. She was a member of Bangs Church of Christ.

SURVIVORS: Sister, Nina K. Eiland of Bangs; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Marie Hinkle

MIDLAND - Marie Hinkle, 87, a Pecos and Anson Independent School District teacher, died Monday at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center of Midland.

Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Dyer officiating. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.

She was born in Canyon and was a resident of Midland since 1940. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: Son, Harry Hinkle of Midland; daughter, Ann H. Dunbar of Austin; sister, Doris P. Kinney of Stamford; and four grandchildren.

Addie R. Mosely

BROWNFIELD - Addie Ruby Mosely, 92, a homemaker, died Aug. 14, 1997, at Brownfield Regional Medical Center after a lenghty illness.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Aug. 18, 1997, at Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Elder Ronnie Hedges officiating. Burial will be at Terry County Memorial cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Brownfield Funeral Home.

She was born in Claybourne Parrish, La., where she was raised. She had been a resident of Terry County since 1942. She was a member of Primative Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Lona Little of Brownfield, Nola Faye Massey of Levelland and Fairy Belle Hoppenrath of Corpus Christi; 22 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
