Buster Charles Reed
AUSTIN — Buster Charles Reed passed away on Oct. 2, 1999, at the age of 89.
He was born on July 12, 1910, in Mineral Wells. He moved to Odessa in 1937 and retired from Gulf/Chevron after 40 plus years of service.
He was a master Mason and a member of Goldsmith Lodge No. 1276 for more than 50 years. He moved back to Mineral Wells and resided at the Crazywater Retirement Hotel before his final move to Austin.
Buster is survived by one child, Vicki Ann Reed; two grandchildren, Cassandra Beam Stone and Daulton Reed Beam; and friend and former wife, Jo Russell.
The family would like to thank the L&L Sunday House and The Christopher House for the excellent, loving care they gave Buster.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 4, 1999, at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Burial was at Cooke-Walden Forest Oaks Memorial Park. The Rev. Jerry Merritt officiated.
Pallbearers were Daulton Reed Beam, Joel Stone, Kenneth Beam, Larry Parker, Jerry Sutton and David Fields.

ODESSA — A celebration of Life honoring Chris Vaughn, 75, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Life Unlimited Church with the Rev. Don Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at 5 p.m. at Plainview Memorial Park in Plainview with the Rev. Lee Walls officiating.
She went to be with the Lord Monday, Oct. 4, 1999.
She married
Robert Earl Vaughn Sept. 14, 1940, who preceded her in death in 1973. She spent her life pursuing God and ministering to people. She loved to spend time with her family. She was the most powerful prayer warrior you could have known. She was a member of Life Unlimited Church and worked with the Golan Ministry for the last five years.
Pallbearers will be Gregg Peacock, Paul Peacock, Ryan Phillips, Damon White and Robert Earl Vaughn II. Honorary pallbearer will be Steve Eve.
She is survived by her three sons, Kenneth Vaughn of Angleton, Eddie Vaughn and wife, Fannell, of Humble and Robby Vaughn and wife, J’Nice, of Odessa; two daughters, Carol Peacock and husband, Milton, and Darlene Eve and husband, Scott, all of Odessa; five brothers, Wilton Walls of California, Lee Walls of Amarillo Clifton Walls of Montana, Elmer Walls of Indiana and Billy White of Denton; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

ODESSA — Alfonso G. "Kingo" Chacon Jr., 40, of Odessa, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at his residence.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel and from 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery.
He was born Aug. 11, 1959, in Odessa to Benita Garcia Chacon and Alfonso Chacon Sr. He was a schoolteacher for Lubbock Independent School District. He was a retired veteran of the Navy.
Survivors include his father, Alfonso Chacon Sr. of Odessa; mother, Benita Chacon of Odessa; brothers, Hector Chacon of Odessa and Xavier Chacon of Lubbock; sisters, Delma Alvarez, Gracie Sandate, Gloria Chavez, Linda Chacon and Maribel Chacon, all of Odessa, and Viola Chacon of Lubbock; grandmother, Elauteria Chacon of Fort Stockton; seven nephews; and five nieces.

Jeanne Jones
ODESSA — Jeanne Jones, 72, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, in Boerne.
She was born July 1, 1927, in Reynoldsville, Ill. She moved to Odessa in 1957 from Bartlesville, Okla., and was a homemaker. She had been active in Second Baptist Church until her health began to fail.
She is survived by her husband, Ron Jones of Odessa; three sons, Don Jones of Boerne, Keith Jones of Gautier, Miss., and Kevin Jones of Odessa; one daughter, Paula Crossnoe of Richardson; three brothers, Duane Albright of Hartshorn, Okla., Lyle Albright of San Antonio and Jack Albright of Green Valley, Calif.; four sisters, Joyce Trant and Jan Jarrell, both of Columbus, Ohio, Shirley Dixon of Dallas and Linda Taylor of Ogden, Utah; and nine grandchildren.
Public visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today with the family to receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Troy officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Michael W. Nelson
ODESSA — Mike was born Dec. 4, 1960, in Odessa. He passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999 at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church with the Revs. Melvin L. Warren of First Baptist Church and Craig Martindale of St. Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Mike W. Nelson was a lifelong resident of Odessa. He attended Permian High School and worked as a roughneck. He enjoyed being outdoors and especially fishing. He married
Luz Divina Galindo on May 7, 1994, in Ector County. He was a member of First Baptist Church. His passion was to win souls for the Lord and to help those less fortunate.
Survivors include his wife, Divina Nelson of Odessa; parents, Kay and Mary Nelson of Odessa; his brother, Larry Nelson of Odessa; his daughter, Juliet Galindo; father-in-law, Andy Galindo; grandchildren, Ricky Carrera III and Ramon Carrera; brother-in-laws, Eleno, Johnny and Ray Galindo,all of Odessa.

Robert "Bobby" Sparkman
ODESSA — Our dearest, beloved father, Robert "Bobby" Sparkman, was called home to be with our Lord and Father on Oct. 3, 1999. He passed away at Medical Center Hospital after a brief illness.
Bobby was born to Monnie and Eva Sparkman on July 28, 1934, in Minden. He served in the Army from 1957 to 1959. He married
Dorothy "Dot" Titus on Aug. 6, 1959, in Henderson. He moved, with his family, to Odessa in 1961 to work in the oilfield industry. He started with Liberty Reversing Units and Fishing Tools Inc., driving a truck and running a reversing unit. He became vice president in 1967 and president and full owner in 1972.
Bobby was very active in the community and generously supported various local, state and national causes. He was an active member of the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang and currently served on the Board of Directors. He served as Gang Boss in 1983. He also currently served on the Board of Directors for the Permian Basin International Oil Show and was the first assistant to the executive director, Jay Alvey. He was a life member of the BPO Elks and had served as the Exalted Ruler in 1971-72. He also currently served on the Board of Directors of the Sportsman Conservationists of Texas and was a member of the American Legion. He had been a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church for 38 years. Bobby greatly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He spent a lot of time at his ranch in Mullin, Texas, and truly loved hunting quail with his bird dogs.
Bobby was preceded in death by the love of his life, his beautiful wife, Dot Sparkman, on Oct. 4, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Eva Sparkman; father, Monnie Sparkman; and brothers, Jack Sparkman, Billy Jones and Carl Jones.
He is survived by his six children: sons, Terry "Butch" Vance and wife, Kristina, of Waco, Monnie Sparkman and wife, Jill, of Odessa, John Sparkman and wife, Leslie, of Odessa, Jacky Sparkman and wife, Wendy, of Odessa; daughters, Stacey Gerig and husband, Mitch, of Plano, Joni Sparkman-Strawn and husband, Bell, of Odessa. He is survived by 17 grandchildren, who were the absolute joy of his life. He is survived by his brothers, T.J. Jones of Kilgore, Buddy Sparkman of Tyler, Charles Sparkman of Seattle, Wash.; and sisters, Billie David of Midland, Betty Smith and Ann Best, both of Henderson, Gladys Crouch of Kilgore, Lois Siler of Price, Judy Wilkins of Gladewater. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Odessa with the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Law of Chapel Hill Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Bill Edge, Bill Cooper, Randy Hams, Frog Allen, George Dennard, John Holdridge, Lynn Moore and Don Narrell. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang and the Permian Basin International Oil Show Board of Directors.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.

Jerrie Goule Miller
ODESSA — Jerrie Goule Miller was born April 12, 1936, in Menard. She passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999 at her residence.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Tom Allen of Big Spring officiating.
The family will receive visitors before and after the service at 13695 Whirlaway Drive. Sunset Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Jerrie attended Junction High School and then came to Odessa where she attended beauty college. After graduating, she worked as a hairdresser for a short time. She married
Billy E. Miller March 18, 1954, in Odessa. She worked for Anchor and Holes and later for Two Rivers Pipeline, from which she retired as bookkeeper in 1998. She enjoyed sewing and working puzzles. Her two daughters and four grandchildren were the light of her life.
Survivors include her husband, Billy E. Miller; daughters, Paula Brazael and her husband Con, and Toni White and her husband Robert, all of Odessa; her four grandchildren, Amanda and Jared Roach, and Niki and Trevor White, all of Odessa; and several aunts and cousins.
