ODESSA — Federico Trevino Sr., 75, of Odessa, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Lugo officiating. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Martinez Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, 1 to 10 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Monday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.
He was born May 10, 1924, in San Benito. He was employed by the Texas Department of Transportation and he retired after 31 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Cruz Martinez Trevino.
Survivors include his son, Federico Trevino Jr. of Odessa; daughters, Emma Villegas, Clarita Montoya and Hilda Gutierrez, all of Odessa, Norma Olmos of Kermit and Nelda Madera of Dallas; sisters, Maria Cavazos of San Antonio; 17 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Leland SheIton Sutton
BRADY — Leland SheIton Sutton died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at his home in Melvin. He would have been 68 on Dec. 15.
A retired farmer, rancher and livestock dealer, he was the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Sutton, early settlers of the Melvin community.
He was preceded in death by his father, Horace Shelton Sutton.
He is survived by his wife, Reba; his son Barry and wife, Gloria, of Melvin; daughter, Margay Stillings and husband, Jetty, of San Antonio; his mother, Mrs. H.S. Sutton of Melvin and San Antonio; his sisters, Natalie Arvin and husband, Sherrill, and Carrie Nan Rauch and husband, Earl, all of San Antonio; and six grandchildren, Bethani, Shelton and Barret Stillings, Taylor Ann and Ty Sutton, and Teresa Morris.
Visitation is slated at 10 a.m. Friday at the country home of her son, near the home where he was reared.
Services will begin there at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
In spite of Late 20th Century technology being a part of his life, the deceased was happiest in a life reminiscent of early pioneer days. He loved the land, his horses and livestock. In keeping with his wishes, the handmade wooden coffin will be borne by a horse-drawn farm wagon. Interment will be under an oak tree at the home of his late paternal grandparents.

Eula Mae Cross Tarrant
ALPINE — Eula Mae Cross Tarrant of Alpine, formerly of Midland and Chama, N.M., went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999. She had been a resident of Alpine this time for about a year, having returned to her hometown where she had lived as a child. She was born on April 30, 1923, to Dick and Mary Lea Cross in Pleasanton, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Assembly of God with the Revs. Greg MacPherson and Roy Cragg officiating. Burial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Putnum cemetery in Putnum with the Rev. Buzzy Boyd officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Geeslin Funeral Home in Alpine.
Mrs. Tarrant was a devout Christian who served her Lord in every aspect of her life. She was an active and dedicated member of First Assembly of God Church in Alpine. At the time of her death she worked part time at the Museum of the Big Bend on the Sul Ross State University campus. She graduated from Sul Ross in 1945 with a bachelor of business administration, during which time she was elected Sun Carnival Princess. She had worked as an executive secretary at the First National Bank in Midland for many years.
Mrs. Tarrant is survived by one sister, Janet Thompson of Seattle, Wash.; three sons, Arin Forest Robinson of College Station, Billy Tarrant of Wichita Falls and Ronald Tarrant of Riverside; and two daughters, Sharla Robinson Coughlin of Indiana, Penn., Jackie Tarrant Goolsby of Palestine; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a son-in-law, Robert Ramsey of Martindale; sister-in-law, Reba Cross of Alpine; and brother-in-law, Marshall Tarrant of Odessa. There are also numerous nieces, nephews, close family and friends who loved her and will miss her dearly.
Mrs. Tarrant was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy Surles Tarrant of Midland; two brothers, D.L. Cross Jr. of McAllen and Robert Paul "Robo" Cross of Alpine; one sister, Dorothy Jean Cross Cotter of Midland; and one daughter, Rita Beth Robinson Ramsey of Martindale.
Pallbearers are grandsons and nephews, David Robinson, Eric Robinson, James Ramsey, Justin Cross, Stuart Cross and Bill Cotter. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, Rodney Goolsby, Matt Goolsby, Conan Tarrant and Arin Robinson.
Mac O. Boring Jr.
ODESSA — Mac Boring was born Nov. 15, 1915, to Mac O. and Anne Locket Boring. He passed away Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at St. John’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Laura Deaderick and the Rev. Charles Mclntyre III officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Boring was born in Shreveport, La. He married
Mary Van Horne on March 23, 1940.
After growing up in Fort Worth, Mr. Boring worked in the Permian Basin oilfields during summers. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1937 with a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering and geology.
In 1943, Mr. Boring joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the Pacific during World War II. He worked for MBK Drilling in 1938 and founded Dixilyn Drilling with his dad in 1946 in Odessa.
He was a founder of American Bank of Commerce, now Chase Bank. He has received numerous honors including the Top Hand Award in the Petroleum Museum’s Hall of Fame; a marker on the Walk of the Entrepreneurs from the Heritage of Odessa Foundation; a Community Statesman Award for business from the Heritage of Odessa Foundation; and the Liberty Bell Award from the Ector County Bar Association, their highest commendation. He was also instrumental in helping the sales tax for Medical Center Hospital bill pass.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary F. Angel Boring of Odessa; his daughters, Dixie Lynn Boring Bassett and her husband, Don, of Abilene and Julie Ann Boring Harrell and her husband, George, of Houston; grandsons, Bo Bassett of Houston and Blake Bassett of Dallas; granddaughters, Brooke Harrell of Houston and Blaire Bassett of Abilene; and nephew, Van O’Keefe and his wife, Carolyn, of Odessa.

Billy Clayton Cantrell
ODESSA — Billy Clayton Cantrell, 67, of Fort Worth, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Fort Worth.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Lee and Joe Chase officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He was born June 17, 1932, in San Saba. He married
Dianne Liverman April 4, 1959, in Crane. She died Aug. 12, 1990.
Mr. Cantrell moved to Odessa in 1960. He worked in and around the oilfields for many years. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He moved to Fort Worth in 1998 to be near his daughter.
Survivors include his daughter, Schelle Waldran of Lewisville; and his son, Brian W. Cantrell of San Antonio.

Lillye Maye Grooms Bryant
ODESSA — Lillye Maye Grooms Bryant, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at Odessa Regional Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Heggemeier officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She was born Oct. 28, 1905, in Buffalo.
Mrs. Bryant moved to Odessa in 1953 from Hobbs, N.M. She was an educator, learned scholar, sincere friend and a really great mother. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Bryant Sr.; daughter, Jacque Love; three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include her son, Robert F. Bryant Jr. of Bellingham, Wash.; sister, Geraldine Gregory of Baton Rouge, La.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church.

Cecil Carlisle
EVANT — Cecil Carlisle, 75, of Evant, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at his residence.
Services were Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at Evant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Amon Langston, of Odessa, officiating. Burial was at Kingsbury cemetery. Arrangements were by Evant Funeral Home.
He was born in Rotan. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Carlisle of Evant; son, Cecil Ray Carlisle of Amarillo; daughters, Letha Walker of Odessa and Myrtle Carlisle, both of Odessa; sister, Odessa Henry of Comanche; eight grandchildren; and nine great-great children.
