Allen Dale Hulsey

ODESSA — Allen Dale Hulsey, 19, of Odessa, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donnie Williams officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

He was born Nov. 13, 1980, in Odessa.

Allen was a lifelong resident of Odessa. While attending Permian High School, he was on the gymnastic team, in the band and a cheerleader. He was presently a cheerleader at Odessa College. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his parents, Larry and Lisa Hulsey of Odessa; grandparents, Mary and Al Ashby of San Angelo; grandmother, Ann Aldredge of Brownwood; brother, Larry Edward Hulsey of Odessa and Thomas Cobos of Carthage; sister, Kimberly Leann Gray of Minot, N.D.; aunt and uncle, Wallace and Caroline Hulsey of Odessa; numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins and several friends and classmates.

Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Debbie Cardile Best

ODESSA — Debbie was born Sept. 11, 1958, in Brownwood, to Blackie and Dorothy Lawson Best. She passed away at her home on Nov. 20, 1999.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today at the Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Robert Lamb officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. today at Cedar Point cemetery in Brownwood. Sunset Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Debbie grew up in Brownwood and attended school there. She came to Odessa in 1983. She had been employed with Walgreens on Eighth Street for more than eight years. She enjoyed her grandchildren and helping others. One of her favorite pastimes was watching the Dallas Cowboys play.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Richard Cryer Best.

Survivors include her daughters, Jaymi Bentley and Crystal Woods, both of Odessa; stepdaughter, Felicia Cardile of Odessa; her sisters, Dottie Granato and Willena Benson, both of Brownwood; her grandchildren, Ryan and Jayson Bentley and Cache and Shala Cardile; and her sister-in-law, Sherry Cryer.

Morris Caffy

Morris Turner Caffy, 67, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, November 21, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 23, 1999, at Crescent Park Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Dickerson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Caffy was born in Corsicana, Texas, December 17, 1931, to Turner and Beulah Caffy. He graduated from Corsicana High School in 1948. He married Tommye Ruth McCormack August 12, 1950, in Tyler, Texas.

Mr. Caffy moved to Odessa in March 1951 and worked for Balie Griffith until 1970. He served in the Armed Forces from 1953 to 1955. After returning to Odessa he joined Crescent Park Baptist in June 1955. He and Tommye joined as charter members of the church, and he later became a deacon and served on various committees. In 1970, he opened Morris Caffy TV and Appliance, and through the years received numerous awards for his outstanding sales and service.

He was preceded in death by his father, Turner B. Caffy, and his mother, Beulah Caffy Moorehead, and one brother, James Caffy.

He is survived by his wife, Tommye Caffy of Odessa; daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Bruce Melton of Sherman, Texas; son and daughter-in-law David and Mellonie Caffy of Odessa; three grandchildren, Taylor and Katie Beth Melton of Sherman and Lisa Caffy of Odessa; and one sister, Aubrey Green of Corsicana.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Kay Cates

Kay was born on June 2, 1937, in Enid, Okla., to Harvey and Louise Ellison. She went to be with her Lord on November 19, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services are scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday, November 22, 1999, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Dr. Ernest Easley of First Baptist Church officiating. Brother Robert Barry will be in charge of music. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Kay moved to Odessa at an early age. She graduated from O.H.S. and attended Odessa College. She was very active in the singles class at First Baptist and the Kit Club. She was also a member of the Strokers Club. She enjoyed crafts and crocheting.

Survivors include her daughter, Cathy Harden of Odessa; her son, Greg Cates of Phoenix, Ariz.; her brother, Mike Edwards of El Paso, Texas; and three grandchildren, Will, Kara and Chad Harden.

Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Leroy "Bo" Ford

Leroy "Bo" Ford, 33 years of age, passed away on November 19, 1999, at Midland Memorial Hospital.

He was born on July 29, 1966 in San Jose, California. Bo was a graduate of Odessa High School and married Kristi Pruitt on December 20, 1986. Until his illness, he was employed as a salesman for CDI Industries.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Maxine Green of Odessa, his great aunt, Dolly Freeman and his great grandmother, Ola Powell. Surviving are his wife, Kristi Ford, daughters Kourtney Ford, Kayla Ford and Kami Ford, all of Odessa, his parents, Hubert Ford of Arkansas and Annietta Palmer of Odessa, sister Denise and her husband Gary of Midland, brother Thomas Ford of Arkansas, brother-in-law Tracy and his wife Kristina Pruitt, in-laws Carroll and Reata Pruitt, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 21, 1999, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. The funeral service is set for Monday, November 22, 1999, at 10 a.m. at Bethany Christian Church, located at 4522 Everglade, with Rev. Robert Scofield officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pall bearers will be Corky Stanley, Randy McDorman, Lex Allgood, John Pruitt, David Pruitt, Tom Knorr, Trey Dix and Kenneth Ainsworth.

Memorials may be made to the Mary Kay Cancer Research Center at 5959 Harry Hines Blvd., Suite 620, Dallas, Texas, 75235.

Era Hood

Era Hood, 85, of Lamarque, died November 18, 1999, in Lamarque, Texas. She was born Dec. 25, 1913, in Marietta, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Don Turskey officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. Era was a former resident of Odessa.

She is survived by her son, Billy Bob Hood of Alvin; sister, Fanny Hestant; sister-in-law, Maudie Martin; nieces, Catherine Berryhill, Marilyn Snyder, Glenda Coleman and Lee Don Martin; grandchildren, Robert Hand, Annetta Gaye Perry and Tracy Lynn Richardson; great-grandchildren, Lanae & Torie Perry, Donna & William Hood and Candice & Pace Richardson.

Janie Robertson Hunter

Mrs. Janie Robertson Hunter was born to Johnny Robertson and Octavia Crystal July 11, 1911, in Kervin, Texas, the first of 11 children. The family moved to Wortham, Texas, where Janie attended school. She accepted Christ at an early age.

As a young woman, she took courses in cooking and sewing and used these skills to earn a living as a domestic worker. She married Alonzo Hunter, who preceded her in death.

After moving to Odessa, she worked for Mrs. Moss for 40 years. When Mrs. Moss moved to Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. Hunter retired. She died at her home, 508 Washington Lane, on November 11, 1999.

She is survived by one brother, James Robertson of Odessa; five sisters, Johnnie Shelton of Midland, Laura Carter of Los Angeles, Calif., and Princella Toney, Marie Moorer and Alta Mae Rand, all of Odessa; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Frank Kremer

Frank Walker Kremer, born to Lon and Clara Kremer on Nov. 4, 1920, in Indianapolis, Ind. He attended Catholic and public schools in Indianapolis. He completed the Indianapolis Police School and graduated from Butler University with a B.S. degree in 1947. He later attended Baylor Law School in Waco, Texas, and the Texas D.P.S. Highway Patrol Training Academy at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas.

He was a sales manager for CIT Corp. for five years in Dallas, Texas, and Kansas City, Mo., and attended their finance school in New York. He was with French Tool & Supply Co. in Odessa as credit manager for 18 years, and Broncho Chevrolet as leasing manager for 21 years. He retired in February 1999.

He enjoyed hunting and was the coordinator for a hunting club for 25 years at the Roger Dudley Ranch in Sheffield, Texas.

He is past president of the Odessa chapter of NACM (National Association of Credit Management) and has served as a loan executive for The United Way.

He was a member of Odessa Country Club for over 16 years and a long-time member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a fighter pilot instructor after receiving his pilot wings at Moore Field, Mission, Texas in 1943, Class 43K. He was stationed at Waco Air Force Base and Randolph Air Field, San Antonio, Texas.

He married Blanche Willis of Mexia, Texas, in 1945. She preceded him in death in 1994. He married Sue Alford of Odessa in 1997.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Kremer of Odessa; daughter, Anne Shepard of Harlingen; sister, Esther Marshal of Monrovia, Ind.; and three grandsons, Michael Ashy of Houston, Kirk Ashy and his wife Kristan of Houston, and Brian Ashy of Houston.

Services are scheduled for 12 noon Monday, November 22, 1999 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, with Father Michael Jasper of St. Barnabas officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be sent to Nurses Hospice.

Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
