Louise Gray Dare
ODESSA — Louise Gray Dare, 93, a former resident of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, in Gatesville.
She was born on Sept. 17, I906, in Marion County, Ark., to George W. Gentry and Eugenia Hand Gentry.
Louise had taught school in Arkansas before moving to Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas, settling in Odessa in the 1940’s. She became a well respected business woman in the Odessa area and owned several women’s apparel stores. The store she owned in Odessa was known as "Louise’s Shop."
In the 1960’s, she moved to Carson City, Nev., where she worked for the state, and eventually moved to Sacramento, Calif., in 1970, where she also held a position working for the State of California.
She was a longstanding member of Temple Baptist Church in Sacramento, Calif., where she sang in the choir for a number of years.
She was married
to Richard B. Dare Oct. 7, 1965, in Carson City, and he preceded her in death in 1981.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Ernie Gentry, of Mountain Home, Ark.
Survivors include one sister, Dora Lee Gentry Pharis of Gatesville; one niece, Dolores Scott of Gatesville; and one nephew, David Scott of Gatesville.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pleasant Ridge cemetery near Yellville, Ark.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
Rosemary Hardin
ODESSA — Rosemary Hardin, 73, of Odessa, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Mabee Health Care Center in Midland.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronald Rennegarbe officiating.
She was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Breckenridge. She married
Willard Hardin in January 1955 in Odessa.
Mrs. Hardin was a longtime resident of Odessa. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Willard in 1967 and her nephew Larry Bailey.
Survivors include her son, Randy Hardin and his wife Kay of Midland; daughter, Lisa Buss and her husband Earl of Odessa; sister, Patsy R. Brown of Odessa; and four grandchildren, Alisha and Colby Buss and Aubrey and Kendal Pavlis; nieces, Brenda Rasmussen and Mary Ann Culberson, both of Odessa.
The family suggests memorials to Mabee Health Care Center.

Ann Nita Perry Silliman
ODESSA — Ann Nita Perry Silliman, 86, of Fort Stockton died Nov. 2, 1999, at the Pecos County Memorial Hospital.
She was the daughter of Frank Alfred Perry and Juanita Blanks Perry, who were longtime ranchers in Pecos County. She attended school in Fort Stockton and San Marcos University.
Nita married
Jack Evans Silliman on March 27, 1930, in Carlsbad, N.M. They lived most of their lives in Fort Stockton.
Mrs. Silliman has been active in the First United Methodist Church and many local clubs and organizations.
She was preceded in death by her son Jack Perry Silliman in 1953; a daughter-in-law, Ning Silliman, in February 1998; and her husband, Jack E. Silliman, in September 1998.
She is survived by three sons, Tom Silliman of Great Falls, Va., Frank Silliman of Odessa and Bill Silliman of Denver, Colo. She also had eight grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at a later date.

Ora Freeman Walker
FORT STOCKTON — Ora Freeman Walker, 88, formerly of Odessa, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, in Lewisville. She was born Dec 5, 1910, in Steele, Mo.
Mrs. Walker moved to Odessa in 1957 from Artesia, N.M. She was a homemaker and when living in Odessa, was a member of Crescent Park Baptist Church. In 1995 she moved to Carrollton where she was a member of Woodlake Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Walker, and a daughter, Ann Smith.
She is survived by daughters, Mary Olsen of Walnut Creek, Calif., Jimmie Green of Austin and Kathy Belt of Carrollton; two sisters, Jenny Highfill of Little Rock, Ark., and Helen Cox of Carrollton; brother, J.T. Freeman of Sharadin, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with her sons-in-law, Del Olson and Carroll Green, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Tomasita G. Flores
ODESSA — Tomasita G. Flores was born March 7, 1924, in Fort Stockton to Vicente and Valentina Galindo. She passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.
She married
Charles Flores in 1941 in Fort Stockton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, father and mother.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Fidelo Lugo officiating. A rosary will be said today and Thursday at 7 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Flores was a homemaker.
Survivors include her sons, Carlos Flores of Abilene, Manuel Flores, Ramon Flores, Nick Flores and Joe Flores, all of Odessa; her daughters, Rosa Quiroz of Edinburg, Lupe Barrerez of Georgia, Joann Flores, Sandy Flores and Janette Villanueva, all of Odessa; one sister, Angelita Huertas of Odessa; 30 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Flores, Charles Flores, Nick Flores, Jesse Acosta, Jaime Acosta and Joel Flores.

Lawrence Henry Hahn
MIDLAND — Lawrence Henry Hahn, 73, passed away November 8, 1999, in Midland. He provided great strength and guidance to his family and friends, and his presence will be strongly missed.
Born July 21, 1926, in Borger, he attended Wink High School and Texas A&M University. He served in the Air Force during World War II and upon return, graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor of arts degree in history. Lawrence was a member of the Silver Keys Fraternity at Texas Tech and was the first member of his family to graduate from college. In 1952, he attended the University of Texas School of Law and later married
Peggy Sue Jones of Monahans, Texas, in 1953. Soon after, he joined Humble Oil and Refining Company (predecessor to Exxon Corporation) as a Certified Public Landman for 20 years. Lawrence retired from Exxon in 1975 to pursue his interests in oil and gas and real estate development.
In addition to being founder and president of Inland Resources, Inc. and X-L Energy Company, he founded Petroplex Savings and Loan. He served on the Board of Directors of Midland American Bank, which he had purchased and moved from a trailer house on the Loop Road to its downtown location. He was responsible for several local real estate developments, including the Skaggs Albertson Retail Center on Andrews Highway. In the early 1990s, he served as general manager of the W.D. Johnson Slash Ranch. He enjoyed raising horses as his primary past time.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva R. and William Lawrence Hahn of Monahans; and by his sisters, Luella Wiley and Pauline Gentry.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sue Jones Hahn of Midland; his children and their spouses, Cygne and David Nemir of El Paso, Leslie Hahn of Midland and Lori and Charfie Vetters of San Antonio; his nephew, Leonard Milton Jones and his wife, Laurra of Houston; two granddaughters, Stephanie and Audra Nemir of El Paso; his sisters, Elvina Myers of Albuquerque, N.M., Joyce Hahn of Monahans; his brother, Charles Hahn of Abilene; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lawrence was a good and loving husband and father for 46 years.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Sullivan, Craig Atchison, Chuck Standley, Skeet Jones, Mike McKenzey and Art Oestmann. Honorary pallbearers will be Rocky King and Ralph Hammond.
