Betty Mae Phillips Hooper
ODESSA — Betty Mae Phillips Hooper went to be with our Lord and Savior Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Watkins officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She was born on August 1, 1933, in Butler County, Ala., to parents James Jasper and Ollie Belle Phillips. She moved to Texas in 1948 at the age of 15. She married
Don Ray Hooper May 20, 1950, in Loving, N.M. She was a loving mother to six children.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years and 11 months, Don Hooper; sons, Lanny Hooper of Lubbock, Larry Hooper, Mike Hooper and wife, Kay, Tony Hooper and wife, Linda, all of Odessa; daughters, Kaye Lynn Harrison and husband, John, of Odessa, Rhonda Gulley and husband, Jim, of Sonora.
She is also survived by 14 grandchildren who she dearly loved, Michael Shawn Hooper and wife, Dawn, David Hooper and wife, Kristy, Brian Paul Hooper, John Michael Harrison, Tony Harrison, Ronnie Hooper, Michelle Hooper, Crystal Hooper, Caleb Gulley, Jillian Gulley, Evan Gulley, Whitney Hooper, Joli Hooper and Colt Hooper; two great-grandchildren, Ty Hooper and Haylie Hooper; two brothers, Charlie Phillips of Crestview, Fla., William Phillips and wife, Sue, of Georgiana, Ala.; sister, Mary Green of Greenville, Ala.; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Betty; and many more who claimed she was like a mother or grandmother to them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and OIlie Belle; brothers, Monroe and James "Junior" Phillips; and sister, Frances Skinner, all of Alabama.
Betty was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She worked beside her husband at Hooper Trucking Co. She was the happiest when she had all her family together or while sharing a cup of coffee with a friend. She was a best friend to each of her children, who all admired her so, and the best mother-in-law around. She was a very special grandmother who took time to teach and share many things with each one, like how to sing "Jesus Loves Me", how to throw a ball and how to say "Go Cowboys!" She loved all kinds of sports that the whole family could participate in like rodeo, softball and watching football, especially Mojo and Dallas. She loved traveling with Don in the bus and always invited friends or family to come along. She created smiles, laughter and good times with her enthusiastic energy. She had many friends, including employees of Hooper Trucking, who she held dear and close to her heart. She attended Temple Baptist Church in Odessa.
Pallbearers will be her eight grandsons.

Annabel Hankins
ODESSA — Annabel Hankins, 92, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2000, in a local hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Hankins was born Nov. 11, 1907, in Mullin. She married
D.M. Hankins April 21, 1928, in Breckenridge and moved to Odessa in 1938 from Crane.
Annabel was active in several activities in Odessa including being a Charter Member of the Odessa Book Club and the Odessa Bridge Club. She was active in her beloved church, First Christian Church, where she held many Sunday school offices and served on various committees of the church.
Annabel loved serving her family most of all. She is survived by a son, Kenneth M. Hankins and his wife, Pat, of Odessa; three grandchildren, Ken Hankins Jr. and his wife, Ann, of Midland, Ann Kennedy and her husband, Glenn, of Odessa and Grayson Hankins and his wife, Leslie, of Odessa; five great-grandchildren, Travis Kennedy, Elizabeth Kennedy, Kyle Kennedy, Madison Hankins and Tripp Hankins; a brother, T. J. Whitley of Odessa; a sister, Louise Miller and her husband, Frank, of Anchorage, Alaska; sister-in-laws, Margaret McKinnon Payne of Houston and Loy Whitley of San Angelo; and two nephews and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, D.M. Hankins, Dec. 14, 1974.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2000, in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday in First Christian Church with Dr. David C. Mindel officiating.

Norman A. "Cheezy" Moore
ODESSA — Norman A. "Cheezy" Moore, 77, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ronnie Newton, Pastor of Wesley Evangelical Methodist Church, officiating assisted by Rev. Steve Trout, Pastor of First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Norman "Cheezy" Moore was born Oct. 22, 1921, in Gordon to Judge J A. and Zelma Moore. As a young child, he moved to Odessa, where he resided until his death.
He was a pilot in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He spent his entire business life in the oil industry in Odessa and retired as an Executive Sales Manager for W. R. Grace Drilling. He was an avid sportsman who loved fishing, hunting, golf and the outdoors. He had been a member of First United Methodist Church since 1934. He was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce, V.F.W., American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Toastmasters, Odessa Country Club and past president of the Broncho Booster Club.
He was admired by many and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Ann Arledge Moore, on February, 1986, and has been married
to Alice Anderson Moore since November, 1994.
Survivors are his wife, Alice Moore of Odessa; son, David Moore and wife, Linda, of Fort Worth; daughter, Candy Homsey and husband, Lynn, of Odessa; stepdaughter, Linda Burdic and husband, Jack, of Odessa; five grandchildren, Christi, Brandon and Cameron Moore, all of Fort Worth, Gary Homsey and wife, Becky, and David Homsey, all of Odessa; two great-grandchildren, Trinity and Kendal Homsey of Odessa; stepgrandchildren, Marta Metcalf of Oklahoma and Jay Metcalf of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers, Dan Wilson, J.B. Copeland, Don Ormand, J.C. Foster, Jack Tidwell and Harry Bradley. Honorary pallbearers will be the five grandsons.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Charity of Your Choice, Wesley Evangelical Methodist Church or the First United Methodist Church.

Vernon A.C. Williams
ODESSA — Vernon A.C. Williams, 76, of Odessa died April 19, 2000, at Avalon Place Nursing Center. He was born Dec. 2, 1923, in Waldrop.
He married
Eugenia "Jean" Lunsford Sept. 15, 1956, in Lovington, N.M.
Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Law officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.
Mr. Williams was a World War II veteran serving in the Army. He then moved to Odessa in 1946 from Breckenridge and had been employed by Tom Brown Drilling in Midland for 25 years. He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of VFW #4372.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Clint and Ada Anderson; brother, Lloyd Williams and sister, Mae Crowell.
He is survived by his wife, Eugenia "Jean" Williams; son, and daughter-in-law, Charles R. and Connie Williams; daughter, JoTonnea Williams, grandsons, Korey Puffinbarger, Ryan Williams, all of Odessa, and Justin Lackey of Arlington; and granddaughters, Krystal Moore of Monahans and Toyie Williams of Big Spring. He also is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Mable Williams of Odessa; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Sylvia and James White of Odessa, Doris and James Callahan of Odessa and Peggy Funderberg of Breckenridge; stepbrother, Billy Richardson and his wife, Billie of Odessa; stepsisters, Bernice McMann of Odessa and Patsy Labelle and her husband, Robert, of Arkansas; and 12 great grandchildren.

Juanita Gonzales
ODESSA — Juanita Gonzales, 76, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2000, at her sister’s residence in Midland.
She was born March 5, 1924, in Alpine. Upon her retiring she was employed with Dr. Curry’s office for 20 years.
Mrs. Gonzales was preceded in death by her parents, Maximo and Eduviges Gonzales; sisters, Constanza Acosta and Isabel Gonzales.
She is survived by her longtime friend, Anastacio Sanchez of Odessa; son, David Gonzales and wife, Pricilla, of Fort Worth; brothers, Elisco "Smokey" Gonzales and Pedro "Pete" Martinez of El Paso; sisters, Librada Sanchez of Midland, Rosa Maria Gomez of Mendota, Calif.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A rosary and a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Odessa Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be members of the family.

ODESSA — Ramona Martinez Palma, 55, of Odessa died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with Samuel Emiliano officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.
She was born in San Antonio Del Bravo, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Preceded in death by her parents, Francisco Prieto Martinez and Josefa Tarango Martinez; brother, Ruben T. Martinez.
Survivors include her husband, Guadalupe Palma of Odessa; son, Jose Alfredo Palma of Odessa; daughters, Margarita Evelia Palma, Maria Estella Palma and Gloria Esther Barron, all of Odessa; brother, Felix T. Martinez of Odessa; sisters, Lucia M. Boy and Maria Estela Carranza, both of Odessa. She was the loving grandmother "Mimo" of Alexandra Marrufo, Xavier Marrufo, Angelica Palma and Adrian E. Barron.
