Pansey J. Lee

ODESSA — Pansy J. Lee of San Angelo passed away, Saturday, March 4, 2000, at Shannon Medical Center.

There will not be any services. Pansy was a member of Southgate Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Spencer Lee, of San Angelo; sister, Elaine Eckert and husband, Clarence, of Odessa; nieces, Pam Logan of Fort Worth and Kim Wrinkle of Odessa; cousin, Betty Burleson of Odessa; great niece and nephews, Jason Logan, Kristie Logan, Jeremy Deming and Ben Deminig; sisters-in-law, Leah Brooks of San Angelo and her family, Larry Brooks, Janey Boykin and Lynn Brooks and Pat Lee and her daughter, Kathy.

Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Nora Graves Miles; and a niece, Brenda Eckert.

Ugoeze Paulina Atim Njemanze

ODESSA — Ugoeze Paulina Atim Njemanze, 76, was called home to the Lord on Saturday, March 4, 2000, after a lengthy illness. She was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Nigeria to Mr. and Mrs. Peter N. Cobham. Mrs. Njemanze was a very loving person, and with love she taught school for 37 years until her retirement in 1985.

She was joined in marriage with Eze Anumaku Alexius Njemanze Sept. 16, 1943. Together, they raised fourteen children of their own, seven boys and seven girls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings and her husband.

She was brought to the United States June 2, 1990, by her children after the death of her husband in 1988. She lived in Oklahoma, San Angelo and Odessa with her children. She was a very Ioving mother who served as a pillar and source of strength for her children. She was a Catholic and one who strongly believed that with prayers and faith in God, you can make miracles happen. Her love for children and crusade for motherless children while in Nigeria was her greatest hobby. She loved to cook, sing and babysit her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

After raising fourteen children of her own, one would think she would be tired of children, but she could not last a full day without the company of her grand- and great-grandchildren. We have lost our best friend and our support, but we know she is resting in a better place free of all pains. We love you Mom and hope to see you in heaven.

Left to mourn her death are daughters, Stella Neboh (a pharmacist at Albertson’s on 8th Street) and her husband, Eugene Neboh Sr. of Odessa, and Esther Efiong of Nigeria and five daughters still in Nigeria; sons, Charles Njemanze and wife, Sharon, of San Angelo and Gabriel Efiong and wife, Beverly, of La Marque and five other sons in Nigeria; 50 grandchildren including, Eugene Neboh Jr., Felix Neboh, Richard Neboh and Dexter Neboh, all of Odessa, and Sharanda El-Masri and husband, Basil, Kashana Horst and husband, Tim, Daniella Njemanze and Samuel Njemanze, all of San Angelo; 10 great-granddaughters, including Miya El-Masri of San Angelo; three great-great-grandchildren.

Public visitation will be held Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with the family receiving visitors from 4 to 6 p.m. She will be transferred to San Angelo at noon Wednesday.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2000, in the Holy Angels Catholic Church in San Angelo with Rev. Charles C. Greenwell, ED. DD. officiating, with interment to follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Park in San Angelo.

Local arrangements under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

David W. Sissel

ODESSA — David W. Sissel, 82, of Odessa died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at his residence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

He was born March 23, 1917, in Walton, Kan. He married Maxine Miller June 2,1940, in Fairfax, Okla.

Mr. Sissel moved to Odessa in 1963 from Hobbs, N.M. He was the western district maintenance superintendent for Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He served in the Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Sissel of Odessa; son, Billy D. Sissel and wife, Della, of Amarillo; daughter, Donelda F. Rausch and husband, Richard, of Burnet; brothers, Paul Sissel of Enid, Okla., Roy E. Sissel of Maize, Kan., Arthur Sissel of Stinnett, Texas, and John W. Sissel of Phillipsburg, Kan.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Home Hospice of Odessa, the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.

Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Robert R. "Bob" Davenport

ODESSA — Robert R. "Bob" Davenport passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born Jan. 27, 1934, in Tulsa, Okla., and moved to Odessa in 1943. His parents were Royce M. and Lillian Davenport.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at Northside Baptist Church with Revs. Clydel Chapman and Glenn Harlin officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Bob was an Odessa High graduate. He attended Tarleton State College and Baylor University. He served 23 years in the Marine Corps Reserves, retiring as a First Sergeant. He retired from the Sheriff Reserves after serving 22 years. He was branch manager for W. L. Somner Co. in Odessa and Shoreline Supply Co. in Oklahoma City and Houston.

He recently retired from Odessa Pump. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, the American Legion, Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Marine Corps Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, David Alan; his son-in-law, Joe Duerksen,: his brother-in-law, the Rev. Jim Anderson; and his nephew, Gary Parks.

He is survived by his wife, Mona; daughters, Mrs. Karen Duerksen of Iowa Park and Mrs. Anita Day and her husband of Midlothian; sister, Maxine Parks and her husband of Odessa; and four grandchildren, Robert and Angela Duerksen and Chad and Cailie Day. He is also survived by numerous nieces and neph-ews.

Bessie Lorene Brown Dowlen

ODESSA — Bessie Lorene Brown Dowlen, 85, of Odessa passed away Feb. 24, 2000, at her home. She was born Oct. 26, 1914, in Walters, Okla., to Tom and Myrtle Brown.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Sixth & Jackson Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial cemetery.

Mrs. Dowlen attended Prospect School, a rural two-room schoolhouse, and then attended Cameron Junior College in Lawton, Okla. She married Mitt Dowlen Aug. 12, 1936, at Walters, Okla. She had the pleasure of seeing her parents celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary. She and Mitt moved to Odessa for the second time in 1960 from Levelland. She was a longtime member of Sixth & Jackson Church of Christ. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and "domestic engineer" who spent her life caring for and about others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mitt; brother, Earl Dowlen; and grandson, Jeff Dowlen.

Survivors are her son, Cleon Dowlen and his wife, Shelia, of Odessa; daughter, Jan Hartsell of Odessa; six grandchildren, Kathy Sherrill of Andrews, Charlotte Sherrill of Oklahoma City, Bradley Hartsell of Odessa, Scott Dowlen of Midland, Lisa Linton of Austin and Dana Dowlen of Mid- land; and seven great-grand- children; and many dear friends.

Arrangements are by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Bessie Mae Watson

ODESSA — Bessie Mae Watson, 85, of Odessa died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at her residence.

She was born March 16, 1914, in Lockesburg, Ark., and met and married James M. Watson, Nov. 1, 1930, in Lockesburg. In 1937, they moved to Roosevelt, Okla.

They moved to Odessa from Wilson, Okla., in 1986. She was a homemaker but had owned a restaurant and had been a cook for schools and hospitals.

She was a positive person who never complained, and never had a bad word to say. There was nothing that she would not try in cooking and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, April 11, 1994; daughter, Patsy Anderson; parents, John and Sally Henson; and five brothers, Bonnie, Hubert, Her- bert, Richard and Truman Henson.

Survivors include her daughters, Peggy Wallis and husband, Curt, and Jimmie Gilham and husband, Jack, all of Odessa. She also is survived by grandchildren, Mike and Karen Wallis, Karen and Josh Villasenor, Kasey Garrett, and Ashley Gilham; great grandchildren, Joel and Melanie Villasenor, Lacy and Jason Wise, Lori Villasenor and Chrissy and Trey Harris; and great-great-grandchildren Tyler, Kylie, and Dakota. Other survivors include her sisters, Ollie Belle Robinson of Eunice, N.M., and Imogene Teague of Hobart, Okla.

The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2000.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today, Feb. 26, 2000, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. Melvin Warren officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gar- dens.

Minnie Leora Cox

ODESSA — Minnie Leora Cox, 93, of Odessa passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at her residence. Mrs. Cox was born January 11, 1907, in Cottonwood. She moved to Odessa in 1977 from Grandfalls where the family had lived for many years. She married Auther Lawton Cox Dec. 21, 1924, in Shackelford County. He preceded her in death in 1957.

She was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church. Her life was her family and her church.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, W.B. and Minnie Lee Shirley; two daughters, Dixie Parten and Leora Armstrong; several brothers and sisters; and one grandson.

She is survived by sons, Norman L. Cox and his wife, Nancy, of Monahans, Durward A. Cox and his wife, Martha, of Kerrville, William R. "Butch" Cox and his wife, Dawn, of Huber, Arizona; daughters, Barbara A. Floyd and her husband, Roy, of Odessa and Linda S. Woods and her husband, Ralph, of Odessa; brother, J. B. Shirley of Monahans; sisters, Avanell Gibbons of Fort Worth and Lamoin Hart of Midland; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, in the Sherwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Hiser officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Monahans Municipal cemetery under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be the grandsons, Johnny Harris, Danny Marble, Lonnie Cox, Jason Wells, Derek Ellis, Lance Cox, Danny Armstrong and Bobby Blackman.

Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
