Essie S. Franklin
ODESSA — Essie S. Franklin, a longtime Odessa resident, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, in Saluda, N.C.
Mrs. Franklin was born May 31, 1917, in Sequoyah County, Okla., to Lem and Amanda Sullivent. She was 82 years of age.
Burial was Jan. 5, 2000, in Tulsa, Okla.
She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a nursing degree. She spent about 20 years in Odessa as a registered nurse at Medical Center Hospital and privately for Dr. H.E. Hestand and Dr. Life Barnard. Upon retirement, she moved to Lewisville and then to North Carolina.
Mrs. Franklin is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sheila Franklin of Columbus, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Jeriann and Tom Fisher of Lewisville; sister, Alice Sullivent Keen of Dallas; twin sister, Jessie Sullivent Burgin of Lincoln, Neb.; brother, Jack Sullivent of Tulsa, Okla., and Sie Sullivent of Pensacola, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and John Sullivent.
Bessie Mae Watson
ODESSA — Bessie Mae Watson, 85, of Odessa died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at her residence.
She was born March 16, 1914, in Lockesburg, Ark. She was raised in Roosevelt, Okla., and married
James M. Watson, Nov. 1, 1930, in Lockesburg. They moved to Odessa from Wilson, Okla., in 1986.
She was a homemaker but had owned a restaurant and had been a cook for schools and hospitals.
She was a positive person who never complained, and never had a bad word to say. There was nothing that she would not try in cooking and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, April 11, 1994; daughter, Patsy Anderson; parents, John and Sally Henson; and five brothers, Bonnie, Hubert, Herbert, Richard, and Truman Henson.
Survivors include her daughters, Peggy Wallis and husband, Curt, and Jimmie Gilham and husband, Jack, all of Odessa. She is also survived by grandchildren, Mike and Karen Wallis, Karen and Josh Villasenor, Kasey Garrett and Ashley Gilham; great-grandchildren, Joel and Melanie Villasenor, Lacy and Jason Wise, Lori Villasenor and Chrissy and Trey Harris; and great-great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kylie and Dakota. Other survivors include her sisters, Ollie Belle Robinson of Eunice, N.M., and Imogene Teague of Hobart, Okla.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2000.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Rev. Melvin Warren officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

William Chambers
IRAAN — William (Bubba) Douglas Chambers, 23, of Littleton, Colo., formerly of Iraan, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Pecos County General Hospital. Bubba was a Tower Technician. He was full of love and laughter, living life to its fullest. He was a blessing, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at First Baptist Church in Iraan, with the Rev. Harold Durham and the Rev. Dean Gressett officiating with interment to follow at Restland cemetery. All services are under the direction of Richard W. Box Funeral Home of Iraan.
William was born in Big Lake, Texas, on Nov. 13, 1976.
Bubba is survived by his loving: father and stepmother, George and Sheryl Chambers of Ft. Stockton; mother and stepfather, Teresa and Ronald Quast of Buford, Wyo.; stepmother and stepfather, Ginger and Andy Keyes of Rankin; grandparents, James Webb of Blackwell, Clodean Chambers of Las Cruces, N.M.; stepgrandparents, Carl and Doris Williams of Iraan, sisters, Christie and husband, Pat Martinez, of Floresville, Detra and husband, Adam Rodriguez, of Sterling City; two brothers, James Ray Chambers of Iraan, Cody Wayne Chambers of Rankin; three stepsisters, Dawn Calzada, Deiree Kay, Summer Gressett; two stepbrothers, Randy Chambers and Josh Keyes; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James Ray Chambers, Cody Chambers, Bruce Chambers, Dallas Cham-bers, James Williams, Ricky Williams, Pat Martinez, Jimmy Quast and Randy Chambers.
Louise Moorhead
MIDLAND — Louise Mae Moorhead was born November 11, 1928, in Springfield, Mo. to Willie and Bernice Chandler Thomas. She passed away at her residence Saturday morning, Feb. 12, 2000.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Bro. Leonard Cotten, with Country Chapel of Midland, officiating. Services are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Moorhead was a barber for 22 years. She lived in Goodyear, Ariz., from 1964 to 1990 and was the owner of the Goodyear Barber Shop. On Dec. 24, 1987, she married
Orban Moorhead in Las Vegas, Nev. She moved to San Saba in 1990 and then to Midland about a year ago. She enjoyed fishing, her grandchildren, going to Las Vegas and traveling with her husband. She was a lifelong Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Don Thomas, and sister, Eveline Edgell, and by a daughter, Norma Louise Calvin.
Survivors include her husband, Orban Moorhead of Midland; her sons, Robert Lee Farris of Ridgeway, Va., James Ward Farris of Gallup, N.M., Guy Lloyd Farris of Litchfield Park, Ariz.; daughters, Vonnie Prescott of Midland, Kathy Hope Ellis of Phoenix, Ariz., Peggy Rayne Walker of McKinney; stepson and step daughter, Michael J. Moorhead of La Porte and Sharon Faye Mook of Crane; brother, Keith Thomas of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters, Bertha Paynter of Salina, Kan. and Lois Stafford of Campo, Colo.; 25 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to be made to the American Cancer Society or the Community Care Hospice of Odessa.

ODESSA — Valerio Guerrero Jr. (Chico), 38, of Odessa died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000 at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Iglesia Christiana Maranatha, on Highway 385 and West Mescalero, 5 miles south of I-20 with Alfonso Padilla officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill Ceme- tery.
The family will receive friends Monday 6 p.m. to 9 p.m at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.
He was born in Midland on Dec. 4, 1961. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
His grandparents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his sons, Valerio Guerrero III and David Guerrero of Odessa, parents, Valerio and Lilia Guerrero of Odessa; brothers, Joe Guerrero of Odessa, Alex Guerrero of Spindale N.C., Ignacio Guerrero of Odes- sa, Santiago Guerrero of Odessa, Ramon Guerrero of Odessa; sisters, Elida Padilla of Odessa, Quila Ulate of Odessa, Elizabeth Zubiate of Odessa, Maggie Schumpert of Ruidoso, N.M., Oralia Avila of Midland; half-brother, Sergio Guerrero of Ojinaga, Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.
David Lee Johnson
ODESSA — David Lee Johnson, 29, died March 2, 2000, at his residence after a lengthy illness.
He was born on April 13, 1970, in Yuma, Ariz. He was employed as a roughneck for Roper Energy.
David is survived by his mother, Marjorie G. Durbin of Odessa; father, Roger Durbin of Evansville, Ind.; grandmother, Elsie Bacon of Eureka, Calif.; brothers, Charles Edward Johnson of Tucson, Ariz., Christopher Lee Durbin and Anthony Johnson III, both of Odessa; sister, Debra Lynn Moreland of Evansville, Ind.; nephews, Clayton Roger Moreland and Shawn William Moreland, both of Evansville, Ind., and Noah Genaro Johnson of Tucson, Ariz.
Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. today, March 3, 2000, at Odessa Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2000, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dewey Blevins officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roger Perry, Anthony Johnson, Christopher Durbin, Jason Yearwood, Charles E. Johnson and William Moreland.
Services will be at Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.
Lawrence E. "Dusty" Rhodes
ODESSA — Lawrence E. "Dusty" Rhodes, 78, of Odessa died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village.
The family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He was born March 31, 1921, in Perryton. He married
Mary Margaret "Pat" Bennett June 26, 1949, in Lamesa. They shared 50 wonderful years together.
Mr. Rhodes had worked for Lee Drilling Company and Oilwell Division of U.S. Steel. He was a member of Elks Lodge #1630 and V.F.W. #4372. He served in the Army during World War II. He devoted many hours and years of service to develop the Elks Little League Baseball Program. In April of 1994, the North Ector County Little League dedicated the L.E. "Dusty" Rhodes Field in his honor.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Rhodes of Odessa; sons, Lawrence Rhodes and wife, Karen, of Midland, Tommy Rhodes and wife, Betsy, of Odessa and Jimmy Rhodes and his wife, Mary, of Midland; daughter, Mary Lou Kiphart and husband, Kenny, of Odessa; three grandchildren, Gregory Allen Rhodes of College Station, Jason Andrew Rhodes of Odessa, Karley Rene Kiphart of Odessa; brother, Gilbert Rhodes and wife, Helen, of Shidler, Okla.; sisters, Maudie Justice of Odessa, Texie Hillyer of Salem, Ore., and Edith Lee and husband, Larry, of Calera, Okla.
