Esequiel C. Garcia
ODESSA — Esequiel C. Garcia, 24, of Odessa, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2000, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born Jan. 13, 1975, in San Juan de Guadalupe, Durango, Mexico.
Mr. Garcia will lie in state at his residence at 418 Snyder St. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. today with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. today at the residence. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Mr. Garcia was a forklift operator for Big-Tex Trailers in Odessa.
He married
Gladys Juarez in December of 1995 in Denver.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys of Odessa; son, Esequiel Garcia Jr. of Odessa; daughter, Gabriela Garcia of Odessa; parents, Pedro Soto and Maria Soto of Odessa; brothers, Hector Garcia and Pedro Soto, both of Odessa; sisters, Odelia Soto, Elvia Soto, Lorena Soto and Griselda Puente, all of Odessa; and grandparents Manuel and Lucia Castenada of Mexico.

Maria Delia Valenzuela Gonzales
ODESSA — Maria Delia Valenzuela Gonzales, 69, of Odessa, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2000, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Frank Chavez officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Delia was born Nov. 22, 1930, in Fort Stockton, to Monico Lujan Valenzuela and Petra Hernandez Valenzuela.
She married
Antonio Minjarez Gonzales on Jan. 12, 1947, in Fort Stockton and moved to Odessa in 1950.
Delia Gonzales was a retired Ector County Independent School District food service manager for 20 years.
She received numerous awards for her accomplishments as a food service manager and her dedication for food nutrition of elementary children. She also was an instructor at Odessa College.
Delia was a member and a founder of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and served as president of the Altar Society.
She also was president of the Parish Council, the Diocese Council and a member of the Mexican American Student Association.
Survivors include her husband, Antonio Minjarez Gonzales of Odessa; sons, Antonio V. Gonzales of Kennedale and Raymond V. Gonzales of Odessa; daughters, Linda Ann Gunn of Odessa, Betsy Tenneson of Clyde, Patsy Allen of Abilene, Barbara Kay Sedillos of Andrews and Monica Charlene Perez of Odessa; sister, Henrietta Gonzales of Odessa; 23 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Marie Roberts
ANDREWS — Funeral services for Marie Roberts, 74, of Andrews will be at 2 p.m. today at the Second Baptist Church in Andrews with the Rev. Ivy Shelton, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Sharon Suttle of Midland will be assisting.
Burial will be in the Andrews Old cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
She died Monday, July 10, 2000, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 6, 1925, in Rising Star. She moved to Andrews in 1939. She graduated from Andrews High School in 1944.
She had worked for Humble Oil Company and as an office manager for Carl S. Ham, Inc., both in Andrews.
She married
James W. Roberts April 18, 1946, in Andrews. They moved to Waco and returned to Andrews in 1950. In 1960, Roberts Publishing Company was formed as a corporation.
Roberts Publishing Company owns interest in papers in Andrews, Azle, Brownfield, Gatesville, Granbury, Hereford, Lamesa, Quanah, Seminole, Springtown, Snyder and Vernon.
She was a member of the Andrews Study Club and a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews.
Her husband, James W. Roberts, died Dec. 20, 1997.
She is survived by her sons, Phillip Roberts of Waco, Randall and Banna Roberts of Andrews; family friend, Sharon Suttle of Midland; three grandchildren, Blake Roberts, Brittanie Roberts and Karley Roberts.
Joseph Garner
ODESSA — Joseph Garner, 88, of Odessa, passed away at his home July 10, 2000.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Rose Hill cemetery with the Rev. William Chapman officiating. Services are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Garner was born March 14, 1912, in Eastland County, to Edgar and Martha Blair Garner. He married
Jessie Florence Mercer Sept. 25, 1938, in Woodson. He had worked as a ranch hand for most of his life.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Garner of Odessa; son, Billy Edd Garner of Odessa; his daughters, Delores Garner and Pat Carrell, both of Odessa; his sisters, Sally Ann Tucker of Chandler, Ariz., and Edith Richardson; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Willie Lee "Bill" Wilson
ODESSA — Willie Lee "Bill" Wilson, 72, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born in Purdon on May 7, 1928, to Jonus Murphy and Rhoda White-Wilson.
He served in the U.S. Navy from April 10, 1946, to Jan. 13, 1948, serving most of his term at NAS Ford Island, Hawaii, where he worked as an aviation mechanic. He attained the rank of seaman first class.
He married
Eula Nell Norton on May 22, 1948, in Waxahachie and had four children.
He worked most of his life as a rock bit retipper and was known as one of the best in his trade. He began his career with Varel Manufacturing Company in Dallas. Later, he worked for Walker McDonald Bit Company at several locations and then retired while working for WFJ Drilling Tools Inc. in Odessa.
His wife, Eula Nell, preceded him in death on Aug. 3, 1993.
He is survived by his son, Jack Wilson of Odessa; daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and John Link of Odessa and Darlene and Dennis Sarrell of Hobbs, N.M.; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Corina Wilson of Odessa; brothers, James, Larry and Roger Wilson, all living in East Texas; sisters, Ruth Judge, Linda Armour and Kathy Bennett, all of East Texas; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pastor Bill Counts of Tabernacle Baptist Church officiating.
Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
George Dale Gann
LUBBOCK — George Dale Gann, age 48, of Odessa, died July 12, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
Memorial services will be at noon today in Lubbock at the home of his maternal grandmother, Mildred E. Franklin.
George was born Jan. 15, 1952, in Snyder to George and Betty Gann. He graduated from Coronado High School in Lubbock and attended Odessa College. He worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield for 10 years in Los Angeles as a billing supervisor.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Miller of Odessa; his brother, Robert Louis Gann of Houston; and his sisters, Gale Kerr and Pamela Denise Kincaid both of Odessa.
Services are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Anna Marie Riddle Bowden
ODESSA — Anna Marie Riddle Bowden was born Dec. 9, 1942, in Stanton. She graduated from Lawrence D. Bell High School in Hurst in 1961. She married
Jeff B. Bowden on July 25, 1969.
She is survived by her husband; her sister, LaQuitta Webber and husband, Harold, of Bella Vista, Ark.; three stepchildren; nine grandchildren; a niece and nephew; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends.
Anna Marie was very active in the West Odessa Home Extension Club. She was president and helped to start several other chapters. She was employed with Dillard’s for several years and had been awarded several Pacesetter Awards. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church Chapel with Brother Earnest Easley officiating.
