Benjamin Allen Magallanez
ODESSA — Benjamin Allen Magallanez, 20, of Odessa, a crane operator, passed away Monday, July 31, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Ben was born in Odessa Oct. 25, 1979, to Bernardo and Pearl Magallanez. Ben was an active young man who enjoyed fishing and drawing.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Buenos Nuevos Church with the Rev. Rosario Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Ben is survived by his mother, Pearl Magallanez and his stepfather, Harvey Casarez, both of Odessa; his father, Bernardo Magallanez of Odessa; one sister, Andrea Magallanez of Odessa; and his grandparents, Irene Quintanialla of New Braunfels and Natividad and Andreas Magallanez of Odessa. He is also survived by his special nephew, Isaiah Magallanez of Odessa.
Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Elsworth Greer
RANKIN — Services for Elsworth Greer, 85, of Rankin are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Jim Medley and Ferris Akins officiating. The casket will lie in state at the church. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at East Hill cemetery in Fort Stockton under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Mr. Greer passed away Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, in Midland. He was born March 13, 1915, in Barksdale. He married
Lahoma Rixse May 22, 1937, in Imperial. She preceded him in death Feb. 3, 1973. He later married
Judy Perry Nov. 10, 1979, in Rankin.
Mr. Greer moved to Rankin in 1979 from Imperial and was owner of Greer Oil Company. He was a member of the State Firemen and Fire Marshall’s Association of Texas and taught for 35 years at the Texas A & M Fire Training School and a member of the National Volunteer Fire Council. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rankin, where he served as deacon, Imperial Masonic Lodge, Rankin Fire Department, Lions Club and the Rankin City Council. He was a life member of the Imperial Fire Department and served as director of Upton County Fire District Number One, a former school board member in Buena Vista Independent School District and was a retired justice of the peace for Pecos County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Elma Greer; grandson, Steven Terzich; sister, Nella Wooldridge; and brother, James Greer.
Survivors include: Spouse, Judy Greer of Rankin; sons, Dan E. Greer and wife, Marlene, of Snyder, Leldon Greer and wife, Peggy, of Imperial and Sammy Heflin and wife, Tonie, of St. Lawrence; daughters, Eloma Ashwin of Crane, Laureen Terzich and husband, Ron, of Castroville, Shirley Peel and husband, Kraig, of College Station and Sherie Johnson and husband, Teddy, of Odessa; sisters, Kayloma Dean and husband, L.J., Geraldine Tucker and husband, Richard, and Eileen Coleman and husband, James Henry, all of Campwood; 26 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Lassie Bell Riley Gray
ODESSA — Lassie Bell Riley Gray, age 89, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, in Carlsbad, N.M. Lassie was born Dec. 29, 1910, in Doughtery, Okla. She married
Rev. John Wesley Riley Feb. 27, 1927, in Apache, Okla. They were transferred to Odessa in 1950 by the New Mexico Methodist Conference and charged with building St. Paul’s Methodist Church now known as Mackey’s Chapel; they ministered there until the death of Rev. Riley in 1954. Lassie married
George E. Gray in 1957. Mr. Gray passed on in 1969. Lassie was employed as Dietary Supervisor at Deerings Nursing Home in Odessa. She retired in 1968. She was a member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church and active in UMWC. She moved to Carlsbad in 1982 and resided at Landsun Home. There she served on the food committee, helped in the editing of the home’s newsletter and other activities. She was a member of Eppworth Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by beloved stepson, Arbie Riley, precious granddaughter, Rhodra Greenhill, infant grandson Paul Riley and favorite son-in-law Rev. E.G. Greenhill.
She is survived by her children: Rev. Doyle Riley of Bradenton, Fla., Margaret Greenhill of Pensacola, Fla., Faye Funk of Penwell and John Wesley Riley Jr. of Austin; one sister, Lucille Fish of Vacaville, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mackey’s Chapel.

ODESSA — Mildred Ingram, 75, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, at her residence. She was born Oct. 14, 1924, in Perry, Okla. She married
Jack Ingram Sr. in Oklahoma and they moved to Odessa in 1958. She was a retired bookkeeper for General Machine, Shorty Hall Rig Company and Cherokee Drilling. She loved to travel and had been a member of the Good Sam’s Club and Holiday Rambler Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, Aug. 2, 1989.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Byrd of Florien, La.; sons, Jack Ingram Jr. and Richard Ingram, both of Odessa; three grandchildren, Jack W. Ingram III, Rene Ingram and Jeremiah Byrd; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Alice Laster of Pecos, Dora Kamp and Irene Slater, both of Perry, Okla.
Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. William Chapman officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Martha Galindo Hudson
EL PASO — Martha Galindo Hudson, 42, of El Paso, formerly of Odessa, died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at Sierra Hospital in El Paso. She was born Jan. 4, 1958, in Odessa.
Martha was residing in El Paso since 1995. She was a multi-talented individual, having a B.S.E.E.T. in electronic engineering and a cosmetology degree. She was also a gifted artist. She was a loving wife, devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
She is survived by her loving husband of 18 years, Ronald J. Hudson; her mother, Blanca C. Galindo; father, Ramon T. Galindo; brothers, Ramon D. Galindo of Auburn, Wash., Tony Galindo (Mary), Augustine Galindo (Janie), Victor Galindo (Ana), all of Odessa, and Omar Galindo (Lillian) of South Lake; and one sister, Naomi (Jim) Anderson of Fort Davis.
She is also survived by her baptismal godparents Remi and Dorothy Ramos of Fort Stockton and her godparent for Confirmation Monica V. Monternach of Odessa; 13 nieces and nephews; nine great-nieces and nephews; and several other family members and friends.
Bill Bailey
ODESSA — Bill Bailey, 59, of Odessa, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at Odessa Regional Hospital. He was born to Lee and Elsie Bailey Sept. 25, 1940, in Odessa.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion. He was a route salesman.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Bill loved going to Las Vegas. He always enjoyed gambling and sports, if he had money on the game.
Survivors include sons, Terry Bailey and Brian Bailey, daughter, Misty Garrett, and three grandchildren, Regan, Katie and Ashley, all of Odessa.
His parents preceded him in death.
Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Louis G. Belvedere
ODESSA — Louis G. Belvedere, 75, of Odessa passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at his residence. Louis was born June 27, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he attended Catholic grade school and high school.
He served in the U.S. Naval Air Force and Reserve from 1943 to 1946. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in geology and also was commissioned as ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
Louis married
Evelyn Lue Staton on Dec. 2, 1950, in Fairfield, Ill. She preceded him in death in January 1997.
Louis’ work as a geologist took him from Illinois to Texas from 1948 to 1964. He joined Cardinal Surveys Company of Odessa and Midland in 1968 and retired in 1991. In 1985, he received an award for being the first and only million-dollar salesman.
He is survived by two sons, Steven Belvedere of Texarkana, Texas, and Edward Belvedere of Odessa; a daughter, Beth Ann Hale of Grand Prairie; his twin brother, Joseph Belvedere of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Rose Belvedere of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Marie Longo of Ocala, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Emma Dean Patterson
DALLAS — Emma Dean Patterson, 81, a homemaker, passed away July 22, 2000 in Dallas.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Emma Dean was born July 4, 1919 in Boyd, Texas. Except for the last three years she had been a resident of Odessa and Midland since 1948.
Survivors include daughters, Carol Bluhm of Dallas, Dorothy “Dottie” Howell of Arlington, Kim Clark, of Ft. Worth; step-son, Carl Patterson of Southlake; sisters, Helen Nevis of California, Iva Armstrong, Billie Cole and Doris Peck, all of Texas; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
