Omega La Nette Litton
ODESSA — Omega La Nette Litton, 44, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at her residence.
She was born April 5, 1956, in Odessa. She graduated from Permian High School in 1974 and then received a bachelor of arts degree from Texas Christian University. She received her doctorate in jurisprudence from Texas Tech University School of Law and then was licensed by the Texas Supreme Court to practice law. She practiced law in the Odessa area and had many close friends and clients.
She was preceded in death by her father, John H. Litton and her brother, Jack Eric Litton.
She is survived by her loving mother, Omega Litton; brother John C. Litton and his wife, Pam; sister, De Lura Smerud and her husband, John; two nephews; two nieces; and several other family members.
Services will be at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, with the Rev. Johnny Dickerson officiating.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
John D. Poe
ODESSA — John D. Poe, 65, of Odessa passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Sept. 19, 1934, in Lohn to Johnathan M. and Valley Jane Poe.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Directors. John Odie Poe will officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery.
In 1953, John joined the U.S. Army Reserves. He went into active service in 1957. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam. John married
I’Leen Robinson on March 12, 1968, in Odessa. They made Odessa their home in 1974. John retired from the Army in 1977. He then worked with Haliburton until he retired after 15 years of service. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hulan Poe, J.W. Poe, R.V. Poe and Bill Poe; sisters, Evelyn McGlothlin, Edna Mae Myers and Mary Powell; half-brothers, Other Poe, Ode Poe, Oscar Poe and Ed Poe; half-sisters, Mamie Baker and Lula Robinson.
He is survived by his wife, I’Leen Poe of Odessa; son, Johnathan and his wife, Jacy Poe, of Odessa; daughter, Joanie Dail Poe of Odessa; brother, Henry Lee Poe of Burnet; grandchildren, Jamie Poe, Jordan Poe, Jaylinn Poe, Jon Wade Poe, Tyler Poe and Stormy Poe. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Shari Anne Breaux
ODESSA — Shari Anne Breaux, 40, of Odessa, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born March 22, 1960, in Beaumont. Shari was a longtime Odessa resident.
A 1978 graduate of Permian High School, she attended Odessa College and was a homemaker.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home, followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Revs. Laura Deaderick and Clydel Chapman will officiate.
She is survived by her parents, Baxter and Shirley Breaux of Odessa; three daughters, Tiffany Accadia-Breaux of Denton, Amy Accadia-Breaux of Boulder, Colo., and Robin Wilhelm of Odessa; brothers, Jimmy Breaux and his wife, Mary Hope, of Odessa and Bobby Breaux and his wife, Laura, of Grants Pass, Ore.; and grandmother, Beth Campbell of Odessa. She is also survived by one uncle and aunt, Glen and Doris Breaux of Georgetown, Texas, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church and School at 401 West County Road, Odessa, Texas, 79760.

Noel Ray Henkell
ODESSA — Services for Noel Ray Henkell, 81, of Odessa, are scheduled for 4 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Jack Watkins officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Henkell died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Dec. 25, 1918, in Hatch, N.M. He married
Dorothy Jackson Dec. 27, 1945, in Midland. She died in 1974.
Mr. Henkell moved to Odessa in 1945 from Ballinger. He served in Company C. 142nd Infantry, 36th division during World War II. He was a prisoner of war in Germany for two years, 1943 to 1945. He was a life member of the VFW and the DAV. He was also a member of the American Legion, Eagles Lodge, Moose Lodge and the POW Association. He loved to play golf until health problems forced him to retire from the game. He loved to watch Meagan play softball and tried to attend as many games as his health would let him. He has a host of good friends and will be missed by all his friends and family.
Survivors include sons, Dennis Henkell and wife Nancy of Hurst and Terry Henkell and wife Kelley of Odessa; daughter, Sherry Henkell of Buda; brother, Henry Henkell of Hennessey, Okla.; granddaughters, Cara Mantz of Decatur, Lauralee Hartness of Fort Worth and Meagan Henkell of Odessa; three great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Dakota and Brittan; and special friend Pearl Thackerson.

Mable Fae Womble
ODESSA — Graveside services for Mable Fae Womble, 90, of Odessa, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bobby Phillips officiating. She died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at Avalon Nursing Home.
Mrs. Womble was born Feb. 10, 1910, in Tucumcari, N.M. She moved to Odessa in 1948 from Artesia, N.M. She was a member of Vine Baptist Church and worked for S & T Cleaners for 30 years.
Survivors include daughter, Cleta Jenson of Odessa; four grandchildren; and nephew, W.H. Ledbetter of Hagerman, N.M.

J.W. Green
ODESSA — J.W. Green, 78, of Odessa, a retired machinist for Meither Machines and Bearing, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at New Horizons Nursing Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Floyd Green Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. He was born July 11, 1922, in Winchester to Willie Jackson and Herman M. Green. He was an Army veteran. He was Methodist.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Friday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Mattie Green of Odessa; daughters, Carolyn Sue Wilson and husband, Ken, of Corpus Christi, Lois Jones and husband, Edward, and Brenda Medlock, all of Dallas, and Carolyn Fears and husband, Richard, of Odessa; son, Carl Medlock and wife, Marilyn, of Odessa; brother, Floyd Green of Big Spring; and sisters, Beatrice Clark of Smithville and Mozell Bluford of Sweetwater; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Leon Danforth Turman
ODESSA — Leon "Dan" Turman, 73, of Odessa, died Aug. 9, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born April 28, 1927, in Comstock to Matt and Martha Turman. Dan was raised around Sonora and served in the Army during World War II. He returned to Sonora after the war and married
Vada "Jean" Sessom in 1948. Dan was recalled to active duty in the Army during the Korean War and again returned to Sonora upon his discharge.
He worked in the oilfield and did various jobs until 1957 when he went to work for Clark Oil Company. He moved his family to Iraan for four years and was then transferred to Odessa in 1961 to serve as foreman for Clark Oil. In 1967, he went to work for Delta Drilling as a self-employed rig motor mechanic. He worked 17 years for Delta until 1985 when he retired.
Dan loved his family and enjoyed telling war stories to his grandchildren and always loved to brag about the fish that got away. Dan never said a bad word against anyone. He was a gentle man who appreciated the small things in life. Dan was very proud of serving his country and was very patriotic in all things regarding his country. He was very adamant about how his country should be run. Dan and Jean volunteered for the VFW flower shop, overseeing many volunteers and happily engaging in many projects. Dan was also a 32nd degree mason in the lodge in Iraan. Although he didn’t attend church regularly, he was a true Christian.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters and one grandson.
Dan is survived by wife, Vada "Jean" of Odessa; daughter Dana Allen of Odessa; and sons, Ronnie Turman of Casper, Wyo., and Lin Turman of Odessa. He is also survived by two brothers, J.M. Turman of Fort Stockton and J.T. Turman of Fort Davis; numerous nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
