Clifford Martz
ODESSA — Services for Clifford Lyle Martz, 84, of Odessa are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Danny Willis officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Martz died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital from a lengthy illness. He was born September 25, 1915, in Perkins, Okla. He married
Lorene Pickering on March 10, 1937, in Ada, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents, L.O. and Rena Mae Martz and three brothers.
Mr. Martz moved to Odessa in 1940. He was a retired driller in the oilfield. He was a member of the McFarland Masonic Lodge and Terrace Hills Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene Martz, of Odessa; a son, Michael C. Martz of Canyon Lake; daughters, Kay Martz McKinney of Dallas and Janet Martz Evans and husband Brian of Richardson; sisters, Laura Martz Harris of Eunice, La., and Iva Martz Hubbard of San Jose, Calif.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Annie Laurie (Howard) McCarroll
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. —Annie Laurie (Howard) McCarroll, 78, died June 27, 2000, at the home of her daughter in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Memorial services will be conducted at American Lutheran Church on Thursday, June 29 at 10 a.m. Graveside services will be conducted on July 2 at 2 p.m. at the Merkel (Texas) cemetery.
She was born October 4, 1921, to Lytton Brewer Howard and Beulah Burkett Howard in Abilene, Texas. She spent her childhood in Texas. She was a 1939 graduate of Stephenville High School and attended Tarleton State University and Hardin Simmons University where she studied fine arts.
She was retired from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, where she served as sorority advisor for 14 years.
She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Grand Junction and a former member of Crescent Park Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas. She lived in Odessa from 1987 until 1998 when she moved to Grand Junction.
She was involved in many church activities, volunteered her time at nursing homes, and was a long-time volunteer at the Ellen Noel Art Museum of the Permian Basin in Odessa. She enjoyed the arts, needlepoint, antiques and gardening.
Survivors include: one sister, Mary Mays of Waco, Texas; one daughter, Nancy Ann McCarroll and son-in-law, Gene Kinsey with whom she lived the last months of her life, two sons, Charles Howard McCarroll of College Station, Texas, and John Burkett McCarroll of Georgetown, Texas.
Eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Grand Valley, Grand Junction, Colorado.
Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Mary Inez Steward
ODESSA — Mary Inez Steward, 86, was born June 30, 1913, and passed away Monday, June 26, 2000.
She was a native of Texas, born and raised in Rockwood before moving to Odessa, where she lived for 36 years, retiring from Midland Memorial Hospital. She has resided in Alvin since 1993.
She is survived by four children, Raymond Steward and wife, Louise, of Odessa, Jay Steward and wife, Chelly, of Odessa, Mickey Todd of Pearland and Deborah Harrington of Dallas. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Estaleen Steward of Mozelle; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at Oakpark Funeral Home in Alvin and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2000, at Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Jim Sellers of Tyler at her beloved Rockwood Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2000, followed by interment at Rockwood cemetery.
Louis Y. "Bichy Bee" Ramirez
ODESSA — Louis Y. "Bichy Bee" Ramirez, 64, passed away on June 30, 2000, at his Odessa residence. He was born May 26, 1936, in Big Spring. Mr. Ramirez was a self-employed baker and a member of Victory of Life Church. He is survived by sons, Louis Ramirez Jr. of Odessa, David Ramirez of Rosharon and Manuel Ramirez of Odessa; daughters, Adela Ramirez and Elizabeth Ramirez, both of Odessa; brothers, Manuel Ramirez and Jose Ramirez, both of Denver; sisters, Maria Paredes of Denver and Jessie Noveron of McCamey; and ten grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at noon Monday at Odessa Funeral Home. Prayer services will be at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services have been set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Templo Buenas Nuevas, located at Fifth Street and Vine Avenue, with the Revs. Rosario Hill and Albert Flores officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Lujan, Eli Lujan, Louie Ramirez, Roddy Munoz, Arturo Alvarez and Pete Morales. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home.

Francis LaJuana "Sunny" Deavenport
ODESSA — Services for Francis LaJuana "Sunny" Deavenport, 80, of Odessa are scheduled to be at 4 p.m. Monday at Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ron Rennegarbe officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Restlawn Memorial Park in Hereford, Texas.
Mrs. Deavenport died Thursday, June 29, 2000, in Odessa.
She was born Sept. 15, 1919, in Wellington. She married
Joe Hubert Deavenport on Oct. 11, 1946, in Slaton. He died Jan. 11, 1975.
Mrs. Deavenport moved to Odessa in 1992 from Hereford. She was a retired seamstress and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hereford.
Survivors include: Son, Jeff Deavenport of Broken Arrow, Okla.; daughter, Jo Frances Deavenport Boring of Odessa; sister, Jetta Breith of Midland; eight grandchildren, Carmen A. Low, Zeb M. Foster, Amber L. Boring, Jesse A. Boring, Jeremy T. Deavenport, Shana Deavenport, Jeffery Deavenport and Stefani Deavenport; and one great-granddaughter, Sarah Jo Low.

Donald G. Slusher
ODESSA — Donald G. Slusher, 66, of Odessa died Friday, June 30, 2000, at his residence.
He was born March 26, 1934, in Enid, Okla., and was raised in Tucumcari, N.M., where he met and later married
Jeaninne Hargrove May 29, 1956. In 1962 they moved to Odessa where Don worked as a chemist for El Paso Products until his retirement in 1993. He then started CommWest Paging in 1994 then branched into DMJ Communications which he co-owned with his children. He was a member of Northeast Church of Christ.
Jeaninne died Nov. 15, 1998. On June 10th of this year, Don married
Paula Irene Hanes.
Don was a very compassionate, loving person, friend, Dad, Grandpa, and husband.
Survivors include his wife, Paula of Odessa; sons and daughter-in-law, David and Rhonda Slusher of Odessa and Mark Slusher of Lubbock; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Paul Hooper of Odessa; brothers, Waldo and Delmar Slusher; and sister, Vera Hendricks all of Hanford, Calif. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Melissa Slusher, Blake Slusher, Valorie Slusher, Eric Slusher, Chase Hooper, and Tanner Hooper. Other survivors include Paula’s children, Kim and Scott Miller and their daughter, Abi, of Belton, and Gary and Kim Hanes of Arlington; and Jeaninne’s parents, Homer and Pinkie Hargrove of Odessa.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2000, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Jeff Trahan officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Eunice P. Ansley
ODESSA — Eunice P. Ansley, 78, of Odessa passed away Sunday, July 2, 2000, at her residence.
Mrs. Ansley was born Dec. 7, 1921, in Duncan, Ariz. She married
J. H. Ansley Nov. 18, 1944, in Artesia, N.M. She met him while attending New Mexico State Teachers College in Silver City, N.M.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976 and also preceded by her eldest son, Steven Ansley, in 1980.
Eunice was an avid seamstress and gardener, as well as a devoted wife and dedicated mother and grandmother. She was a very loyal, sincere and generous friend to all who knew her and will be missed by many.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. Mountain Standard Time at Twin Oaks Memorial Park in Artesia, N.M.
Mrs. Ansley is survived by her sons, Jack Ansley and wife, Janet, of Odessa, and Jim Ansley and wife, Carole, of Katy, Texas; her brother, Dee Nunn of Alabama; and seven grandchildren, Karen and Darren Byrd, Jason Johns and Jocelyn, Colby, Alexandra and Juliana Ansley.

Billie Linn Wright
ODESSA — Billie Linn Wright, 83, of Odessa died July 3, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born Nov. 4, 1916, in Midway. She married
Raymond E. Wright in January 1972, in Odessa.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Mission Dorado Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Bratcher officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Denver City cemetery.
She moved to Odessa in 1969 from Denver City. She was a retired nurse, employed from Medical Center Hospital. She loved to cook and collect bells and rocks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Wright in July, 1992. Mr. Wright was a P.O.W.
Mrs. Wright is survived by daughters, Kay Hood of Odessa, Ollie Chandler of Claude and Mariann Caines of Lubbock; sons, Art Linn of Eugene, Ore., and Phillip Linn of Odessa; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and sister, Pauline Bains of Odessa.
