He was born in Kearns and was a former resident of Odessa before moving to Lubbock in 1981. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.,

JAL, N.M. - Thomas H. Deck, 71, retired division warehouse superintendent for El Paso Natural Gas Co., of Jal, N.M. died Sunday, Sept. 7, 1997, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Jal cemetery with the Rev. Mike May officiating. Arrangements by Calvary Funeral Home in Eunice, N.M.
He was born in Garden City, Okla., and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Baptist church.

PECOS - Mary K. Hightower, 95, a retired nanny, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 1997, at Pecos Nursing Home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. today at First Christian Church in Pecos. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
She was born in McKinney and was a longtime resident of Pecos. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Doris Calley Kelton of Pecos and Nancy Snailum of Fort Stockton; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Forest Smith
MONAHANS - Forest 'Sonny' Smith, 71, a computer programmer, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 1997, at Ward Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Monahans Memorial cemetery with the Rev. David Weyany officiating. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Center. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home in Monahans.
He was born in Shawnee, Okla., and had been a resident of Monahans since 1949. He was a Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Kila Renay Massey of Wickett; son, Dini Moore Smith of Monahans; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

MIDLAND - Gertrude Tabors, 54, an employee of Sage Nursing Home, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 1997, at her residence.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Macedonia Baptist Church in Midland with the Rev. O.J. Archie officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.
She was born in Vernon, and moved to Midland in 1958.

Ellen Inez Anderson
ODESSA - Ellen Inez Anderson, 81, of Odessa, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997, at Seabury Nursing Home.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Rosehill cemetery.
She was a member of Tanglewood Church of Christ, and she worked for Medical Center Hospital for 10 years.

PRESIDIO - Israel Pena O'Con, 48, a farmer, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 1997, at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock.

He was born in Redford and lived in Presidio for nine years.

He was born in Big Spring, and had been a resident of Monahans for 17 years. He was a Catholic.
