Saturnino Gonzalez

PECOS - Saturnino Gonzalez, 83, a maintenance worker, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 1997, in Odessa.

Rosary was said Friday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel in Pecos. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Catherine Catholic Church with the Rev. Juan Narez officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

He was born in Musquiz, Coahuila, Mexico, and was a lifelong resident of Pecos.

SURVIVORS: Rogelio Gonzalez, Oscar Nolberto Gonzalez, Mario Saturnino Gonzalez and Hector Gonzalo Gonzalez, all of Nueva Rosita, Mexico, Victor Manuel Gonzales of Piedras Negras, Mexico, Juan De Dios Gonzalez of Monahans, Enedino Gonzalez of Pecos, and Francisco Javier Gonzalez of Austin; daughters, Emilia Gonzalez of Nueva Rosita, Mexico, Felipa Gonzalez of Pecos and Thelma Fabiola Gonzalez and Narce Dalia Gonzalez, both of Austin; brothers, Serafin Gonzalez of Nueva Rosita, Mexico; sisters, Maria De La Rosa of Pecos and Florinda Bustamante of Nueva Rosita, Mexico; 43 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Marylyn Lewis

MONAHANS - Marylyn 'Hunt' Thurman Lewis, 56, retired city administrator for the City of Grandfalls, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1997, at Ward Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Grandfalls Union Church. Burial will be in Tamarisk cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home in Monahans.

She was born in Vernon and had lived in Midland for 16 years. She was a member of the Grandfalls Union Church.

SURVIVORS: Husband, David Lewis of Royalty; parents, Elmer and Lee Hunt of Royalty; son, Mike Cornelius of Monahans; brother, Larry Hunt of Grandfalls; sister, Jan Grizzle of Hagerman, N.M.; and three grandchildren.

Cecil Patterson

FORT STOCKTON - Cecil V. Patterson, 83, a ranching and oil production manager, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 1997, in Fort Stockton.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Fort Stockton with the Rev. Jeff Witcher officiating. Burial will be at East Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

He was a lifetime resident of Fort Stockton and a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Fern Patterson of Fort Stockton; daughters, Donna Fern Smith of Georgetown and Celia Jo Tibbitts of Fort Stockton; brothers, J.C. Patterson of Farmington, N.M., and Billy M. Patterson of Monahans; sister, Jessie Jewell Harvick of Monahans; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several foster children.

Sara Rios

ODESSA - Sara Rios, 88, a homemaker of Odessa died Thursday, Sept. 11, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Rosary was said Friday at Martinez Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Luis Cepeda officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

She was born in El Mulato Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, and moved to Odessa three months ago from Presidio. She was a Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Son, Paul Rios of Presidio; daughters, Manuela Rodriguez of Riverside, Calif., Natalia Perez of Ojinaga, Mexico, Amelia Sanchez of Odessa and Concha Guardiola of Kermit; and brothers, Julio Ramirez of Andrews and Gubencio Ramirez of Midland.

Alvie McWilliams

ANDREWS - Alvie McWilliams, 72, of Andrews died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997, at Midland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are pending with McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.

Toby Miller

ODESSA - Toby Miller, 92, died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Robert Smith

ODESSA - Robert Tyler Smith, 7 days, of Odessa died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997, at his residence.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Sylvia Beghtol

BIG SPRING - Sylvia M. Beghtol, 83, of Odessa, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital of a lengthy illness.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. Ronnie Newton officiating. Arrangements made by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born Dec. 20, 1913, in Trinidad, Colo.

SURVIVORS: Sister, Pearl Marie Klahr of Odessa.

Vera Cates

ROSWELL, N.M. - Vera Faye Cates, 84, a former Odessa resident, died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Memory Lawn cemetery with the Rev. David Treybig officiating. Arrangements made by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

She was born in Nacogdoches and had lived in Roswell and Odessa before moving to Amarillo in 1995. She was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Acie Homer Cates Jr. of Amarillo and Robert Allen Cates of Phoenix; daughter, Marjorie Faye Curry of Cedar Hill; sisters, Gladys Tarwater of Roswell and Margaret Mayhew of Las Vegas; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Alvie McWilliams

ANDREWS - Alvie Edwin McWilliams, 72, died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997, at Midland Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. H.A. Hanks officiating. Burial will be at the Andrews North cemetery. Arrangements made by McNett Funeral Home.

He was born Dec. 31, 1924, in Roosevelt County, N.M. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and had lived in Andrews since 1950. He was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Doris McWilliams of Andrews; son, Ronnie McWilliams of Seminole and Bobby McWilliams of Midland; daughter, Marilyn Reid of Andrews; brothers, Leo McWilliams of Lubbock and Vernon McWilliams of Clovis, N.M.; sister, Freta Hawkins of Chama, N.M.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Robert Smith

ODESSA - Robert Tyler Smith, 7 days, died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements made by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born Sept. 5, 1997, in Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Parents, Robert and Lisa Smith of Odessa; sisters, Taylor Brooke Smith and Roeshelle Paige Smith, both of Odessa; grandmother, Ruth Smith of Monahans; grandparents, Billy and Gloria Dunn of Monahans and great-grandmother, Doris Martin of Odessa.

Myrtle Steakley

SEMINOLE - Myrtle Gladys Steakley, 87, a homemaker, died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997, in Seminole.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Gaines County cemetery with the Rev. Ernest Wall officiating. Arrangements made by the Roger Pool Funeral Home.

She was born Feb. 24, 1910, in Oplin and moved to Seminole from Seagraves in 1934.

SURVIVORS: Nieces, Joyce Schindler of Midland and Melba Jean Dyer of Fort Worth.
