SWEETWATER — R.L. "Leroy" McFarland, 81, of Blackwell, a retired shop manager for the Odessa office of Phillips Petroleum Co., died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Curry officiating. Burial will be at the Blackwell cemetery in Blackwell. Arrangements by Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

He was born in Blackwell. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Jynelle McFarland of Blackwell; daughters, Robbie Smiley of Odessa and Sandra Birchfield of Andrews; sister, Oleta Scott of Blackwell; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Miquel Morrison

ODESSA — Miquel "Mike" H. Morrison, 72, of Odessa, a retired mechanical engineer for Cenatco Oil Co., died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, in Santa Fe, N.M.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church with the Revs. Michael A. Jasper and Bernardo Martinez officiating. Arrangements coordinated by St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Cremation by Direct Funeral Services.

He was born in Burkburnet. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Pauline Morrison of Odessa; son, Michael T. Morrison of Armore, Okla.; daughters, Susie Wright of Armore, Joann Johnston of Irving and Barbara Blanchard of Odessa; sister, Maureen Long of Oswego, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Salvador Pantoja

MARFA — Salvador Fierro Pantoja, 74, of Marfa, a retired employee of Union Pacific Railroad Co., died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Merced cemetery with the Rev. Rick Ruiz officiating. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.

He was born in Valentine and had been a resident of Marfa since 1971.

SURVIVORS: There are no survivors listed.

Maria Regalado

ODESSA — Maria Regalado, 101, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Chapel with Humberto Porras officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

She was born in San Pedro, Mexico.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Celestina R. Garcia of Odessa; brother, Zenaido Regalado of Odessa; and five grandchildren.

Gladys White

ODESSA — Gladys Mable White, 81, of Midland, a retired beautician, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at Rockwood Manor in Midland.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Altus, Okla.

SURVIVORS: Son, Wendell Robinson of Odessa; and a grandson.

Willard Meadows

ODESSA — Willard Meadows, 86, of Odessa died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Arrangements are pending with Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Jesse Vasquez

ODESSA — Jesse Vasquez, 38, of Odessa, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Arrangements are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

John Bruton

RUIDOSO, N.M. — John Harley Bruton, 73, of Ruidoso, N.M., a retired cost analyzer for Phillips 66 Oil Co., died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, in Ruidoso.

No services are scheduled.

He was born in Stephenville and had been a resident of Odessa before moving to Ruidoso. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Cynthia Crenshaw of Lancaster; father, John L. Bruton of Weatherford; and sister, Maxine Richardson of Weatherford.

Alfredo Fierro

ALPINE — Alfredo "Fidie" D. Fierro, 63, of Alpine, a truck driver for the city of Alpine, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, in Alpine.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Rick Ruiz officiating. Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be at Holy Angels cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.

He was born in Alpine and had been a lifelong resident. He was an Army veteran. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Elisa Fierro of Alpine; daughter, Veronica Fierro of Alpine; sister, Dominga Aguilera of Odessa; brothers, Roberto Fierro and Daniel Fierro, both of El Paso, and Ramon Fierro of Alpine; and two grandsons.

Sadie Guinn

SAGERTON — Sadie Sue Speck Guinn, 63, of Sagerton, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, in Abilene.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sagerton United Methodist Church with the Revs. Tommy Wilson and Truett Kuenstler officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Kinney Funeral Home.

She was born in Rochester and had been a resident of Odessa. She was Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Husband, John Guinn of Sagerton; daughter, Deborah Jean Guinn of Lubbock; and brother, Jerald Speck of Dallas.

Jim Peoples

CRANE — Jim Peoples Sr., 74, of McCamey, a retired pusher for T&K Oilfield Co., died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Crane County cemetery with the Rev. Lyndel Lee officiating. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.

He was born in Del Rio and had been a longtime resident of Crane before moving to McCamey. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: Son, Jim Peoples Jr. of McCamey; daughters, Judy Timmons of McCamey and Anna Gunnels of Midland; brother, Charlie Peoples of Crane; sisters, Wilma Williams of Sabinal, Bill Pilgram of Andrews and Lottie Burdic of Ingram; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Grace Schaafsma

FORT DAVIS — Grace Alice Schaafsma, 90, of Fort Davis, a retired teacher, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at the Sullivan Home in Fort Davis.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Hillcrest cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.

She was born in San Antonio and was a longtime resident of Fort Davis.

SURVIVORS: Stepson, Curtis Schaafsma of Arizona; and two grandsons.
