ODESSA — Avelino Sanchez Sr., 74, of Odessa, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel and from 8 a.m. to 1:45 a.m. at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.
He was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Colorado City.
He married
Maria Hinojos.
He was a retired employee of Keys Construction.
Survivors include his wife, Maria R. Sanchez of Odessa; sons, Alfredo Sanchez of El Paso, and Avelino Sanchez Jr. and Alonzo Sanchez, both of Austin; daughters, Romelia Gonzales and Sylvia Gonzales, both of Austin, and Catalina Rojo of Odessa; brothers, Bacilio C. Sanchez and Luis C. Sanchez, both of Odessa, and Trini Sanchez of Garland; sister, Tomasa Garza of Fort Worth; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Roger Herndon
MIDLAND — Roger Herndon, 62, of Midland, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, died at his home Friday, Sept. 1, 2000.
Memorial services will be at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Presbyterian Church with the Rev. William Clark officiating. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.
He was born in Eunice, N.M. He was a Odessa High School graduate. He served in Okinawa and Puerto Rico as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps in the late 50s and early 60s. He also established Herndon Inspection Service of Midland.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Lana Herndon of Midland; sons, Jack Herndon and Cary Herndon of Wakenney, Kan.; daughters, Shana Herndon of Dallas and Dena Herndon Moore of Austin; sister, Diantha Langley of Houston; and four grandchildren.

CORPUS CHRISTI — Benito R. Arredondo Sr., 78, a retired agriculturist, died Aug. 26, 2000, at a Lubbock Hospital.
