MONAHANS — Susana Silvas, 66, of Monahans, a retired cafeteria worker for Monahans Independent School District, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. John’s Catholic Church with the Rev. John Lucido officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.
She was born in Sanderson and had been a resident of Monahans since 1963. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Rosendo Silvas of Monahans; daughter, Chriselda Juarez of Monahans; mother, Aurora Barrera of San Antonio; brothers, Santiago Barrera and Gilbert Barrera, both of San Antonio, and Homero Barrera of Pecos; sisters, Rita Gonzalez of Andrews and Virginia Ochoa of Del Rio; and two grandchildren.
James Miles
ODESSA - James Earl Miles, 54, of Odessa, a minister at Faith Baptist Church in Kermit, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. H.A. Bowens officiating. Burial will be at Ector County cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in Crane. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was Baptist.

Claudia Moss
CHRISTOVAL - Claudia "MeMaw" Moss, 77, of Crane, a retired federal employee, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Buddy Truell officiating. Burial will follow at the Christoval cemetery. Arrangements by Richard W. Box Funeral Home.
She was born in Ozona. She was Baptist.

Ramona Corrales
ODESSA — Ramona Corrales, 60, of Odessa, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Zada Seely
ODESSA — Zada B. Seely, 68, of Odessa, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at her residence.

Don Doan
ODESSA — Don went home to be with the Lord on June 8, 1999.
He was born in Merkel on Sept. 13, 1927. He grew up in Merkel and Stamford. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He married
Neva Bishop on Aug. 27, 1952. He owned and operated businesses in Merkel and Stamford, and then moved to Pecos where he was a partner of Gibson’s Discount Center from 1965 to 1979.
He served as a city councilman from 1974 to 1976. He then retired and moved to Odessa in 1983, where he had resided until his death.
He is survived by his loving wife, Neva; one daughter, Dianne Hesseltine and husband, Len, of Spring; two sons, Steve Doan and wife, Rhonda, of Odessa and Kevin Doan and wife, Kim, of Midland. He had six grandchildren, Ashley Hesseltine, Tatum and Tyler Doan, Kyle, Kendal and Kalen Doan; one sister, Sis Chenault of Pecos; a brother, Billy D. Doan of Merkel; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 1999 at Frank Wilson Funeral Chapel. Graveside services and interment will be in Merkel at 2:30 p.m. at Rose Hill cemetery. Omer Bishop, his brother-in-law, and Rev. Weeks Dubose will preside over the services.
He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Mission Odessa.
Eva Olivas
ODESSA — Eva Olivas, 59, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Monday, June 7, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Francis Frey officiating. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Rosehill cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Chapel.
She was born in Presidio.

Olivas, Reggie Olivas, Randy Olivas and Ronnie Olivas, all of Odessa; daughters, Lisa Olivas, Rosalva Olivas and Rosanna Olivas, all of Odessa; brothers, Manuel Calderon, Ramon Calderon and Abelardo Calderon, all of Dallas; sisters, Aurora Villegas and Maria Prieto, both of Odessa; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Madlyn Stewart
ODESSA — Madlyn W. Stewart of Odessa died Friday, May 14, 1999, in Odessa. She lived the last four years of her life with her daughters.
She was born Dec. 28, 1915, in Gonzales County, Texas. She married
Harley Stewart on June 1, 1938, in Alpine. During World War II, she was a bookkeeper in the shipyards in Seattle. They moved to Odessa from Provo, Utah, in 1957.
She was a charter member of Asbury United Methodist Church and Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was a loving and caring mother who participated in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Ross Elementary PTA for two generations.
A great dancer, she taught ballet, tap and ballroom dancing. She was a generous a volunteer; being involved with every Heart Association and American Cancer Society Drive that she could. She loved camping and her flowers and plants.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Stewart, on Sept. 7, 1983.
Survivors include her daughters, Jan Ryder and husband, Elvin, of Odessa, and Peggy Blue of Jackson, Miss.; and son, Shane Stewart of Dallas.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Beth and Diana Pollard of College Station, Texas, and Laurel and Megan Blue of Jackson, Miss.; and brother, Willie Wilkinson of Falfurrias.
The family will receive friends at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 17, 1999, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Willie Wilkinson officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

PECOS Adan T. Garcia, 72, of Pecos, a retired laborer, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, in Crane.

He was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, and had been a lifelong resident of Pecos. He was Catholic.

Garcia Jr. of Pecos and George Garcia of Harlingen; sister, Socorro Lujan of Midland; brothers, Raul Garcia, Cano Garcia, Beto Garcia, Leonel Garcia and Alonso Garcia, all of Pecos; 32 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

DENVER CITY Ida Jane Garner, 99, of Denver City, a homemaker, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Canterbury Villa in Denver City.

She was born in Amity, Ark., and moved to Denver City in 1956 from Stillwater, Okla. She was Methodist.

OLNEY J.L. "Red" Mahan, 81, of Odessa, retired owner of Mahans Water Well Drilling, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at his residence.
