Anita Doris McCormick
SPRINGFIELD, MO. — Anita Doris McCormick, 79, of Springfield, Mo., passed away at 2:22 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2000, in the Manor at Elfindale.
Doris was born Jan. 14, 1921 in McAlester, Okla. to David Lewis and Evelyn McCay Templeton. She graduated from McAlester High School. She was married
to Frank K. McCormick on Oct. 17, 1940. He was a longtime employee of El Paso Natural Gas Co. They lived in Goldsmith for many years and later in Odessa before moving to Springfield in 1985. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, David and Louie Templeton; and her husband, who died Feb. 1, 1994. She is survived by two daughters, Kay Miller and her husband, Lowell, of Springfield, Mo., and Mary Ivy and her husband, Larry, of Fairfield; four grandchildren, Audra Robinson and her husband, Blake, of Fairfield, Mark Miller and his wife, Natalie, of Nixa, Mo., Todd Miller and his wife, Gina, of Springfield, Mo., and Mike Miller of Kansas City, Mo.; and two great-grandchildren, Logan Miller and Ivy Robinson.
The family wishes to extend its love and deep appreciation to the staff of the Manor at Elfindale for their dedicated and devoted care of Doris for the past four years.
Graveside service and burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2000, in Springfield National cemetery. Informal visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole, where family visitation will be from noon until service time Monday. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1944 E. Sunshine, Springfield, Mo., 65804.
William Allen Triplett
BIG SPRING — William Allen Triplett, age 74, of Odessa died Saturday, June 24, 2000, at his home in Odessa with his family present.
Mr. Triplett had a very successful career as an insurance salesman with A.U.C. Insurance Company.
Memorial services will be at a later date.
He was born Oct. 16, 1925, in Oklahoma City. William was the son of Velma Laura and Ervin Eugene Triplett I, and he had two brothers, Erbin E. Triplett and Jackie Triplett. They all preceded him in death.
He married
Louise Matilda Triplett on Sept. 29, 1948, at First Christian Church in Oklahoma City.
They had three children, Mark Allen, Tracy Ann and Kevin Scott.
Louise preceded him in death at age 50 in May 1980.
He served the U.S. Coast Guard on a destroyer escort during World War II, and then graduated from Oklahoma City University with a degree in accounting.
He married
Virginia Gay Jones on January 1, 1981. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge in Goldsmith.
Survivors include his wife, Gay, of Odessa; sons and wives, Mark Allen and Nilsa Triplett of Plano and Kevin Scott and Stacy Triplett of Round Rock, Texas; one daughter, Tracy Ann Triplett of Austin; one stepson, Jack L. McMahan of Colbert, Okla.; one stepdaughter and her husband, Leslie Ann and Steve Timmons of Lubbock; five grandchildren, William Mark and Catherine Louise of Plano, Jessie Lyn and Amy McMahan of Colbert, Okla., lan Chase Timmons of Lubbock; and one great-grandson, Aaron Lane McMahan; and two special cousins, Jack and Stephanie Rahm.
Other special people he leaves behind are friends Fayne and Betty Shead, Jessie and Lois Chisum, Bob and Sue Bybee, Mike and Ocha Moore, and Red and Cly Flenniken. A heartfelt thanks to Dr. James K. Burks and staff at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Dr. Timothy George and staff at West Texas Cancer Center and the staff at Community Care Hospice.

Marvin O. "Jenks" Roberts
KERMIT — Retired First Sgt. Marvin O. "Jenks" Roberts, 60, a 22-year resident of Kermit, died Thursday, June 22, 2000, at Odessa Medical Center. He was born in Harris Valley on Dec. 8, 1939, the fourth son of Floyd and Mary Jenkins Roberts.
He proudly served for 20 years in the United States Marine Corps. He was sent to Cuba during the missile crisis and was also a Vietnam veteran.
He married
Sarah Herring on Dec. 29, 1964 in Cotulla.
After retiring to West Texas, he worked in the oilfield, took the 1990 Census and ran the Phillips gas station in Kermit. He most recently worked as the community service coordinator for Winkler County Probation Office and served as the State District Court and Winkler County Court bailiff.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sarah H. Roberts; a daughter, Sarah Beth Roberts of San Antonio; a daughter, Mary Frances Alvarado of Fort Worth; a grandson, Cody Robert Alvarado of Fort Worth; five brothers, Cecil F. Roberts of Cotulla, James A. Roberts of Dickinson, N.D., George E. Roberts of Edgewood, Md., Harry L. Roberts of San Antonio, and Donald L. Roberts of Corpus Christi; one sister, Rosemary Talkington of Alice; and many beloved relatives and friends across the nation. He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest brother, Robert Lee Roberts Sr.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church in Kermit with the Rev. Beth Harrington officiating. Burial will follow at the Kermit cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harry Roberts, Teddy Roberts, Donald Roberts, Jimmy Roberts, George Roberts and Robert Roberts Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the First United Methodist Church in Kermit or to the American Cancer Society.
Lillian McElroy
WALNUT SPRINGS — Lillian McElroy, 92, of Odessa, died Sunday, July 4, 1999, at Avalon Nursing Home.
She was born in Bosque County near the town of Walnut Springs. She was a graduate of Walnut Springs High School and attended Meredion Senior College for two years. She taught in two county schools and then in Idalou after which she entered the University of Texas at Austin and received a bachelor of arts degree. She taught at Dilley Elementary for four years and one year in Waco.
She came to Odessa in 1936 where she was employed by Austin Elementary until 1992 until her retirement.
She was an exchange teacher in Scotland from 1947 to 1949.
She was a member of R.T.A., Delta Kappa Gamma and First Baptist Church.
She is survived by one sister, Gloria Miller of Montpelier, Ohio; niece, Beth Martin of Churbusco, Ind.; one nephew of Phoenix, Ariz., and one nephew of Peoria, Ill.; and a number of great-nephews and great-nieces. There will be private services in Walnut Springs.
Interment will be in Russell County cemetery.
Augusta Clark
ODESSA — Augusta R. Clark, 80, of Odessa died Thursday, July 8, 1999, at her home.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord. She was born in Pine Bluff.
Survivors include her sons, John Scott Clark of Petaluma, Calif., Matthew Allen Clark of Portland, Ore., Peter Brett Clark of Beaumont, Mark Logan Clark and Paul Lyman Clark, both of Odessa; sisters, Martha Johnson of Dallas and Mary Frances Elizey of Perryton; and seven grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Buck Scheile
ODESSA — Buck "Sam" Scheile, born Jan. 1, 1948, in Odessa, went to be with the Lord on June 28, 1999.
Sam was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his yard with his dog, eating ribs and preaching the word of God.
During his lifetime, Sam was a remodeler, a pipe tester and a soldier in the Vietnam War.
Sam is survived by his wife, Robbie L. Scheile; son, Samuel A. Scheile; daughters Kasey L. Scheile and Karey A Grametbaur; mother, Annie L. Scheile, all of Odessa. Survivors also include sister, Judy S. Archer of Alberta, Canada; and brother, Henry Scheile of Schoolcraft, Mich. Sam was preceded in death by his father, Henry A. Scheile and sister, JoAnn Carter.
Services were conducted at the Promised Land Christian Retreat on July 2, 1999 by Pastor Jean Oden.
Pallbearers were Jesse Jones, Cecil Jones, Les Jones, Jestin Woodruff, Ben Carter and Dudley Mahan.
Services were entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Sam fought a hard battle the last four years of his life.
During this time he was blessed by many wonderful nurses, techs, other patients and friends.
He will be greatly missed.
