EARLY - L.A. Croom, 75, a retired Odessa assistant fire marshal, died Saturday, April 19, 1997, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating. Burial will be at Varga Chapel cemetery in San Saba County. Arrangements by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
He was born in Brownwood and moved to Lake Brownwood in 1977 from Odessa, where he had lived since 1953. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Mary Croom of Lake Brownwood; sons, David Croom of Brownwood and Joe Croom of Cleburne; daughters, Barbara Jordan of North Richland Hills and Peggy Tijerina of Odessa; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren.
Geraldo Olivas
DELICIAS, Mexico - Gerald Olivas, 40, a construction laborer, died April 17, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be held at a later date in Delicias. Burial will be at Cementerio Municipal. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.
He was born in Delicias and was a resident of Odessa.

ODESSA - Emanuel Boy Ronquillo, newborn son of Manuel and Sandra Ronquillo, died Sunday, April 20, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Rose Hill cemetery with Deacon Barney Mercado officiating. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.
He was born in Odessa.

ODESSA - Robert Howard Taylor, 71, of Odessa, died Sunday, April 20, 1997, at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Eisenhower Church of Christ with Eddie Parrish officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Electra and came to Odessa in 1961. He served 20 years in the U.S. Army and was a member of Church of Christ.

She was born in Eastland and moved to Eastland five years ago from Brownwood. She was Methodist.

Susie Bachtell
GRAHAM - Susie Delaney Bachtell, 91, a grocer, died Thursday, April 17, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

She was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., and was a resident of Odessa. She was a Baptist.

ABILENE - Jack Henry Baker, 56, a railroad engineer, died Thursday, April 17, 1997, in Dolen.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Heavenly Rest Episcopal Church in Abilene with the Revs. Rosemary P. Thomas and J. Scott Mayer officiating. Burial will be at Woodson cemetery, and arrangements are by Starbuck Funeral Home.
He was born in Menard and was a resident of Merkel.

BRECKENRIDGE - John Lester Clifton, 74, died Friday, April 18, 1997, at Hendricks Medical Center in Abilene.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Morehart Mortuary in Breckenridge with the Rev. David McGraw officiating. Burial will be at Wayland cemetery, with arrangements by Morehart Mortuary.
He was born in Ardmore, Okla., and was a resident Odessa before moving to Breckenridge. He was a veteran of World War II.

He was born in Eastland and was a resident of Odessa. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a Baptist.
