BAIRD — Wilburn L. Lake, 62, of Baird, a retired oilfield worker, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Abilene Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at Ross cemetery Annex with Robert Park officiating. Arrangements by Parker Funeral Home.
He was born in Holdenville, Okla., and had been a resident of Baird for six months.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Charlotte Lake of Baird; sons, Tommy Lake of Baird, Timothy "Timmy" Lake of Florida, Richard Brian Lake and Hunter Lyle Lake, both of Odessa; daughter, Renae Lake of Florida; sisters, Audine Merit and Louise Cullison, both of Odessa, and Barbara Sue Phillips of Oklahoma; and five grandchildren.
John ‘Papa John’ Griffith
ODESSA - John "Papa John" Griffith, 80 years of age, passed away on January 5, 2001 at his Odessa residence after a brief illness.
He was born on November 18, 1920 in Walmount, Canada to Jay and Betsy Griffith.
Mr. Griffith was a self-employed truck driver and he served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was preceded in death by a son, Sonny Griffith.
He is survived by sons, Jimmy Griffith of Arizona, Christian Ray of Georgia and Wayne Lipford of Odessa; daughters, Mary Adkisson, Vicky Callahan and Heather Mooney, all of Odessa, and Tina Merchant of Missis-sippi; sister, Thelma Gene of California; 36 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation at Odessa Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. today.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at 1001 W. 21st Street in Odessa. Interment will be private.

Bobby Miller
ODESSA — Bobby Lee Miller, 50, of Odessa, a salesman, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Paul Weymouth officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Odessa and was a lifelong resident.

MARFA — Ruth Pierce, 93, of Marfa, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at her residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Conner officiating. Burial will follow at Marfa cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.
She was born in Rockwall and had been a resident of Marfa since 1973. She was Baptist.

Maleta Rasberry
ODESSA — Maleta F. Rasberry, 82, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at New Horizons Nursing Home.

She was born in Sylvester. She was Pentecostal.

AUSTIN — Thelma Faye Rodgers, 93, of Austin, a homemaker, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, in Groves.

She was born in Cisco.

ODESSA — O.B. Watts, 85, of Colbert, Ga., a retired pulling unit operator for Poole Well Servicing Co., died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, in Athens, Ga.

He was born in Rising Star and moved to Odessa in the late 1930s.

Edward Lee Lewis
ODESSA — Edward Lee Lewis, 67, of Midland went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital after a lengthy battle with his heart.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Lewis was born May 7, 1933, in Donna, Texas to Ira and Della Lewis, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Lewis married
Gladys Lewis on June 1, 1952 and worked and retired at El Paso Products in Odessa.
Survivors include his wife and best friend, Gladys Lewis of Midland, sons, Eddie Lewis and wife, Julie, Mike Lewis and wife Beth Anne, daughters, Cathy Betzel, Sharon Burns and husband Buddy, sister, Helen Kirkpatrick of Andrews, known and loved as Papa to them were his grandchildren, Adam, Mandy, Amy, Stefanie, Lindsey, Sara, Karissa, Bobby, Tiffany, Dakota and Kaytlynn and great-granddaughter, Makayla. Aunts, Grace Holland and Arlene Pack, uncle, Buck Holland and many nieces and nephews.

ODESSA — Lupe R. Lopez, 56, of Odessa, a housekeeper for Texas Instruments, died Friday, January 5, 2001, at her home.
A prayer service will be at 2 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with her brother, Eliseo Lopez officiating.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Crescent Park Church of Christ with evangelist Paul M. Smith officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Her nephews, Efrain Hernandez, Gabriel Hernandez, Joel Lopez, Fabian Lopez, Joey Andrade and Eliseo Lopez Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home.
She was born in Ysleta. She was a member of the Crescent Park Church of Christ.
