ODESSA John Lamar Rhodes, 77, of Odessa, a retired employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Hubbard-Kelly Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Jasper, Fla., and had been a resident of Odessa since 1955. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Norma Rhodes of Odessa; son, Benny Rhodes of Clyde; stepson, Glenn C. Blaskey of Odessa; stepdaughter, Gayle Ali of Odessa; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Robert Sappington
JAL, N.M. Robert M. "Bob" Sappington, 76, of Jal, N.M., a retired employee of El Paso Natural Gas Co., died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at the Kermit Health Care Center in Kermit.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. MDT Friday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. G.A. Magee officiating. Burial will be at Jal cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.
He was born in Lake Creek, Okla., and had been a resident of Jal for 49 years. He was a Merchant Marines veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Lou Sappington of Jal; sons, William Fred Sappington of Big Spring and Robert Fite Sappington of Winter Haven, Fla.; daughters, Rebekah Lou Torres of Dayton, Ohio, and Alice Nell Sappington of Spade; brother, John Gerald Sappington of Amarillo; and two grandchildren.

ODESSA Bobby Quintin Sewell, 46, of Odessa, a roughneck, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Robert Berry officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Monroe, La. He was Baptist.

CLEBURNE Ted Dickerson Cousins, 85, of Granbury, a homemaker, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, in Cleburne.

She was born in Cleburne and had been a resident of Odessa.

FORT STOCKTON Ramona S. Garcia, 88, of Uvalde, a homemaker, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, in Santa Fe.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. David Herrera officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
She was born in Fort Stockton and had been a resident of Uvalde for two years. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Ramon Garcia of Fort Stockton and Jose Sosa of Odessa; daughter, Marcelina S. Newman of Uvalde; sister, Candida Navarreta of Fort Stockton; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

ODESSA Edgar Jackson Garrett, 76, of Odessa, a retired welder, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

He was born in Murdock, Ill., and had been a resident of Odessa since 1974. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.

He was born in Everett, Mass. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

MARFA Jesus Jacquez Prieto, 71, of Marfa, a retired employee of the city of Marfa, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, in Marfa.

He was born in Ruidosa and was a longtime resident of Marfa. He was Catholic.
