Lonnie Southern

ANDREWS — Lonnie Southern, 69, of Andrews, a retired reverse rig operator, died Friday, June 30, 2000, at his residence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at McNett Funeral Home with the Revs. Roy Ervin Southern and Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will be at Andrews West cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.

He was born in Baskin, La., and moved to Andrews in 1960. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Doris M. Southern of Andrews; sons, Bobby Dale Southern of Gilbert. La., Lonnie Gene Southern of Donaldsonville, La., George Allen Southern of Denison; daughters, Sharon Annette Southern, Treva Carol Southern and Patty Renee Acosta, all of Andrews, Evelyn Delphena Southern of Plaquemine, La., Barbara Elaine Carver of Haughton, La., and Cecelia Melvin Carver of Colorado City; brothers, Melvin Southern of Andrews, Edward Southern of Gilbert, La., and Roy Ervin Southern of Arcadia, La.; sisters, Georgia May Clark and Juanita Bennett, both of Winnsboro, La., Barbara Denny of Lakesville, Minn., Nell Eley of Gilbert, La., and Sarah Holmes of Duck Hill, Miss.; 24 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Ygnacio Subia

MONAHANS — Ygnacio U. Subia, 79, of Midland, a retired janitor, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, in Midland.

Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. today at St. John’s Catholic Church with the Rev. John Lucido officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

He was born in Grandfalls. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Armando Subia and Ygnacio Subia Jr., both of Midland, and Arturo Subia of Pyote; daughters, Connie Valenzuela and Irma Lujan, both of Monahans, and Ofelia Sylvia Subia of Austin; brother, Frank Subia of Monahans; sisters, Loretta Carrasco and Patsy Armendariz, both of Odessa, and Epifania Subia of Monahans; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Jimmy Whetstone

COLLEYVILLE — Jimmy Ray Whetstone, 65, of Colleyville, an electrical engineer, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, in Irving.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Burial will be at Resthaven cemetery in Wichita, Kan. Arrangements by Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home.

He was born in Abilene. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Coye Whetstone of Colleyville; daughters, Kim Younger of Fort Worth, Karen Florence of Houston and Kristi Bliss and Kellie Bliss, both of Wichita, Kan.; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Carlos Dominguez Sr.

KERMIT — Carlos Buardiola Dominguez Sr., 76, of Kermit, a retired maintenance man, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at his residence.

Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. John Lucido officiating. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at 309 N. Avenue C. Burial will be at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home Chapel.

He was born in Bronte and had been a resident of Kermit for 54 years. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Carmen Dominguez and Carlos Dominguez Jr., both of Kermit; daughter, Gloria Galindo of Las Cruces, N.M.; brother, Jose Dominguez of Kermit and Modesto Dominguez of Midland; sisters, Manuela Contreras of Grand Prairie, Celestina Lujan of Kermit and Mary Lou Solis of Irving; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Juan Jimenez

MARFA — Juan Octavio "John" Jimenez, 74, of Marfa, trailer park owner, died Monday, July 3, 2000, in Presidio.

Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Rick Ruiz officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be at Marfa cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.

He was born in Ojinaga, Mexico, and was a longtime resident of Marfa. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Olivia Mediano of Marfa; son, John Jimenez Jr. of Alpine; sister, Maria Salinas of Marfa; and four grandchildren.

Gene McGee

PYOTE — Gene McGee, 72, of Pyote, a retired oilfield pumper, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Ward Memorial Hospital in Monahans.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pyote cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

He was born in Shamrock and had been a resident of Pyote since 1953. He was an Air Force veteran. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Louise McGee of Pyote; son, Billy Ray Sallings of Tyler; daughters, Melody Wilkenson of Wink, Kathy Dozier of Tyler and Beverly Ann Fenton of Longview; sister, Myrle Neuch of Panhandle; and two grandchildren.

Johnnie Sue Armstrong

MIDLAND — Johnnie Sue Armstrong, 70, of Odessa, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Fairview cemetery with the Rev. Raymon Swopes officiating. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.

She was born in Midland. She attended Midland Business College following her graduation from Midland High School.

SURVIVORS: Husband, James Armstrong of Odessa; sons, J.J. Armstrong of Odessa, Terry Wayne Armstrong and Wesley Shaw Armstrong, both of Midland, Ethan Clay Armstrong of Mesquite, Kenneth Kevin Armstrong of Odessa; daughter, Melissa Elaine Hale of Greenwood; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

John Atkins

PFLUGERVILLE — John D. Atkins, 72, of Pflugerville, a retired rancher, died Friday, July 7, 2000.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville with the Rev. Bob Lively officiating. Burial will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks cemetery in Pflugerville. Arrangements by Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was also retired from home repair. He was born in Cristoval.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Doris Atkins of Pflugerville; daughters, Linda Atkins and Carol Purser, both of Austin, Jennie Bright of Gardendale, Janet Moody of Odessa and Connie Andrews of El Dorado; sons, Randy Lentz of Grapevine and Gary Lentz of Big Lake; sisters, Mary Lee Hull, Nell Yaksh, Tinka Guida and Betty Graham; brothers, Lee Atkins and Clay Atkins; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Johnnie Fitzgerald Sr.

FORT DAVIS — Johnnie Stanford Fitzgerald Sr., 82, a self-employed rancher, cowboy and well-known horse trainer, died Thursday, July, 6, 2000, at his home.

Services were Saturday at first Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dale Parker officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.

He was born in Bandera. He lived in Fort Davis for 70 years. He was a member of the National Cutting Horse Association and American Quarter Horse Association. He was Presbyterian.

SURIVORS: Wife, Sondra de Zambrano of Fort Davis; daughter, Elizabeth Posey of Hobbs, N.M.; son, John Fitzgerald of Marfa; sisters, Lucille Steele of Blanco and Mildred Cox of Austin; brothers, Ray Fitzgerald of San Angelo and Jack Fitzgerald of Victoria; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Esequiel Garcia

ODESSA — Esequiel Garcia, 24, of Odessa, died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services are pending with Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.

Earline Graham Brewer

ODESSA — Earline Graham Brewer, 76, of Odessa died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, in Odessa.

She was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Louann, Ark., and came to Odessa in 1959. The former director of Planned Parenthood died peacefully at her home after a lengthy illness. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. She worked at Douglas Aircraft during World War II. She was one of the original Rosie the Riveters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Zettie Lewis.

Survivors include her son, Eddie Graham of Odessa; daughter, Earline Alexander of Odessa; sister, Elsie Williamson of Odessa; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests memorials to Star Hospice, 620 N. Grant Ave., Suite #100, Odessa, Texas, 79761.

Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
