Oneada Buchanan Mitchell
MIDLAND — Services for Oneada Buchanan Mitchell are scheduled at 4 p.m. Friday, June 4, 1999, at the Pipkin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Frazier of Valley View Baptist Church officiating.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Pipkin Funeral Home.
Oneada Buchanan Mitchell was born Jan. 26, 1917, in Denton County to James and Martha Robertson. She married
Raymond Buchanan in 1933 in Midland.
Mr. Buchanan passed away in 1952. She later married
Rad Mitchell in April 1960 in Odessa. He also preceded her in death in 1983.
Mrs. Mitchell was a beauty operator in her own shop for years. She retired in 1958.
She was a member of Cotton Flat Baptist Church, Women’s Missionary Union, Eastern Star and a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Odessa.
She is survived by one son, Jesse Buchanan of Midland; one daughter, Doris Swinney of Odessa; one brother, Billy Robertson of Midland; one sister, Ora Lankford of Midland; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Chris Buchanan, Michael Robertson, Curtis Robertson, LeGene Robertson, Mathew Beasley, and Charles Beasley will serve as pallbearers.
James Armstead
MONAHANS — James B. Armstead, 78, of Big Spring, a retired distribution technician for Texas Electric Service Co., died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center in Big Spring.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Harkey Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.
He was born in Elk City, Okla., and had been a resident of Monahans and Midland. He was Presbyterian.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Maxine "Mickey" Armstead of Big Spring; sons, James Mac Armstead and W. Kim Armstead, both of Big Spring; daughter, Randi Kay Tuman of Arlington; brother, Paul Armstead of Houston; sister, JoAnn Rusk Sloan of Los Gatos, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Marilyn Boerner
HOBBS, N.M. — Marilyn Kay Boerner, 44, of Hobbs, a former employee of Medical Center Hospital, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at Lea Regional Medical Center in Hobbs.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Taylor Street Church of Christ with Eli Borden officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Arrangements by Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
She was born in Hobbs and had been a resident of Odessa.

Elbert Brown
PLAINVIEW — Elbert Earl Brown, 79, of Plainview, retired operator of Claiborne’s Thriftway in Plainview, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson officiating. Burial will be at Plainview Memorial Park. Arrangements by Bartley-Silva Funeral Home.
He was born in Abernathy. He was a Marines veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

DALLAS — Ezra Cecil "Bud" Eddins, 48, of Plano died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at Bailey Hospital in Richardson.

SAGERTON — John L. Guinn, 68, of Sagerton, a retired development superintendent for Phillips Petroleum Co., died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, in Lubbock.

Margie Jane Thornton Wallis
ODESSA — Margie Jane Thornton Wallis of Gardendale went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 20, 2000. Margie was born on Oct. 29, 1933, in Pioneer, Texas, the third of four children. She married
Fred Wallis on Jan. 16, 1971, in Hobbs, N.M.
She and her husband toiled lovingly together to build their home in Gardendale. She enjoyed spending time with her family, the wild critters and pets that shared their home.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Jane Brannan; granddaughter, Tabitha Rives; and her parents, J.W. and Ellan Thornton.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Wallis, of Gardendale; son, Mike Brannan and wife Bonnie, of Odessa; daughter, Debbie Brannan, of Odessa; daughter, Valerie Lewis and husband Mike, of Wichita Falls; son, Darren Wallis, of Terlingua; daughter, Veronica Beach and husband Stasey, of Cuero; sister, Lola Ehrlich and husband Henry, of Granbury; brother, Jim Thornton and wife Susie, of Sherman; sister, Phyllis Stephens and husband A.O., of Hobbs; grandchildren, Josh Brannan, Rebecca Brannan, Kellan Brannan, Nick Rives, Blaine Rives, Cody Rives, Michael Lewis, Aubrie Beach, Seth Beach; and extended family of nieces and nephews.

Mattie Sue Walker
ODESSA — Sue Montgomery Walker passed away peacefully Oct. 17, 2000. Sue was born Oct. 18, 1909, in San Angelo. She was the second of four daughters born to Joe and Pearl Montgomery, a pioneer Pecos County ranching family. She spent her early years on the ranch. The family eventually moved to Fort Stockton in order for Sue and her sisters to attend the public schools.
She graduated from Fort Stockton High School and attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth before returning to Fort Stockton. On April 12, 1932, she married
Homer Walker of San Antonio in Fort Stockton. Homer worked in the Pecos County State Bank for several years before devoting full time to the ranching business, which is still in operation. Homer predeceased her Nov. 9, 1977.
Sue was involved in all aspects of life in Fort Stockton where she resided for nearly 90 years. She was active in the First Christian Church where she was a member for seventy years. She was a member of Magno Usui Study Club, Pioneer Club, Tuesday Club and many other organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Pearl Montgomery; her husband, Homer Walker; and her sisters, Louise Montgomery Fulk, Jo Ann Montgomery Moore and Peggy Montgomery Brooks.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Furman and husband Mike of Odessa; three grandchildren, Scott Furman and wife Kenda of Fort Stockton, Susan Furman of Denver and Stacy Zipkes and husband Steve of Marfa. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Lynzi and Madison Furman and Logan and Matthew Zipkes. Additional survivors include her sister-in-law, Marjorie Butz of Buchanan Dam; brother-in-law, Wayne Moore of Midland; four nieces; five nephews; and devoted friend Elida Rodriquez.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at First Christian Church in Fort Stockton. Interment will follow at Easthill cemetery. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
