Madge Bernice Shriver
BIG SANDY — Madge Bernice Schriver, formerly of Odessa, passed away Oct. 17, 2000, at the age of 77. She was born in Upshire County May 30, 1923, the daughter of Herman and Pearl Barber McCollum.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Schriver; her son, Joe Kimbrough; and daughters, Carolyn Folsom and Delores Wallace.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Casady and husband James of Alvin; sons, Jerry Lee Kimbrough of Cold Springs and Shelton Ervin Schriver and wife Linda of Pasadena; sister, Juanita Chrilchuck of Gilmer; brothers, Gene Austin McCollum of Big Sandy, Norman Lewis McCollum of Bastrop and Ronald McCollum of Longview; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home in Friendswood, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at Shady Grove cemetery in Big Sandy with the Rev. Darrell Streeter officiating. Burial will follow.

Daniel Zapata Sr.
ODESSA — Daniel Zapata Sr., 64, of Odessa, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born Feb. 7, 1936, in Mathis to Irene Ramirez and Ramon Zapata. He had been a resident of Loraine before moving to Odessa two-and-a-half years ago. He was a retired truck driver and a Catholic.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Friday at Martinez Funeral Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ramon Zapata; mother, Irene Ramirez; and sisters, Maria Lena, Maria De La Luz and Lina Mae Garcia.
He is survived by his wife, Ester Zapata of Odessa; sons, Edward Moreno of Barlett, Daniel Zapata Jr. of Plainview, Carl Zapata and Erasmo Zapata, both of Waterproof, La., Ricky Zapata, Eugene Zapata, Christopher Zapata and Mark Zapata, all of Odessa; daughters, Lina Hernandez of Fort Meade, Fla., Jenny Zapata of Wauchula, Fla., Elizabeth Ortiz of Waterproof and Norma Baca of Houston; brothers, Richard Zapata, Thomas Zapata and Trinida Zapata, all of George West, Ramon Zapata of Phoenix, Eugenio Zapata of Freer and David Zapata of Corpus Christi; sisters, Mae Guerrero of Fresno, Calif., Rebecca Gamboa, Natalia Solis, Rosa Zapata and Benny Castaneda, all of George West, and Geneva Arriaga of Bastrop; 36 grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Leo F. Blythe
ODESSA — Leo F. Blythe, 76, of Odessa died Oct. 5, 2000 in Tel Aviv, Israel. He was born Aug. 17, 1924, in Fisher County. He married
Elizabeth Wallis June 14, 1952, in Abilene and they moved to Odessa from Sweetwater in 1954.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and had been associated with French Tool and Supply and later with B-Line Filter Company at the time of his death.
He was a deacon and the Sunday school director at Crescent Park Baptist Church and a member of the Odessa Downtown Lions Club, where he was chaplain and a past district governor. He was also a Gideon.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Blythe; and his parents, James and Alma Blythe. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth of Odessa; brother, Boyd Blythe; sisters, Norene Chism, Jimmie Bennett and Peggy Hall.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at Crescent Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Johnny Dickerson officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. J.L. "Pat" Patton
ODESSA — J. L "Pat" Patton, 69, of Odessa passed away Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, in a local hospital. He was born March 1, 1931, in Paris.
Pat moved to Odessa in 1954 and was a retired oilfield consultant. He married
Eva Pickett on Oct. 12, 1978, in Midland.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Patton; three sons, James T. Patton and his wife, Jan, Timothy Lynn Patton and his wife, Brenda, and Tony Wayne Patton and his wife, Beverly, all of Odessa; three stepchildren, Jacky Pickett, Sandra Turner and Patsy Estes, all of Odessa; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cory Ross officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

George Thomas Masters Jr.
ODESSA — George Thomas Masters Jr., 36, of Odessa passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, in Goldsmith. He was born Sept. 21, 1964, in Carlsbad, N.M.
George had lived in Odessa for 10 years. He was a roughneck for Permian Power Tong.
Survivors are his wife, Katie Lynn Wilson Masters and daughter, Kelcee Lynn Masters of Odessa; sons, Cody Masters and Cory Masters, both of Odessa; mother, Yvonnie Ruth Workman of Odessa; father, George Masters Sr. and wife Lynn "Mom" of Carlsbad; grandmother, Agnes Nelson of Rockland; sisters, Tina Kinney of Midland and Christy Meeks of Magnolia; and brothers, Josh Masters and Justin Masters, both of Carlsbad, and Johnny Joe Crowley of Las Cruces, N.M.

Mildred L. Nolan
ODESSA — Mildred L. Nolan, 96, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Aug. 25, 1904, to Robert O. Stuard and Simmie McCown Stuard in Paris, Texas. She had lived in Odessa since 1927. She and her husband owned and operated the Jack Nolan Photography Studio and later Jack Nolan Real Estate.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Nolan and nephew, Jim Clark.
Survivors are her sisters, Veta Votaw and Cleta Wineberg, both of Odessa; nephews, Gordon Votaw of Odessa and Lowell Steffey of Odessa; niece, Sara Easley of Kermit; numerous great-nephews and nieces; great-great-nephews and nieces; and a great-great-great-niece.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Parkview Church of Christ with Charles Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Glen Maurice Shumate
RED SPRINGS — Glen Maurice Shumate, age 74, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at his residence in Odessa.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at the Red Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Bennett, pastor, and A.B. Martin officiating. Interment will be in the Henson cemetery in Red Springs under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Shumate was born Oct. 25, 1926, in Red Springs. He married
Ruth Wood on May 17, 1950, in Wichita Falls. He was a field operator for Phillips Petroleum Co. for 30 years. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Odessa; three daughters, Cindy Clark of Tahlequah, Okla., Gay Gann of Gardendale and Vicky Reel of Olive Branch, Miss.; two sisters, Senna Jane Winn of Red Springs and Lucille Coker of Fort Meyers, Fla.; two brothers, John Shumate and Joe Shumate, both of Graham; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
June Sayle Baker
LA PORTE — June Sayle Baker, 69, of Houston was born Oct. 19, 1931, in Chicago, Ill., and passed away Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, in Houston.
June was preceded in death by her father, Dr. William Frank Sayle; mother, Dorothy Sayle; uncle, Upton Giles; sister, Dr. Bettye Ann Sayle; and niece, Nancy Wells Goldberg.
June is survived by her husband of 45 years, William J. Baker; daughter, Debbie Baker; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia June Baker and William Nolen; grandchildren, Pvt. Jessica LeJeune Guthrie, Cynthia Megan Guthrie, Benjamin Joshua Rodriguez, Dustin Bradley Rodriguez and Nikki Michaela Nolen; sister and brother-in-law, Jane Sayle Wells and W.F. Wells; and niece, Judy Wells McCracken.
June graduated from Commerce High School in Commerce in 1948, attended East Texas State Teachers College in 1950, became a licensed vocational nurse and practiced real estate and various other professions. She married
William Jack Baker on June 18, 1955, in Dallas. June was extremely active in her church and stood steadfast in her Lord.
June’s wishes of cremation will be respected and there will be no viewing. A memorial service was conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 102 E. Avenue G at Broadway, in La Porte.
The family asks, in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church in La Porte.
