Lilly Yvonne ‘Bonnie’ Todd
ABILENE — Lilly Yvonne "Bonnie" Cooper Todd, age 65, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at Hendrick Medical Center.
Service will be held Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Pete Knight officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 1, 2001, at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Mrs. Todd was born May 11, 1935, in North Roby and graduated from Roby High School. She married
William Todd on Dec. 12, 1959, and they moved to Abilene in 1966. He preceded her in death Sept. 11, 1974. She was also preceded in death by her son, William David Todd on Dec. 12, 1962; as well as two brothers, Carl Cooper and Chester Cooper; a sister, Ruby Carpenter; and her parents, Ollie and Lottice Cooper.
Mrs. Todd retired from the Abilene Independent School District in May 1998 after 32 years of dedicated service. She was a very dedicated and active member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. She is and always will be dedicated to God, Christian service and family.
She is survived by three sons, Richard Blount and wife Elaine of Odessa, Darrell Blount of Las Vegas, Nev., daughter-in-law, Sheila Blount of Abilene and Danny Blount and wife Zan of Columbus, Ohio; and a daughter, Lisa McHan and her husband Bryan of Abilene. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Carrie Collier and husband Steven Bean of Austin, Lucus Collier and wife Ladina of Odessa, Ricky Blount and wife Shanda of Decatur, Shawna Blount and Alyssa Blount of Austin, Emily McHan Tate and husband Kevin of Albany and Melissa McHan and Bryana McHan of Abilene; three great-grandchildren, Corley and Chase Blount of Decatur and Kailey Tate of Albany; three brothers, Earl Cooper and wife Edna of Stamford, Gene Cooper and wife Rebecca of Crystal City, Mo., and Earnest Cooper and wife Sylvia of Fairfield, Calif.; three siters, Linnie Eitel and huband Sam of El Paso, Evelyn Nolen of Monument, N.M., and Frances Sawyer of Andrews; a sister-in-law, Donna Cooper of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dwight Wayne Love
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Dwight Wayne Love, head of the math department at Greater Atlanta Christian School, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at his residence, following a lengthy struggle with cancer. He was 59 years old.
Dr. Love was born March 30, 1941, in McKinney, Texas. He married
Donna Sherrill on April 4, 1969. He completed his undergraduate work at Abilene Christian University in 1963. His graduate work at Rice University led to a master of arts degree in 1966, and work at the University of Georgia resulted in a Ph.D. in 1974.
Dr. Love was on the faculty of Greater Atlanta Christian School for the past 27 years, serving in the position of math department head.
The GACS math department is known as one of the top programs throughout the Southeast and the nation as a result of Love’s work. In 1980, he initiated the Advanced Placement (AP) Program in math, and as a result, his students achieved top SAT scores and have been accepted to the finest colleges and universities in the United States. In addition to his mastery of teaching, Love led the GACS varsity math team to seven state championships (all school classifications) since 1990, as well as two second-place and one third-place win. Through his efforts, since 1987 GACS has hosted the largest varsity math tournament in the Southeast. In 2000, the tournament was renamed in his honor, the GACS-Dwight Love Math Tournament. Love held leadership positions in the Governor’s Honors Program, the Georgia Mathematics Conference, the American Regions Math League and has coached the Georgia math team in national competitions.
Dr. Love leaves his wife, Donna Sherrill Love of Lilburn, Ga., a freshman English teacher at Greater Atlanta Christian School, along with three daughters, Beverly S. Love of Lilburn, Laura Lynn Love of Nashville, Tenn., and Carol Anne Love of Lilburn. All three daughters graduated from Greater Atlanta Christian School. He is also survived by his mother, Anna Myrl Bell Love of Odessa and sister, Martha Love Hopper of Danbury, Conn.
The Loves have been members of the Campus Church of Christ for the past 26 years, where Dr. Love has assisted as song leader and served as deacon.
A memorial service will be held at 4 in the afternoon today, Feb. 1, 2001, at Campus Church of Christ located at 1525 Indian Trail Road, Norcross.
In lieu of flowers, Dr. Love and family request that any memorial be given to Greater Atlanta Christian School for the Dwight Love Academic Endowment to support scholarships for deserving students and the GACS math team.

Ellen Marie Donahue
ODESSA — Ellen Marie Donahue, 94, of Odessa passed away from this life Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Hospice House.
She was born Sept. 4, 1906, in Plattsburgh, Mo., to Edward and Margie Priegel. After graduation from college, she taught business courses in Wichita Falls and Hobart, Okla., high schools.
She married
Alvin Donahue on Nov. 25, 1927, in Okmulgee, Okla., and moved to Odessa in 1936. She and her husband owned and operated Donahue Investment Co. until his death in 1965.
Marie was a member of First Baptist Church, serving as church pianist in her earlier years. She also served as superintendent of the youth department for 37 years and outreach director of the adult department. She was active in Women Missionary Union as well as serving on many church committees.
She was an officer in the Contemporary Garden Club where she took many blue ribbons for horticulture and flower arranging. She was active in the Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary and the American Association of Retired Persons.
She and her husband provided scholarships for several girls to Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mildred and Lloyd Mitchell of Odessa; granddaughter, and her husband, Sharon and Allen Ritchie of Belton; and two great-grandchildren, Alyse and Andrew.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ernest Easley and the Rev. Bill Cathy officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Lake Lafurne ‘Furne’ Harris
ODESSA — Furne Harris, 70, of Odessa passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at her home.
She was born May 4, 1932, in Spur and moved to Odessa in 1982. Furne was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bovina. She was the previous owner of Barbara’s Fashions. She was happily married
to J.W. Harris on Jan. 27, 1950, in Clovis, N.M.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Lake Hutto; son, Kyle Ray Harris; and seven brothers, Lenis R. Hutto, Delmer Hutto, Hansford Hutto, Preston Hutto, Doyce Hutto, Bill Hutto and Eddie Ray Hutto.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, J.W. Harris of Odessa; sons, Dana Jay Harris and wife Connie of Monahans and Wesley Allen Harris and wife Cathy of El Reno, Okla.; brother, Spurgeon Hutto of Dimmitt; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Misty, Daniel, B.J., Trisha and Robbie, Kalie, Chad and Tanner; and a great-granddaughter, Kyla Harris. She is also survived by nine sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 25, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Dick Dickins officiating. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at the First Baptist Church in Bovina with the Rev. Gary Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Bovina cemetery.
Furne had a deep love for her family and friends and will be missed by all.

Billy J. Skinner
MIDLAND — Billy J. Skinner was born Aug. 24, 1933, in Cooper to Samuel E. and Ida Mae (Shaffer) Skinner. He was reared and educated in Cooper, graduating from high school there. Mr. Skinner served in the Army from 1953 to 1956, participating in the Korean Conflict. On March 25, 1956, he married
Bonnie Long in Goldsmith. He was employed with Sinclair Oil and Gas in Andrews, which later became Atlantic Richfield Oil and Gas. In 1976, he became an oil and gas consultant in the West Texas area, retiring in 1998. He had lived in Midland since 1984.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Skinner died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at a local hospital.
His parents, six brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie K. Skinner of Midland; his son, Billy J. Skinner Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, of San Angelo; his daughters, Suzi Pillans and her husband, Reggie, of Cisco, and Barbara Garlington of Midland; his sister, Linda Thomas of Discovery Bay, Byron, Calif.; his brother, Larry Skinner of Cooper; and his grandchildren, Sharla and Danielle Garlington of Midland and Colby and Jobe Skinner of San Angelo.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 25, 2001. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at First United Methodist Church in Midland with the Rev. C. Lane Boyd officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. at Lawnhaven cemetery in San Angelo under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

Marcus Lee ‘Pete’ Smith
ODESSA — Marcus Lee "Pete" Smith, 69, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away suddenly Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, in Odessa.
He was born Feb. 16, 1931, in Farmersville. Pete worked for Carr Well Services for 28 years and retired from Charles J. George Well Service in 1998. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Pete married
Jo Davis on April 15, 1953.
Survivors are his wife, Jo Smith of Odessa; daughter, Linda Smith of Midland; son, Jim Smith of Bedford; two grandchildren, Al Chitwood Jr. and Katheryn Chitwood, both of Midland.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Thomason officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Donna Snyder
ODESSA — Donna McKinney Noble Snyder, 50, of Odessa, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, at her home. Donna was born in Slaton on Oct. 26, 1949.
She graduated from Denver City High School in 1968 and West Texas State University in 1972 with a bachelor of science degree. She also attended Texas Tech University and University of Texas of The Permian Basin. Donna married
Richard James Snyder Jr. in Lubbock in 1977. She taught with wonderful teachers and students at Odessa College for two years and then at Permian High School for ten years. She helped implement the first microcomputer programs at both OC and Permian. She spent three years working with teachers through Ector County Independent School District, implementing computers in their classroom. Mrs. Snyder worked for EClSD for a total of 12 years. Mrs. Snyder participated in publishing the first microcomputer textbook in the United States through West Publishing. Donna always said that her students were "her best teachers and taught her all she needed to know." Mrs. Snyder was a Baptist.
Mrs. Snyder was preceded in death by her parents, Morgan and Frances Noble of Denver City.
She is survived by her husband Richard James Snyder Jr. and their wonderful children Richard Alexander, Jennifer Lee and Sara Charlsa of Odessa; her three brothers, Mike Noble and his wife, Carletta, who was closer than a sister, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Terry Noble and his wife, Paula, of Plano; Alton McKinney and his wife, Joy, of Midland; and a sister, Laura Lee Noble Barnard and her husband, Richard, of Plano.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Cheryl Homsher and Steve Vore officiating.
