Ella Sadie Carroll
EL PASO — Ella Sadie Carroll was born Sept. 25, 1918, in El Paso, Texas, to Harry and Lauretta Murphy and died Oct. 15, 2000, in El Paso. She has won her ten-year battle against cancer and is now "home" with Her Lord. Sadie married
Darwin R. Carroll Aug. 21, 1937, in El Paso. To their union three children were born: Don Roger, who preceded her in death March 9, 1998, John Woodrome and Kathy Kay. Sadie attended Austin High School. In the early years of marriage, she worked at the downtown Popular Store.
Sadie was a faithful member of the Montana Street Church of Christ. For many years, she taught children’s Bible classes and had been an elder’s wife. Sadie had a very giving spirit, one that was seen in the many times she took food to those who were sick or bereaved, or when she gave rides to those older people who could not get around town alone.
Sadie’s husband, three children, three grandchildren and one daughter-in-law held priority in her life, only after Her Lord. She supported them in everything they did. When her children were in school, she was a member of PTA and band boosters, attending everything in which they were involved. She taught them to love the Lord by word and example. As one friend has so aptly described her, "A courageous and gracious lady."
Sadie leaves family to continue her ministry to God and others: Her loving husband of 63 years, Darwin R. Carroll of El Paso; son, John W. Carroll of Odessa; daughter, Dr. Kathy K. Carroll of Parkersburg, W.Va.; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Carroll of Odessa; grandson, Don R. Carroll Jr. of Irving; grandson and wife, Chris and Tina Carroll of Odessa; and grandson, Marcus Carroll of Memphis, Tenn.

Carroll Jr. and Dan Gibson will conduct the services at the Kaster-Maxon and Futrell Funeral Home, 8817 Dyer, in El Paso, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, with burial following at Restlawn cemetery directed by Kaster-Maxon and Futrell Funeral Home.
