Leonor Pridgen
SANDERSON — Leonor M. Pridgen, 72, of Odessa passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2000, at her residence.
Mrs. Pridgen was born Jan. 10, 1928, in Sanderson and lived there until moving to Odessa in 1987. She married
Elisandro Pridgen on May 6, 1955, in Del Rio. She had been a member of St. James Catholic Church in Sanderson and a member of Guadalupanas Catholic Club from 1955 to 1987.
She is survived by her husband, Elisandro D. Pridgen of Odessa; two sons, Sergio M. Pridgen and Elisandro M. Pridgen Jr. and his wife, Rosalinda, all of Odessa; two grandchildren, Elisandro Pridgen III and Sebastian Pridgen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Pridgen will lie in state today at St. James Catholic Church in Sanderson.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at St. James Catholic Church in Sanderson with interment to follow at Santa Rita cemetery under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Bill Walker
ODESSA — Bill L. Walker, 75, of Odessa passed away Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at a Midland hospital.
Mr. Walker was born Nov. 21, 1925, in Brady. He grew up in Eden and graduated from Eden High School. He married
Mary Hope Earnshaw Aug. 14, 1949, in Odessa. She preceded him in death in 1993.
Mr. Walker was the owner of Inspection Services, Inc., for over 30 years and was a member of St. Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a charter member of the Sandhills Ramblers RV Club and loved to travel. He has gone to his final rally.
He is survived by a son, Mike Walker and his wife, Christi, of Camden, Tenn.; a daughter, Jana Walker of Odessa; a brother, James R. Walker of Oklahoma City; and two granddaughters, Annie Hope Walker and Whitney Love Walker.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today, Dec. 27, 2000, at St. Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Mike Walker and Craig Martindale officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.

Lois Patterson Cross
TROUP — Lois Patterson Cross of Odessa was born in Salem Community, Smith County, Texas, to Carroll and Julia Patterson. She was raised in Smith and Hale Counties in Texas. She died on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000 at Medical Center Hospital.
On May 12, 1943, she married
Robert Cross in Troup. They were married
for 57 years. Their son, Don, was born Dec. 5, 1945, in Troup. They moved to the Permian Basin in 1955.
She was a Baptist by faith. Lois was an accomplished artist and her hobbies were painting, golf and crafts.
Mrs. Cross is survived by her husband, R.E. "Bob" Cross of Odessa; one son, Donald E. Cross and his wife, Elizabeth, of Lafayette, La.; two granddaughters, Ashley Blanc and husband, Ken, of Lafayette, La., and Melissa Cross of Lafayette, La.; one brother, George Patterson and wife, Carole, of Dallas; three sisters, Allene Williams of Plainview, Eulalia Lacy and husband, Bryan, of Pasadena, Marian Powell of Lubbock.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lou Ella Mahurin and Leotis McDaniel; and four brothers, James, Robert, Henry and Ryan Patterson.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at the Bradford cemetery in Troup with the Rev. James Cheatham of the First Baptist Church of Troup officiating. Arrangements are by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors . If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
Joshua Paul Parkinson
ODESSA — Joshua Paul "Josh" Parkinson was born Oct. 7, 1980, in Odessa and died Nov. 23, 2000. He was the beloved son of Kathleen Mooney Foster and Jack David Parkinson.
Josh was a 1999 graduate of Permian High School. All his life he loved sports and during his school years he played football, baseball and basketball. He was in the gifted and talented classes throughout junior and senior high school. Josh attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
Josh will always be remembered for his wonderful smile and his loving heart. He was dearly loved by his family and many friends. Josh had a very special gift working with children. They were very drawn to him as he devoted many summers lifeguarding and teaching them to swim. Josh loved to spend time with his many friends, and he truly knew how to be a friend.
He is survived by his mother, Kathy Foster and stepfather, Dr. Niles Foster of Gardendale; father, Jack Parkinson of Leander; brother, Matt Parkinson and sister, Elizabeth Bailey, all of Gardendale; maternal grandparents, Frank and Mary "Mimi" Mooney of Odessa; paternal grandmother, Ann Baucum of Mesa, Ariz.; paternal great-grandmother, Mae Baucum of Lubbock; aunts and uncles, Frank and Sandy Mooney of Friendswood, Bobby and Karen (Mooney) Nimon of Houston, Jim and Monica Mooney of Odessa, Joan Firth of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jean Parkinson of Florence, Ariz., and Janan Parkinson of Glendale, Ariz.; and cousins, Miriam Mooney, Taryn Mooney, Ashley Ellis, Emily and Martha Nimon, Jacob Parkinson, Jasmine Parkinson, Christopher Eric Firth, Nick Firth, Ryan Thompson, Adam Thompson, Elizabeth Parkinson, Sam Parkinson and Travis Parkinson.
Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Woodruff, celebrant.
Pallbearers will be Blake Doran, Alek Skillern, Cortney Smith, Rick Dansby, Joshua Clark and Travis Watkins. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
If desired memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Central Catholic School.

Tommy Tucker
ODESSA — Services for Tommy Tucker, 72, of Odessa are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at First Christian Church with Dr. David Mindel officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Tucker died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. He was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Odessa. He married
LaRue Hall on July 30, 1950, in Odessa.
Mr. Tucker was a lifetime resident of Odessa. He attended Baylor University and later graduated from Sul Ross State University. He was a retired partner of Waddell and Blank Insurance Co. He was past president of Odessa Insurance Agents Association and past president of the Kiwannis Breakfast Club. He was a member and served on the board of directors of Texas Independent Insurance Association.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Nash A. Tucker Jr., and sister, Virginia R. Hendrick.
Survivors include his wife, LaRue Tucker of Odessa; daughter, Terri Ann Conner and husband Jerry of Odessa; two grandchildren, Chantel and Shallen Conner; and a great-granddaughter, Abbey LaRue Conner.

Johnny M. Smith
ODESSA — Johnny M. Smith, 73, of Odessa died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, in Odessa.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Sunset Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He was born Feb. 14, 1927, in Belton. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was owner and operator of Cottage of Flowers since 1973. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda R. Smith of Odessa; son, Johnny M. Smith Jr. and wife Debra Ann of Odessa; son, Travis A. Smith and wife Alexa Dawn of Mobile, Ala.; daughter, Mikki J. Smith of Odessa; daughter, Karlus Smith of Muskogee, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Helen Hilburn Verhasselt
ODESSA — Helen Hilburn Verhasselt, 70, of Odessa, died of cancer on Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. today at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Father Mark Woodruff, celebrant. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Kevin Riggs will sing special selections for the Mass.
Ms. Verhasselt was born Feb. 9, 1930, in Lafayette, La., to Alice Benoit and Herman Verhasselt. Ms. Verhasselt graduated from Lafayette High School in 1947. Ms. Verhasselt moved to Odessa in 1961 and worked for G.M.A.C. for 21 years in Lafayette and Odessa. She served as chairman of the board for H&S Valve Incorporated since 1978. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Beth Hilburn Littlejohn and her husband, Les, of Odessa and Carol Hilburn Richter and her husband, Bobby, of Corpus Christi; and grandsons, Bryan and Matt Richter, both of Corpus Christi. She also is survived by two sisters, Mary Creekie Burke and her husband, Waren, of New Orleans and Maxine "Mackie" Roy and her husband, Donald Sr., of Lafayette; three nieces and three nephews.
"Miss Helen," as she was affectionately known, worked with her good friends, Lynn and Randy Correa at the Yard Dog Garden Center. She enjoyed nurturing the plants and trees. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
