Clara Saucedo Bayless
ODESSA — Clara Saucedo Bayless, 76, of Odessa passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at a local nursing home. Mrs. Bayless was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Lockhart. She had been a resident of San Angelo and of Odessa for many years and worked as a beautician. She was a member of the Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Consuello Saucedo, and her brothers, Antonio and Manuel Saucedo.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Bayless of Midland and Chris Bayless of Odessa; a daughter, Brenda Bayless Stewart of San Angelo; a sister, Gloria Saucedo Campos of Visalia, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Revs. Francis Frey and Matthew Chackalackal officiating.

Bessie Kathrine Yancy
ODESSA — Bessie Kathrine Yancy, 66, of Odessa, beloved mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at her home. She was born Dec. 4, 1933, in Del Rio and was a longtime resident of Odessa. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Lane of Odessa; a son, Steve Reed of Arlington; a granddaughter, Chance Passmore of Odessa; a grandson, Steve Lane of Odessa; and a great-grandson, Dustin Passmore of Odessa.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Latter Rain Worship Center located at 305 E. 19th St. in Odessa with Rev. Craig DeArmond officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are with Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Jose "Joe" M. Alvarado
SAN ANTONIO — Jose "Joe" M. Alvarado, born Aug. 22, 1911, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at the age of 89 in San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cordelia Huitt Alvarado and his parents, Diego G. Alvarado and Guadalupe Salazar Alvarado.
Joe grew up in Odessa during the depression years. Consequently, he attended school only through the sixth grade.
He joined the CCC and later enlisted in the military and served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II in the Pacific Theatre and was a member of the 528th Bomb Squardon. Joe and his brother, Gregorio Alvarado, also a WWII veteran, upon their return to civilian life, became owners of one of the first Mexican food restaurants in Odessa. A few years later, after Gregorio died, Joe and Cordelia retired and moved to Altus, Okla. Following her death in 1988, Joe moved to San Antonio to be near his sisters.
Joe is survived by his sisters, Mrs. Antonia A. Roberts of Odessa, Maria D. and Nicolasa Alvarado of San Antonio. His other survivors are his nephews, Christino Alvarado of Dallas, Jesse Alvarado and his wife, Naomi, Lewis Fernandez of Odessa, Felix Fernandez and his wife, Betty, of Odessa; his niece, Lilia F. Howard and her husband, Cliff, of Big Spring, Olivia Fernandez of Big Spring, Elia Warren of San Antonio, Olivia Alvarado de Torres and her husband, Francisco Torres of Mexico City, Linda Eagleton and her husband, Phil of Dallas, Guadalupe Alvarado of Midland. Joe is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
Funeral services and interment will be in Altus, Okla.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 28, 2000, in the Sanctuary of the Lowell Tims Funeral Home in Altus, Oklahoma. Burial services will follow. Local arrangements with Porter Loring Mortuary.
Nena Beth Brock
ODESSA — Memorial services for Nena Beth Brock, 74, of Odessa are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Nov. 25, 2000, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with Charles Jones officiating.
Mrs. Brock died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born April 12, 1926, in Marquez. She married
Willard Brock in 1982 in Las Vegas, Nev. Mrs. Brock was a homemaker and a member of Parkview Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Brock; brother, J.L. Lindsay; and sisters, Beatrice Dean, Myrna Brock, Novice Vann and Annie Mae Robinson.
Survivors include her sons, Warren Douglas Carruth of Alamosa, Colo., Billy Ray Carruth of Walsenberg, Colo., and Floyd Carruth of Alamosa, Colo.; daughters, Beverly Henderson of San Angelo and Dyanne Reagan of Redmond, Wash.; and 10 grandchildren.

Joshua Paul Parkinson
ODESSA — Joshua Paul "Josh" Parkinson was born Oct. 7, 1980, in Odessa and died Nov. 23, 2000. He was the beloved son of Kathleen Mooney Foster and Jack David Parkinson.
Josh was a 1999 graduate of Permian High School. All his life he loved sports and during his school years he played football, baseball and basketball. He was in the gifted and talented classes throughout junior and senior high school. Josh attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Josh will always be remembered for his wonderful smile and his loving heart. He was dearly loved by his family and many friends. Josh had a very special gift working with children. They were very drawn to him as he devoted many summers life-guarding and teaching them to swim. Josh loved to spend time with his many friends, and he truly knew how to be a friend.
He is survived by his mother, Kathy Foster and stepfather, Niles Foster of Gardendale; father, Jack Parkinson of Leander; brother, Matt Parkinson and sister, Elizabeth Bailey, all of Gardendale; maternal grandparents, Frank and Mary "Mimi" Mooney of Odessa; paternal grandmother, Ann Baucum of Mesa, Ariz.; paternal great-grandmother, Mae Baucum of Lubbock; aunts and uncles, Frank and Sandy Mooney of Friendswood, Bobby and Karen (Mooney) Nimon of Houston, Jim and Monica Mooney of Odessa, Joan Firth of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jean Parkinson of Florence, Ariz., and Janan Parkinson of Glendale, Ariz.; and cousins, Miriam Mooney, Taryn Mooney, Ashley Ellis, Emily and Martha Nimon, Jacob Parkinson, Jasmine Parkinson, Christopher Eric Firth, Nick Firth, Ryan Thompson, Adam Thompson, Elizabeth Parkinson, Sam Parkinson and Travis Parkinson.
Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Woodruff, celebrant. Pallbearers will be Blake Doran, Alec Skillern, Courtney Smith, Rick Dansby, Joshua Clark and Travis Watkins. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Roland G. Bell Sr.
ODESSA — Roland G. Bell Sr., 67, of Odessa passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at his residence after a short illness. He was a retired self-employed restaurateur, a member of the American Legion and served in the Air Force.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 19, 2000, at the Frank W. Wilson Chapel with the Rev. Raymond Bugg officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Leamon and Edna Bell; brothers, Raymond Bell Jr., Bill Bell, James Bell, Lloyd Bell and Scotty Bell; and sisters, Lavern Jones and Leona Currie.
Survivors include his wife, Otila of Odessa; grandson, Scott Bell of Odessa; sons, Roland Bell Jr. and his wife Kathy and their children Deidre, Kymberli and Garrett, all of Norco, Calif., Roger Bell and his wife Alesia and their children Kenneth and Anthony, all of Albuquerque, N.M., and Robert Bell and his wife Delia and their children Chelsea and Courtney, all of Rio Rancho, N.M.; sisters, Bobbie Goetz of Ballinger and Patsy Neely of Fresno, Calif.; brother, Jerry Bell of Monte Vista, Colo.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Roland was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His favorite time was being with his family, especially his grandchildren, and fishing in Albuquerque.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roland Bell Jr., Roger Bell, Robert Bell, Alvaro Gonzalez Jr., Al Gonzalez III and Jimmy Jones.

Precious McMarion
ODESSA — Precious McMarion Jr., 75, passed away Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at his residence in Odessa. He was born July 4, 1925, to Precious and Rosie McMarion in Bastrop. His parents, two sons, a brother and a sister preceded him in death.
Precious came to Odessa from Bastrop in the early 1950s and married
Shirley Darlene Logsdon in January 1985. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and enjoyed working in his yard and on his vehicles. He was a very sociable man and loved children and being around people.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 19, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Owen Sharp of Community Care Hospice officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of Odessa, four sons, two stepsons, three daughters, three stepdaughters, four sisters, many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, many, many great-great-grandchildren, and many, many friends.

Gerald Earl Laughery
ODESSA — Memorial services for Gerald Earl "Jerry" Laughery, 63, of Odessa are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Dec. 19, 2000, at Sherwood Church of Christ with Lynn Money officiating.
Mr. Laughery died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock. He was born Oct. 16, 1937, in Canyon. He married
Ruth Darby April 15, 1960, in Borger.
Mr. Laughery came to Odessa in 1970 from Borger. He had attended Frank Phillips College in Borger and was a graduate of Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock. He was currently enrolled in computer classes at International Business College in Midland and recently received an A+ certification. He had served as a Bible class teacher for 30 years and also served as a deacon and elder. He was currently a member of Sherwood Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvert and Florence Cranfill Laughery.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Laughery of Odessa; son, Keith Laughery of Lubbock; daughters, Melanie Lindsey of Midland, Michelle Page of Rock Springs, Wyo., and Melissa Bramley of Midland; brothers, Carl Laughery of Borger, Don Laughery, Ernie Key and Chuck Key, all of Fritch; and 13 grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Sherwood Church of Christ Mission Fund.

Ahniwake S. Sivalls
ODESSA — Ahniwake Strong Sivalls, 95, left this world to join her Heavenly Father Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, in Odessa.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Dec. 19, 2000, at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Steve Trout and Bill Heggemeier officiating.
She was born March 28, 1905, in Indian Territory on her parents’ farm near Nowata, Okla. Her parents were John and Augusta Strong. She married
Charles Tracy Sivalls Nov. 19, 1927, in Bartlesville, Okla., at his father’s home. He preceded her in death March 31, 1981.
Ahniwake loved to tell people about her Cherokee heritage. She was one thirty-second Cherokee. She had a great love of Oklahoma heritage, especially the Indian culture. She served as a docent when the Oklahoma Cowboy Hall of Fame opened. She also spent many hours volunteering at the American Red Cross and Oklahoma Archives. She loved her church, St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, and was one of the first women to serve on its administrative board.
In the past 10 years, Ahniwake had resided in Odessa to be near her son, his wife and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shortly after moving here, she was elected President of the Fidelis Sunday School class at First United Methodist Church and served for two years.
She was a faithful member of the P.E.O. Chapter BT for the past 10 years. She was also a member of the Nathaniel Davis Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, American Association of Retired Persons, the Republican Party of Texas, the Oklahoma Heritage Association and the National Cowboy Hall of Fame.
Survivors include her son, Charles Richard and wife Lura; two grandchildren, Stephanie Sivalls Latimer and husband John and Tracy L. Sivalls and wife Kelley; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary C. and R. Max Sivalls and Reagan Ahniwake Latimer. Her surviving sister is Yvonne McElroy of Olympia, Wash., and many nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church choir fund or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements for the memorial servcie are by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at the Rose Hill cemetery in Oklahoma City.
