Pat Rutherford
ODESSA — Pat Rutherford, 70, passed away Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at Hospice House in Odessa. She was born May 28, 1930, to Hugh and Pauline Walner in Wynnewood, Okla.
Pat moved to Odessa in 1947 from Wynnewood. She married
Bob Rutherford Feb. 27, 1956, in Ruidoso, N.M. She loved Mojo football and was an avid golfer. She was a two-time state ladies bowling champion, loved fishing, playing cards and, being a big animal lover, enjoyed her dog, Mo.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Feb. 20, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Bill Heggemeier of First
United Methodist Church will officiate.
Her parents and two brothers, Paul Leon and R.H. Walner, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Rutherford of Odessa; a daughter, Rebecca Rutherford of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Laverna Chantry of Arlington; and several nieces and nephews.

Jorge A. Sanchez
EL PASO — Jorge A. Sanchez, 58, of Odessa died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 29, 1942, in Mexico City. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Rosary was said at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at Sunset Funeral Home in El Paso. Mass was celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Iglesia Catolica de San Antonio. Burial followed at Fort Bliss National cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Herminia; daughter, Marisela; sons and daughters-in-law, Jorge and Veronica, Rene and Linda, Javier and Eduardo; granddaughter, Mia Clarisse; grandsons, Samuel, Daniel, Ivan, Alex and Adam; and mother, Magdalena Abascal.
Brian Murray Welch
FORT WORTH — Brian Murray Welch, 31, of Midland died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Big Spring.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at the Shannon North Funeral Chapel. Interment followed at Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
Brian graduated from Permian High School with honors. He later graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He enjoyed golf and building model airplanes. He was an avid collector of baseball cards and enjoyed watching college football and basketball. He also enjoyed analyzing political viewpoints.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Ruth Murray and Willie Mae Welch, and an uncle, Robert Murray.
Survivors include his parents, Raymond Harvey and Sharon Welch of Fort Worth; his brother, Tre’ Welch of Dallas; his sister, Alicia Chien and husband Peter of Connecticut; grandparents, Maurice and wife Joyce of Willow Park; and three uncles, Mark Murray of Houston, Jimmy Welch of Hobbs, N.M., and Jerry Murray and wife Penny of California.

Sidney J. Holden
ODESSA — Sidney J. Holden passed away Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital at the age of 80. He was born Oct. 10, 1920, in Dublin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don Walter and Olivia Bell Holden; his brothers, George Holden, Paul Holden and Woodie Holden; his son, Andrew "Charley" Wharton; and great-grandson, Nathan Hermon.
He is survived by his daughter, Erion Gaston and her husband E.P. of Odessa; five grandchildren, Debbie McCollum and Paula Hamilton of Odessa, Greg Gaston and wife Sherry and Dennis Gaston and wife Dala of Granbury and David Gaston of Plano; 12 great-grandchildren, Shauna, Lori and Kayde McCollum of Odessa, Michael Hermon of Houston, Holly, Christopher and Matthew Gaston and their mother Kimberly Gaston of Lewisville, Kyla Gaston of Granbury and Scota Gaston and Brian Crocker of Granbury; and two great-great-grandchildren, Dallas Gaston and Nathan Gaston of Granbury; his sister, Louise Holden Newhouse of Honeygrove; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sidney Holden served his country from 1942 until 1946 as a sergeant. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor of arts and master’s degree. He first taught in Kermit, then moved to Odessa in 1957 as an art teacher for Odessa High School and later became one of the counselors. He joined Odessa College, where he served over 16 years as a dean of records and registration when he retired Aug. 31, 1981. Upon retirement, he moved to Palestine and became active in numerous organizations. He was a member of Grace Methodist Church in Palestine.
During his lifetime, his hobbies included drama, art, horticulture, a cappella choirs, men’s quartet and pedigree dogs.
Sid Holden returned to Odessa in 1996 to live closer to his daughter. He resided at Lincoln Tower and later at Sherwood Place Assisted Living.
He will be remembered by his family, friends and many ex students.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with Pastor Doug Herget of Odessa Tabernacle officiating.

Jammie Armstrong Price
ODESSA — Jammie Armstrong Price, 87, of Odessa passed away Friday, Feb. 17, 2001.
Mrs. Price was born Dec. 13, 1913, in Desdemona. She married
the Rev. Luther L. Armstrong Sr. in 1928 and he preceded her in death in 1974. She later married
Jessie Price in 1977 in Oklahoma. He preceded her in death July 28, 2000. She had lived in Eastland for over 23 years and had recently returned to Odessa. She was a longtime member of the Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, two sons and 10 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean Parsons of Odessa; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Terry Pugh officiating.

Robert Lee Sweat
ODESSA — Robert Lee Sweat, 63, passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at the Hospice House in Odessa. He was born Oct. 7, 1937, to Robert and O.K. Sweat in Corpus Christi. His father precedes him in death.
Robert moved to Odessa in 1942 from Goldthwaite and graduated from Odessa High School in 1956. He served in the Army in the Korean Conflict and was a member of the National Guard. On Aug. 13, 1965, he married
Naomi Koen.
Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors and loved spending time with his grandkids. He helped with Odessa High School’s reunions, made Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow and served as Scout Master for 20 years. He was also Associate Scout Leader for Girl Scout Troop 62 for 12 years. He worked for Bob’s Garage for 17 years and was president several times of the local Garage Association. He also owned Sweat’s Garage on North County Road West for 22 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Selden Jones officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi Koen Sweat of Odessa; son, David Gawf and wife, Lisa, of Oklahoma; daughters, Judy Lenard of Oklahoma and Sarah Seal of Odessa; mother and stepdad, O.K. and W.J. Douglas of Odessa; brother, Richard Sweat of Lubbock; grandchildren, Matt and Alesha Lenard and Jessica and Amber Gawf, all of Oklahoma, Blake Seal of Sherman and Wyatt Seal of Odessa; and several nieces and nephews who were loved and appreciated.

Paul Young
ODESSA — Paul Young, 43, of Odessa passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at his residence.
Mr. Young was born Aug. 6, 1957, in McCamey. He had lived in Odessa since 1991 and worked as a substance abuse counselor in the Odessa area. He married
Pam Nuckols on Sept. 1, 1995, in Odessa.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Young of Odessa; a son, Randy Nuckols and his wife Angie of Midland; his parents, Lewis and Louise Young of Midland; his sister, Sharon Doughtery and her husband Rick of Carrollton; two brothers, Lynn Young and his wife Theresa of Midland and Kenneth Young and his wife Goldie of Palestine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Public visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family to receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Kincaid officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Earl Kenneth Moore Jr.
DUNCAN, Okla. — "In My Father’s house there are many dwelling places." John 14:2.
Earl Kenneth Moore Jr., 76, of San Antonio left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001. He died in San Antonio.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Duncan cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He was born Oct. 20, 1924, in Dallas to Earl K. Sr. and Birdie Norris Moore. He graduated from Duncan High School and received a petroleum engineer degree from Mid-Western University and his doctorate of divinity, international director of full gospel. His professional life prospered in independently owned Moore Production and Equipment, word ministry and as chief executive officer of Lily International. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend in Christ. His family will miss his physical presence, but rejoice in his memories and spiritual guidance.
He celebrated 53 years of marriage to Lily Mae Cole on May 24, 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Lily, of the home; son, Micheal E. Moore of San Antonio; daughters, Ellen Sutton and husband Gary of San Antonio and Beverly Ann Moore and husband Brian Coats of Dallas; brothers, Leroy Moore of Duncan, Okla., and Bill Moore of Bartlesville, Okla.; sister, Martha Willaford of Viadilia, Calif.; granddaughters, Tiffany Barby, Erica Sutton and Michelle Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ronnie G. Havens
ODESSA — Ronnie G. Havens was welcomed home by his Father in Heaven on Friday, Feb. 16, 2001.
He was born to Lloyd and Beulah Havens on July 1, 1937, in Pampa. Ronnie and his family moved to Wichita Falls when he was a child, where he grew up and attended Midwestern State University. He moved back to Pampa in 1960 and then moved to Odessa in 1970. He had been a salesman for American Auto Parts for 19 years and had also worked for Anthony’s and Bealls. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Builder’s Sunday school class. Ronnie was an avid bowler and active in Little League baseball.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rennie Havens.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Alice Havens of Odessa; nephew, Wade Havens and his wife Janice of Odessa and their children, Sharah and Ryan; and niece, Misty Havens of Odessa. He is also survived by aunt, Helen Bell of Amarillo; uncle, Carl Stephenson of Irving; and close friend, Jane Farrell of Odessa.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Mark Riley officiating.
