Raymond Thomas Weatherford

Raymond Thomas Weatherford, 82, of Odessa passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000 in his residence. He was born Sept. 2, 1918 to Milton and Arizona Weatherford in Boswell, Okla. He married Doris Snow on Nov. 28, 1945 and moved to Odessa in 1954.

Mr. Weatherford served in World War II throughout Southern France and Central Europe as part of the 45th Infantry Division. He faithfully served our Lord as a charter member of Central Baptist Church. He retired from Phillips Petroleum after 30 years of dedicated service.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Doris Weatherford of Odessa; son, Terry Weatherford and his wife, Eve of Temple; children, Scott, Travis and Shanna; three daughters, Jan Hewitt and her husband, Billy of Odessa, children, Christie and Chad; Nancy Schenkel of Odessa and son Cody; Becky Miller and her husband, Paul of Odessa, children Jason and Jared; two sisters, Ada Martin of San Angelo and Sue Pigg of Dripping Springs; two brothers, Milton Weatherford of Borger and Clarence Weatherford of Dumas; and seven great-grandchildren. Numerous family members and a host of friends also survive him.

A celebration in memory of his life is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2000, at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. David Johnson and Hospice Chaplain Rev. Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chad Hewitt, Scott Weatherford and Cody Schenkel; nephews, Don Witte, Richard Witte and Mike Witte.

If desired, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church or Sherwood Christian Academy or Home Hospice of Odessa.

Randall ‘Randy’ Kent Penn

ODESSA — Randall "Randy" Kent Penn, 43, of Houston, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at his home in Houston.

Services are set for 4 p.m. today, Dec. 8, 2000, at First Church of the Nazarene with Terry Pierce officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

He was born March 3, 1957, in Odessa and graduated from Permian High School in 1975. He moved to Houston in 1980 and worked for Kvaerner Products.

Randy died fighting a courageous battle of cancer. The family requests memorials be sent to M.D. Anderson in Houston.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Penn.

Survivors: Mother, Helen (Walker) Penn of Odessa; brother, Terry Allan Penn of Dallas; nephews, Trevor Penn of Arlington and Tyler Penn of Odessa; stepmother, Peggy Penn of Odessa; stepbrothers, Charlie Billingsley of Houston, Bobby Billingsley of Austin and Kelly Billingsley of Mexico; stepsister, Donna Lancaster of Colorado; grandmother, Carrie Broderson of San Manuel, Ariz.; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends in Houston and Odessa.

Jaime Don Perales

MIDLAND — Jaime Don Perales, 21, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa from injuries sustained in an automobile-related accident. He was born March 2, 1979, in Midland to Jose "Joe" Perales and Dolores G. Hernandez. He attended Midland High and Coleman High School. He was employed with Wal-Mart on Loop 338 and Checker Auto Parts on North County Road West in Odessa. He enjoyed bowling, basketball and being with family and friends. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Nina Hernandez; aunt, Janie Borrego; and uncles, Paul Hernandez and Jerry Hernandez.

A rosary and wake will be held at 7 p.m. today, Dec. 8, 2000, at Reyes-Garcia Chapel. The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Arturo Pestin officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Reyes-Garcia Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Sosa Perales of Odessa; son, Juan Gabriel Perales of Midland and stepson, Brandon Sosa of Odessa; daughters, Danielle Perales of Midland and Bailey Jordyn Perales of Odessa; brothers, Jeremy Joseph Perales and Matthew Paul Perales, both of Midland; parents, Jose "Joe" Perales of Midland and Dolores G. Hernandez of Katy; grandparents, Felipe and Petra Perales and Mike Hernandez, all of Midland; two nieces, Mercedes and Savannah Perales; a host of cousins and friends; and numerous uncles and aunts.

Pallbearers will be Joe Sosa, Martin Rivera, James Walker, Daniel Abila, Robert Houthan and Walter Salinas.

Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Mancha, Juan Gabriel Natividad, Armando Bonilla Jr., Eric Madrid, Robert Castillo and Timothy Hernandez.

Willie Mae ‘Nanny’ Watts

ODESSA — Willie Mae "Nanny" Watts was born Sept. 13, 1933, in Hasse to H.E. and Susanne "Sootie" Jones into a large family of seven brothers and sisters.

Her parents and younger brother Ray Jones preceded her in death.

Her sisters, Neva Floyd of Marble Falls, Lou Evans of Dublin, Dale Lane, Faye Grissom and older brother, Jim Jones, all of Odessa, survive her.

She wed W.C. Watts on Dec. 7, 1963, in Odessa until his death in 1995 and dedicated the rest of her life to the care of her four boys and their families until her passing Dec. 6, 2000.

Her son, Sam and his wife Joyce Watts of Odessa and their children Tabitha and Jeff Frame and their son Justin of Zanesville, Ohio, Kent and Karen Watts and their children Pete, Ashlyn and Emily of Odessa, Andrew Watts, Destiny Watts and Tiki Davis of Odessa, her son Danny and his wife Mary Watts of Odessa and children Rachel and Kyle Kevil of Austin, Brandy Watts and her daughter Katelyn of Odessa and Courtney Watts of Odessa, her son, Michael and his wife Melissa Watts of Odessa and children Lesha Watts of Dallas and Brantley Watts of Odessa, her son, Charley Watts and his daughters Lindy, Erica, Cassie and Sandra of Odessa all survive her.

Nanny’s love did not stop with just her four boys and their families. It was extended out to nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws and anyone of the many who knew her as Nanny. She was a living example of how to love and care for others and did so until her passing. Her memory will be cherished by many and the impact she had on others in her life can never be measured.

The celebration of her life will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home and graveside services will be conducted at 4 p.m. at Mount Hope cemetery in Anson the same day.

Della Faye Brown

ODESSA — Della Faye Brown, 89, of Monahans went to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, after a short illness.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with the Revs. David Lively and Morris Johnson officiating. Graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. in Monahans.

Pallbearers will be James Baker, Lucas Bedrick, Chris Hodge, Danny Hockett, Rodney Holley and Cecil Dann.

She was born June 3, 1911, in Lovington, N.M. She married James F. Brown in Ballinger in 1929. He preceded her in death in Oct. 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Sam, Curtis, Floyd, Ernest, Leonard and Willie; three sisters, Ruby, Essie and Ola; and a grandchild, Lillian.

She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Monahans. She served several terms as president of the Monahans Rebekahs Lodge #27. She held the highest rank of the L.A.P.M. she received the Decoration of Chivalry March 19, 1987. She was an election judge of Thorntonville, Ward County, Texas, for many years. She was also a member of Royal Neighbors and an adviser of Theta Rhos Girls Club. She was a member of the art club and through this talent, her family and friends received many of her beautiful paintings. She stayed busy gardening and with church work, civil work and senior citizen club.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Sellars and husband Bill of Coleman and Frankie Hall of Odessa; grandchildren, Donald Baker and wife LaVona of Odessa, Debbie Horrell of Odessa, Darren Baker and wife Doris of Odessa, Betty Jo Trimble and husband Joe of Ballinger, Patty McKeehan and husband Jerry of Madisonville, Tenn., Karen Bland and husband Alan of Burkett and Paul Stuard and wife Raynelle of Abilene; 16 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe of Ballinger; and sister, Jewel of Artesia, N.M.

Grandmother, today your family gathers to mourn our greatest loss and to comfort each other. Our hearts are breaking, our tears keep falling, but you will be in our hearts forever. The thought of you entering God’s kingdom to Granddad’s outstretched arms and your loved ones around you will soften our sorrow. We will always remember your unconditional love you have for each and every one of us. We know that from this day forward you will be watching over us. Your legacy will keep going on through your children and grandchildren. We will never, never forget you.

We love you, Grandmother!

Joe Gonzales Ramirez

ODESSA — Joe Gonzales Ramirez, 70, of Odessa died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at his residence.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, Dec. 12, 2000, at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 12, 2000, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Francis Frey officiating. Burial will be at Ector County cemetery.

He was born Feb. 17, 1930, in San Antonio to Maria Gonzales and Francisco Ramirez. He was a retired self-employed businessman. He retired from the Army National Guard after serving in the Korean War. He was a resident of Amarillo before moving to Odessa 43 years ago.

He was preceded in death by his father, Francisco Ramirez; mother, Maria Gonzales; daughter, Lupe Ramirez; brother, Phillip Ramirez; and sister, Georgia Rodriguez.

Survivors include his sons, Joe S. Ramirez of Austin, Ricardo Ramirez of The Colony, John Joe Ramirez and Elicio Ramirez, both of Odessa; daughters, Josephine Boncek of Atlanta, Judy S. Ramirez of Pagosa Springs, Colo., Cynthia Ramirez of El Paso, Maria Ramirez and Marissa Ramirez, both of Odessa; brother, Eddie Ramirez of San Antonio; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Kellie Deanna Rimer

ODESSA — Services for Kellie Deanna Rimer, 33, of Midland are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Kellie died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Midland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center. She was born Dec. 9, 1967, in Odessa.

Kellie had lived in Midland for the past six years. She had worked for Midtex of Midland as an interior designer for over two years. She was currently serving as the president of the Junior Women’s League of Midland. She had taught aerobics in Odessa and Midland. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Midland.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Vickie Rimer in 1987.

Survivors include her father, Larry Rimer and wife Pamela of Odessa; stepmother, Margaret Rimer of Odessa; maternal grandmother, Wilma Matthews of Odessa; brothers, Larry Rimer Jr. and wife Mechelle of Odessa and Joshua Rimer of Odessa; sister, Melanie Rimer Davis and husband Douglas of Odessa; stepsister, Christy King and husband Tim of Abilene; and six nieces and nephews.

Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Mary Bond Franklin

ODESSA — Services for Mary "Addie" Bond Franklin, 90, of Odessa are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Dec. 12, 2000, at Wesley Evangelical Methodist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Newton officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Franklin will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the service time today at the church.

Mrs. Franklin died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at New Horizons Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 20, 1910, in Lufkin. She married Charles Franklin Aug. 12, 1951, in Bullard. He died in 1980.

Mrs. Franklin had lived in Odessa since 1940. She was a retired school teacher and a member of the Eastern Star and a longtime faithful member of Wesley Evangelical Methodist Church, where she was involved with the Evangelical Methodist Women.

Survivors include her nieces, June Hughes, Judy Hughes, Willie Mae Martin, Lucille Carroll and Pearl Marlin, all of Lufkin, and Melba Carter of Tyler; nephews, Oscar Newburn of Dallas and Guy Newburn of Lufkin; great-niece, Gaye Skaggs and husband Den-nis of Odessa; and many other nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials to Wesley Evangelical Methodist Church Building Fund.
