Henry Clay ‘Son’ Monroe Jr.
IRAAN — Henry Clay Monroe Jr., 83, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Shannon Medical Center.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at the Restland cemetery in Iraan with Brother Clay Mason officiating. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Chapel of Iraan.
Son was born April 1, 1917, in Sanderson. He married
Rachel "Raye" Black on May 4, 1940, who preceded him in death in 1980. He retired from Marathon Oil Co. in Iraan in February of 1986 after 38 years of service.
He is survived by a sister, Wilma Mansfield of Ruidoso, N.M.; an aunt, Dorothy Ingham of San Angelo; and two children, Henry Clay Monroe III and wife Diane of Iraan and Karen Tyson and husband Gene of San Angelo. He had numerous grandchildren, including Kyle Tyson and wife Angie of San Angelo, Cass Tyson of Fayetteville, Ark., Cary Tyson of Iraan, Kim Monroe of Monahans, Henry Clay "Hank" Monroe IV of Seattle, Wash., Karen Elaine Monroe of Silver City, N.M., Gary Ray Monroe of Phoenix, Kristi Lacy of Santa Anna and Travis Lacy of Yorba Linda, Calif. His great-grandchildren are Nikki Ortiz, Ethan Ortiz, Taylor Kerr and Audrey Tyson.
Son was a Christian man and a loving father and grandfather. Gaddy, you will be missed.

Ernest Monroe Oglesby
ODESSA — Ernest Monroe Oglesby, 67, of Goldsmith died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at his residence.
He was born April 17, 1933, in Olden and moved to Goldsmith in 1972 from Big Lake. He served in the Army as a signal corporal in Austria and Germany during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He was a retired disposal operator and Baptist. He loved to fish, hunt arrowheads and play pool.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Pascal Curtis and Ethel Lee Oglesby; brother, George Edward Oglesby; sister, Patricia Houser; granddaughter, Kristy Ann Lee; and great-grandson, Daniel Kennedy.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann of Goldsmith; sons, Monty Ray Oglesby of Rankin and Terry Gene Oglesby of Odessa; daughters, Debra Jan Turner of Northville, Mich., Tanya Yvette Read of Harrisonville, Mo., Sheila Ann Pate and Gay Dawn Kennedy, both of Odessa; brother, Arthur Ray Oglesby of Brownwood; sister, Mary Joette Langford of Ranger; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jimmy Cameron presiding.

Sunshine Grady Perry
ODESSA — Sunshine Grady Perry passed away at her home in Odessa surrounded by her family Dec. 31, 2000. She was known as "Sunny," a name symbolizing her personality.
Sunny was born March 26, 1908, in Lockesburg, Ark., the fourth of eight children of Fanny Vaughn Grady and Walter Clay Grady. When in her teens, she and her family moved to Shamrock where she finished high school. She then attended West Texas State Teachers College in Canyon and received a teaching certificate.
She met a young banker, Charles B. Perry in Shamrock, and they were married
Jan. 26, 1929. They moved to Odessa in 1945 where he organized First State Bank and served as its first chief executive officer, a position he held until 1968, at which time he became chairman of the board.
For 55 years, Sunny was a member of First United Methodist Church and its Fidelis Sunday School Class. Her church and its activities were always very important in her life.
Outgoing and friendly, Sunny enjoyed family, friends, golf and travel. As a creative person, she was an accomplished seamstress and was known for her beautiful needlepoint work.
She was a devoted supporter of the Crystal Ball Foundation and its main charity, the Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center. Sunny served on the Crystal Ball Foundation Board for many years and as its president in 1966. She had also participated in many other organizations and clubs.
An avid golfer, Sunny played regularly and was a member of the Odessa Country Club Women’s Golf Association. As her health failed, she continued to reside at her home until her death with the assistance of three dedicated caregivers, Della Jones, Beverly Norris and Etta Watson.
Sunny was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Perry; her parents and her three sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by three sons and their wives, Charles R. and Nancy Jo Perry of Odessa, Kenneth W. and Mary Dean Perry of Dallas and James R. and June V. Perry of Granbury. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Martha Ernst, Beth Sewell, Jeff Perry, Kathryn Perry, Tom Perry, Joel Perry and Nancy Perry; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her pallbearers include her three grandsons and three grandsons-in-law, Cliff Ernst, Richard Sewell and C.C. McCutcheon.
A memorial services for Sunny is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. today, Jan. 3, 2001, in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donnie Williams officiating.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Home Hospice of Odessa, the Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center or a charity of your choice.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Jarrod Seth Richardson
BIG SPRING — Jarrod Seth Richardson, 24, of Big Spring died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, in Big Spring.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 3, 2001, at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
He was born April 29, 1976, in Paris, Texas. Jarrod was raised in Kermit and Odessa and had attended schools there. He had moved to Big Spring in October 1999 and attended Howard College. He went to work for Cornell Corrections and had attained the rank of sergeant as a correctional officer. He played the drums and had played in several bands. He was Baptist.
He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Buck Walker and Ray Richardson.
Survivors include his daughter, Alexis Bree-Ann Richardson of Odessa; mother and stepfather, Debie and A.J. Pirkle of Big Spring; father and stepmother, Robert and Menet Richardson of Kermit; paternal grandmother, Mary Richardson of Kermit; maternal grandparents, Karl and Scottie Wall of Duncanville; his sister, Jillian Richardson of Austin; his half brother, Tyler Richardson of Kermit; his half sister, McKenna Richardson of Kermit; three stepbrothers and their wives, Kevin and Jessica Pirkle and their son Caleb, all of Big Spring, Kris and Alise Pirkle of Midland and Jay and Lynn Pirkle and their daughter Haley, all of Albuquerque, N.M.; and stepgrandparents, Ken and Mary Mays of Kermit.

Doris Ruth Flood Roba
ODESSA — Doris Ruth Flood Roba, 71, of Odessa passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at her residence.
Mrs. Roba moved to Odessa in 1989 from Washington, D.C. She had worked as an agent for the Better Business Bureau in Sacramento, Calif., and San Antonio.
Survivors are her son, Richard Clay of Dallas; daughter, Karen Sandifer of Houston; brother, Eddie Flood of Odessa; three grandchildren; and aunt, Vada Brown of Fort Worth.
Her services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 3, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth.

Jimmy Smallwood
DUNCANVILLE — Jimmy Smallwood of Midlothian passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000.
He was born March 21, 1956, in Odessa. Employed with Lockheed Martin the past 15 years, Jimmy was a senior cost schedule analyst. He was also a faithful member of Cedar Ridge Evangelical Methodist Church in Duncanville.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Becky Mayo Smallwood of Midlothian; son, Jared and daughter Candace; mother, Janice Foster of Odessa; father, Wimpy Smallwood of Leander; sisters, Vicki Vincent and Lorna Stell, both of Odessa; and grandfather, A.W. Smallwood of Odessa.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Cedar Ridge Evangelical Methodist Church, 419 N. Cedar Ridge in Duncanville, with Pastor Michael E. Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Little Bethel cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at the church.

Noma Leona ‘Polly’ Stahl
ODESSA — Noma Leona "Polly" Stahl, 91, of Odessa died Jan. 1, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born May 17, 1909, in Loraine to Lee and Alice May.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. James Bishop officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Longwolf cemetery in Loraine.
Mrs. Stahl moved to Odessa in 1954 from Snyder. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a sales clerk at Anthony’s and Williams Jewelry until her retirement.
Mrs. Stahl was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Edwin Stahl.
Survivors are her son, Edwin Stahl and wife Eileen of Marlow, Okla.; brothers, L.D. May of Odessa and Hubert May of Colorado City; grandchild, Sam Lee Stahl; great-grandchild, Nicole Stahl; and great-great-grandchild, Zachary Blanchard, all of Pasadena.

Floy Betrice Waters
ODESSA — Floy Betrice Waters, 80, of Odessa died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born Sept. 12, 1920, in Bearden, Ark., to Marcus and Ivey Colvert. Mrs. Waters graduated from Fairview High School in Camden, Ark.
Floy married
Charles Grady Waters Dec. 16, 1950. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past December.
She was a member of Vine Baptist Church. She was a great housewife, mother and grandmother. She always believed family came first. She loved to sew. She was a member of West Texas Gadabouts and really loved to travel.
She was preceded in death by first husband, Thomas Wesley Price, who died during World War II in Luzon, Philippines, in 1945.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Charles Grady Waters of Odessa; daughters, Dottie Creech and husband Paul of Irving, Jeannie Hight and husband Joel of Odessa and Debbie Imler and husband Phillip of Odessa; son, David Waters and wife Katie of Denver, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was loved very much and will be greatly missed.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Vine Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Thurman officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
