Mary Sanders

ODESSA — Mary M. Sanders, 79, of Odessa died Oct. 22, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home in Odessa.

Karen Anne Seals Boone

ODESSA — Services for Karen Anne Seals Boone, 54, of Lewisville are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Antioch Christian Church with the Rev. Don Fankhauser officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Boone passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. She was Born Dec. 20, 1946, in Mineral Wells and married James "Jim" Boone Dec. 19, 1970, in Odessa.

Karen moved to Odessa in 1947 from Mineral Wells. She enjoyed spending time with family, volunteering as a den mother and a band parent and she was a great cook. She spent time working with arts and crafts and also worked at the Antioch Christian Church library, where she was a member from 1973 to 1992. Then she and Jim moved to Lewisville where they were members of North Point Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, James L. Boone of Lewisville; mother, Lucille G. Seals of Odessa; sons, Terry C. Boone of Dallas and James L. Boone of Joplin, Mo.; daughters, Kimberly D. Boone of Las Vegas and Rebecca M. Boone Jones of Lewisville; brother, Vernon M. Boone Jr. of Odessa; and granddaughter, Heather M. Arnada of Odessa.

The family suggests memorials be made to Vocal Majority, P.O. Box 29904, Dallas, Texas 75229.

Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Stanley West

ODESSA — Stanley West, 44, died Oct. 21, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services are pending with Odessa Funeral Home.

Willie Crain

ANDREWS — Willie Velma Crain, 93, of Andrews died Oct. 21, 2000, at Permian General Hospital in Andrews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Andrews Church of Christ with Glen Long and Moody Conner officiating. Burial will be in Andrews West cemetery. Arrangements are with McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.

She was born Feb. 4, 1907, in Erath County, Texas.

SURVIVORS: Son, Derrel Crain of Andrews; daughters, Anna Lou Hooper of Center and Dolores Pryor of Andrews; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Coon

ANDREWS — Dorothy Mae Coon, 83, of Andrews, a homemaker, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church Chapel with the Revs. H.A. Hanks and Cameron Givan officiating. Burial will be at the Andrews West cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.

She was born in Sand Springs, Okla., and moved to Andrews in 1949. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Linda Bartlett of Sayulita, Mexico, and Dorothy "Dotti" Blanks of Andrews; sister, Mary Lou Pierce of Fairfax, Okla.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Phillip Gomes

STANTON — Phillip Charles Gomes, 68, of Stanton, a retired laborer, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at his residence.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at Evergreen cemetery with Van Pendergrass officiating. Arrangements by Stanton Memorial Funeral Home and Chapel.

He was born in Los Angeles and had been a resident of Stanton since 1985. He was a Marine Corps veteran.

SURVIVORS: None listed.

Laura Harrell

ODESSA — Laura Michelle Harrell, 24, of Odessa, a telemarketer for West Telemarketing Co., died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. James Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. James Ellis officiating. Burial will be at Ector County cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

She was born in Odessa and was a lifelong resident.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Zabreya Lashay Harrell of Odessa; father, R.L. Gilbert Jr. of Midland; mother, Sharion Loraine Harrell-Griffin of Odessa; stepfather, Alfred Ingram of Odessa; sister, Shannon Harrell of Midland; and grandmother, Gracie Harrell of Odessa.

Virginia Holder

STILLWATER — Virginia R. Holder, 80, of Stillwater, a retired retail salesperson, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Stillwater Medical Center.

No services are scheduled.

She was born in Millersview and had been a resident of Odessa and Goldsmith. She was Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Son, Mike Holder of Stillwater; brothers, W.T. "Dub" Riley and Don Riley, both of Odessa; sisters, Bobby Fisher and Oma Bullard, both of Odessa, and Ann Shields of Lake Whitney; and a grandchild.

Jose Marquez

ARLINGTON — Jose Oviedo Marquez, 56, of Arlington, owner of Marquez Bakery and Tortilla Factory, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, in Arlington.

Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Matthew's Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Schumacker officiating. Burial will be at Moore Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Moore Funeral Home.

He was born in Piedras Negras, Mexico.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Ester Marquez of Arlington; daughters, Lucy Marquez of San Angelo, Norma Alvarez and Sally Marquez, both of Arlington; and three grandchildren.

Guadalupe Morales

ODESSA — Guadalupe Morales, 54, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at Thomason General Hospital in El Paso.

Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

She was born in Van Horn. She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Santiago Martinez and Javier Morales, both of Ojinaga, Mexico, and Joey Morales of Garden City, Kan.; brother, Dolores Morales of Chihuahua, Mexico; sister, Socorro Arevala of Odessa; and two grandchildren.

John Pate

ODESSA — John Paul Pate, 79, of Lake Colorado City, a retired oilfield worker, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at a Big Spring hospital.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Don Snipes officiating. Arrangements by Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home.

He was born in Dawson County and had been a resident of Midkiff and Odessa. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: Sisters, Letha Nixon of Big Spring and Leta McDougall of Lubbock; and brother, Joe Pate of Henderson.

Waylon Piper

PADUCAH — Waylon "Toar" Piper, 79, of Paducah, a retired farmer and stockman, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at his residence.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Robert Beck and James Hooper officiating. Burial will follow at the Paducah Garden of Memories cemetery. Arrangements by Seigler Funeral Home.

He was born in Comanche County. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Grace Piper of Paducah; sons, John Stanley Piper of Gardendale and Waylon Mart Piper of Arlington; brothers, A.C. Piper and G.E. Piper, both of Paducah; sisters, Martha Riley of Paducah and Mary Stinnett of Baird; and five grandchildren.

Mary Powell

BIG LAKE — Mary Powell, 86, of Gardendale died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at a Midland hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at 3 p.m. today at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.

She was born in Fort Worth and had been a resident of Big Lake before moving to Gardendale.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Gregory Powell of Gardendale; daughters, Judy Luxton of San Angelo and Nancy Koch of Floresville; and four grandchildren.

Paz Carrillo

TAPPAN, N.Y. — Paz Carrillo, 29, of Odessa died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, in Tappan, N.Y.

Arrangements are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Daniel Kennedy

ODESSA — Daniel Jacob Kennedy, an infant, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

VERNAL, Utah — Wesley Dean Tims, 39, of Odessa died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at Valley Medical Center in Vernal, Utah.
