Michael David Earney
BURNET — Michael David Earney, age 70, recently of Burnet, passed away gently after a lengthy illness Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001.
Born in Breckenridge in 1930 to F.I. and Edna Earney, Michael graduated from Breckenridge High School. He went on to receive a bachelor of arts degree from North Texas State College in Denton, a master of arts degree from Michigan State College and a law degree from Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn. He practiced law primarily in Odessa where he also served as assistant county attorney, county attorney and county judge.
Mike is survived by a daughter, Kay Hubbard, and her husband, David, of Burnet; a grandson, Aaron Hubbard, also of Burnet; and two stepdaughters, Kimberly Woerner of Crossplains and Kathy Eoff of Zephyr. He is also survived by brother, Franklin Earney Jr. of Fort Worth and sisters, Georgine Lawson of Lake Charles, La., Frances Jenny of San Jose, Calif., Kay Treadwell of Bakersfield, Calif., and Pansy Hurt of Lubbock.
Private services are planned.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Parkinson’s research or the church or charity of your choice.

Roxie Roberts
ODESSA — Roxie Carolina Roberts, 87, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Saturday, March 10, 2001, at Seabury Nursing Center.

She was born in Bowie County. She was Baptist.

Vernice Quigley
ODESSA — Vernice Quigley, 80, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Mrs. Quigley was born in Brazos County to Jessie and Betty Hunter. She grew up in Bryan and worked as a cook for many years for Cunningham’s Restaurant in Houston. Mrs. Quigley came to Odessa in May 1985, where she did much volunteer work with the Odessa ARC. She was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church in Odessa. Mrs. Quigley was very active with the Southside Senior Citizens Center. Her family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Odessa Association of Retarded Citizens.
Mrs. Quigley was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Quigley Sr. and her parents.
She is survived by four sons, Arthur L. Quigley of Lakeview Terrace, Calif., Sammy Quigley of Bossier City, La., and Anthony Quigley of and John Quigley, both of Odessa; four daughters, Denae Penson of Panorama City, Calif., Melva Lee and Rosie L. Quigley, both of Austin, and Georgia K. Quigley of Odessa; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at St. Matthew Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony C. Slack officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Oakwood cemetery in Bryan.

PECOS — Heustacio F. Hernandez, 71, of Odessa, a retired laborer, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, in Odessa.

He was born in Balmorhea. He was Catholic.

OZONA — Pete William Jacoby, 86, of Ozona, retired Crockett County extention agent, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, in San Angelo.

ODESSA — Charles Paul Jones, 86, of Odessa, a retired employee of Babbitt Bearing Co., died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at his residence.

He was born in Tulsa, Okla., and moved to Odessa from Sand Springs, Okla., in 1965.

ANDREWS — Joyce Johnson Springer, 74, of Odessa, a retired cashier for Anthony’s Department Store in Andrews, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at her residence.

She was born in Clifton and had been a resident of Andrews before moving to Odessa in 1991. She was Presbyterian.

JAL, N.M. — Vernice Tyler, 92, of Jal, N.M., a retired employee of Winn’s Department Store in Jal, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.

She was born in Rising Star and had been a resident of Wink before moving to Jal in 1954. She was Baptist.

ANDREWS — Harold Pilgrim, 86, of Andrews, a retired employee of Exxon Oil Co., died Monday, March 12, 2001, at Permian General Hospital in Andrews.

He was born in Pushmataha County, Okla., and moved to Andrews from McCamey in 1958. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
