FORT STOCKTON Ricardo Carrasco, 69, of Fort Stockton, a sales representative for Gandys Dairies Inc., died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, in Fort Stockton.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. David Herrera officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
He was born in Marfa and was a resident of Fort Stockton since 1933. He was Catholic.

GOLDTHWAITE Ed Dennard, 71, of Odessa, a service station and restaurant operator, died Saturday, March 10, 2001, in Odessa.

He was born in Big Valley. He was Baptist.

SEMINOLE Suzanne Fortson, 54, of Kermit, a teacher, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.

She was born in Seminole and moved to Kermit from Big Spring in 1974. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Charlie Nunn Jr.
MONAHANS Charlie Nunn Jr., 59, of Monahans, an oil technician, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Midland.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church with J.D. Stuart and A.J. Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.
He was born in Calvert and was a resident of Monahans for 51 years. He was a member of the Church of God in Christ.

Jennie Margarene (Margie) Russell
ODESSA Jennie Margarene (Margie) Russell, 77, of Odessa, died Jan. 8, 2001 at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born Feb. 6, 1923 in Lilly Community, TX to Willie and Susie Horton.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tues, Jan. 9, 2001, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Revs. Bill Counts and Don Elmore officiating. Interment will follow at Ector County cemetery.
Mrs. Russell moved to Odessa in 1948. She married
Charles Russell on Nov. 24, 1961 in Odessa. They moved to Arkansas in 1969 and back to Odessa in 1995. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and had a very strong faith in God. She was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church in Springdale, Ark., where she received the Mother of the Year award in 1990. She retired as a bookkeeper.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Alvin E. Horton and Jacob T. Horton, sisters; Willie B. Harwell, Irene E. Connelly and ModeIl F. Cleveland.
Mrs. Russell is survived by her husband, Charles Russell of Odessa, Raymond Horton and wife, Faye of Wellington, her sons; Ernest "EK" Peach and wife, Bettie of Pensacola, FL and Charles "CW" Smith and wife, Brenda of Odessa, her daughters; Laverna "Sue" Tune and husband, Gary of Fredericktown, MO and Janet Cree and husband, William "Dub" of Odessa, 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joseph Arthur Day
ODESSA Joseph Arthur Day, 78, died January 7, 2001, in Fort Worth, Texas. Visitation was held at Shannon Funeral Chapels, 6001 Rule Snow, Fort Worth, on Monday, January 8, 2001. Interment will be in Lonesome Dove cemetery, Southlake, TX. A memorial service at North Fort Worth Baptist Church is scheduled at 2 p.m. today. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Odessa, Texas, Thursday at 10 a.m.
Mr. Day was born April 27, 1922, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Harry E. and Katherine Day. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WWII. While stationed at Pyote Bomber Base he met and married
Bobbie Ruth Foster. He took great joy in his family, his church, and was a loyal friend to many.
An ordained deacon, Mr. Day served in many capacities in his church, but may best be remembered as the "candy man," giving more than 1,000 pounds of candy, each piece with his special smile and word of encouragement as he visited hospitals, nursing homes, churches, and neighborhoods.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bobbie Day; son, Donald Day, Sr. and wife Vickie of Fort Worth, son, Dale Day and wife Eleanor of Corpus Christi; one grandson, Donald Day, Jr. and wife Julie and their son Charles of Dallas; two granddaughters, Amy Radtke and her daughter, Jordan, of Dallas, and Katherine Day of Corpus Christi. He is also survived by one sister, Lillian Milling of Randolph, Mass. and several dearly loved nieces and nephews.
Memorial gifts may be made to North Fort Worth Baptist Church of Fort Worth or First Baptist Church, Odessa, if desired.
James "Jim" Hillis
ODESSA James "Jim" Hillis, 63 of Odessa, died Jan. 6, 2001 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Jan. 8, 1937 in Hermleigh to Cullum and Eva Hillis.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wed., Jan. 10, 2001, at Eisenhower Church of Christ with Burt Groves officiating.
Mr. Hillis married
Glenda Joyce Sledge, April 24, 1964, in Comanche. They moved to Odessa in 1967.
He retired from UPS in 1996 after 25 years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening in his herb garden, wood carving and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cullum and Eva Hillis and a brother, Jeryl Hillis.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Hillis of Odessa; son, Mike Hillis and wife, Linda Sue of Albuquerque, NM; daughters, Brinda Rollman and husband, J.R. of Odessa, Donna Bradshaw of Valencia, CA and Linda Perkins of Mission, TX; grandchildren; Chris, Tiffany, and Brandon Bradshaw, Robert and Tana Perkins, Jasmine, Amy, Becky and Jonathan Rollman; brothers, Gary Hillis of Comanche and Mike Hillis of Greeley, CO; and sister, Mitsy Cleveland of Brownwood.

Mildred Irene Walker
SAN ANTONIO Mildred Irene Walker, age 79, passed away Jan. 7, 2001. She was born in Reese, Kan., on Jan. 19, 1921 to Sherman and Maude Cornett.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years James G. Walker, and a daughter, Sally Walker. A longtime resident of Odessa and a member of the First Christian Church, she spent a number of years volunteering at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa and North East Baptist Hospital in San Antonio. Mildred spent the last several years of her life living in San Antonio with her granddaughter Tracy Quellar and her husband Steve.
She was survived by her daughter, Susie Love of Odessa and her son, Kent Walker of Midland; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held in Dallas. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

He was born in Brookline, Mass. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
