MONAHANS — Kate Bright, 81, of Monahans, a retired school teacher, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, in Houston.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harkey Funeral Chapel with Stephen Swisher officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

She was born in Iredell. She was a longtime Monahans resident. She was Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Sons, David Fox of Houston and Rudy Fox of Skokie, Ill.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

J.D. Kilgore

CRANE — J.D. Kilgore, 95, of Midland, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at the Odessa Hospice House.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Crane County cemetery with the Rev. Steve Baker officiating. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.

He was born in Talpa. He lived in Ozona and Crane before moving to Midland.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Larry W. Kilgore and James E. Kilgore, both of Midland, and Done G. Kilgore of Ozona; sister, Viola Harris of Cold Springs; and seven grandchildren.

Ramon Ornelas

MARFA — Ramon M. Ornelas, 58, of Marfa, an agricultural worker, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, in Marfa.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Ruiz officiating. Burial will be at Marfa cemetery.

He was born in San Antonio del Bravo, Chihuahua, Mexico.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Irma Ann Ornelas of Marfa; daughters, Ismelda Ornelas and Vanessa Ornelas, both of Marfa; stepson, Ricky Sanchez of Dallas; sisters, Lucia Carrasco, Esperanza Lopez and Herminia Pallares, all of Portales, N.M. and Juana Sanchez of Arlington; brothers, Domingo Ornelas, Gonzalo Ornelas and Tito Ornelas, all of Midland, Mariano Ornelas of Marfa and Jesus Ornelas of Portales, N.M.

Helen Hartfelder

Hickory, N.C. — Helen Marjorie Hartfelder, 80, of Hickory, N.C., a homemaker, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Frye Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements are pending with Bess-Smith Funeral Home.

Mary Gibson

ODESSA — Mary Lee Gibson, 93, of Odessa, a retired cook for Medical Center Hospital, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, in Odessa.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jack Watkins officiating. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

She was born in Comanche.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Lonnie Jack Gibson of Odessa and Jimmy Gibson of Richardson; daughters, Mary Peitchinsky and Johnnie Jones, both of Odessa; sister, Carrie Nichols of Comanche; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Benny Mills

MIDLAND — Benny Edward Mills, 54, of Odessa, a truck driver for Montgomery Trucking Co., died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, in Shattuck, Okla.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Raymond Bugg officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Mineola and moved to Odessa from Mineola in 1950.

SURVIVORS: Son, Benny Edward Mills Jr. of Mineral Wells; mother, Betty Harris of Odessa; stepfather, Charles Harris of Odessa; and sisters, Lois Platt of Weatherford and Bennie Dell Morrow of Sierra Vista, Ariz.

Ernest Palmer Sr.

ANDREWS — Ernest Edison Palmer Sr., 80, of Andrews, a retired supervisor for El Paso Natural Gas Co., died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at Permian General Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Henson officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Kingsland cemetery in Kingsland. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.

He was born in Greensburg, Penn., and had been a resident of Kingsland before moving to Andrews in 1999. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Sarah Bohannon of Andrews; brother, Samuel Palmer Jr. of Grapeville, Penn.; sister, Verna Mae Hamilton of Sharpsville, Penn.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Geraldine Powell

FORT STOCKTON — Geraldine Powell, 89, of Groesbeck, retired owner of the Sweet Shop in Fort Stockton, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, in Groesbeck.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at East Hill cemetery with Greg Sackett officiating. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

She was born in Odessa and was a resident of Fort Stockton before moving to Groesbeck in 1990. She was a member of the Assembly of God.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Gwen Sackett of Groesbeck, Jan Caskey of Humble and Carla Barrett of Plano; son, Rodney Powell; sisters, Ina Heagy and Edith Boatman, both of Imperial; 10 grand-children; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Precious McMarion

ODESSA — Precious McMarion, 75, of Odessa died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, in Odessa.

Services are pending with Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Billy Bell

ODESSA — Billy Ray Bell, 64, of Odessa, a building contractor, died Saturday March 24, 2001, at his residence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eisenhower Church of Christ with Mike Vestal officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

He was born in Santa Anna and moved to Odessa in 1974. He was an Army veteran.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Jean Bell of Odessa; sons, Randy Ray Bell and David Howard Bell, both of Odessa; mother, Myrtle Bell of Odessa, brothers, LeeRoy Bell of Odessa and Don Bell of Bethany, Okla.; sisters, Lula Duncan and JoAnne Pitman, both of Odessa; and four grandchildren.

Ladell Ellis

ODESSA — Ladell "Slim" Ellis, 84, of Odessa, a roustabout, died Feb. 24, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rosehill cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell presiding.

He was born in Odessa. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Son, John Ellis of Odessa; daughters, Barbara Ellis of Dove Canyon, Calif., Jan Topper of San Ramon, Calif.; brother, George Ellis of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sister, Irene Blevins of El Paso; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Ted Henderson

MARATHON — Ted L. Henderson, 84, of Marathon, a rancher, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, in Robert Lee.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today at Marathon cemetery with the Rev. David Cook officiating. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.

He was born in Menard and lived in Marathon much of his life. He was a military veteran.

SURVIVORS: Five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Martha McCarver-Crosson

SNYDER — Martha Gayle McCarver-Crosson, 66, of Santa Ana, a homemaker, died Friday, March 23, 2001, in Abilene.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Bell-Cypert-Seale Chapel with the Rev. Miller Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Snyder cemetery.

She was born in Snyder. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Son, Cary Coffee of Snyder; daughters, Debra Jones of Odessa, Kim Phillips of Dumfries, Va., and Penni Coffee of Brady; mother, Mary Belle Cary of Brownwood; sisters, Mary Lou Taylor of Tempe, Ariz., and Pat Cloud of Austin; and seven grandchildren.

Ruby Neves

SNYDER — Ruby Lois Neves, 65, of Snyder, a retired secretary, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, in her residence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Colonial Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Tommy Culwell and Miller Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens.

She was born in Fisher County and had lived in Snyder since 1965. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Roy Neves of Snyder; sons, Larry Neves and Nicky Neves, both of Snyder, Toby Neves of Monahans and Tracy Neves of Jonesboro, Ariz.; daughter, Kimberly Gambol of Snyder; brothers, Gerald Adams of Midland and Herman Adams of Martindale; sisters, Louise Johnson of Abilene, Doris Metcalf of Tulia and Maurine Lay of Odessa; and 14 grandchildren.

Manuel Gomez Flores

PECOS — Manuel Gomes Flores, 58, of Pecos, a retired painter, died Thursday, March 8, 2001 at his residence. Prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Monty Huffman officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Greenwood cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

He was born in Ojinaga, Mexico, and was a lifelong resident of Odessa. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was Christian.

SURVIVORS: Son, Ismael Flores of Odessa; brothers, Jose Flores of Fort Worth and Santiago Flores of Austin; and sisters, Josefa Herrera and Adela Rivera, both of Pecos.

Don Edwin Manley

ODESSA — Don Edwin Manley, 65, died Monday, March 5, 2001, in Odessa.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Paul Weymouth officiating. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Chapel.

SURVIVORS: Mother, Leslie Manley of Odessa.
