David Castellon Navarrette
ODESSA - David Castellon Navarrette, 60, of Odessa passed away Monday, March 26, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born Dec. 29, 1940, in Munday. He married
Michelle McCarroll on July 1, 1974, in Mohall, N.D. He was a maintenance supervisor for La Quinta Inn. He was a Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Martina Navarrette; brothers, Santos and Paul Navarrette; and sister, Mary Helen.
Survivors are his wife, Michelle Navarrette of Odessa; son, David Navarrette II of Odessa; daughter, Monique Fisk of Minneapolis, Minn.; brothers, Tony Navarrette of Rule, Martin Navarrette of Alvin, Marty Navarrette of Munday, Jimmy Navarrette of Ulysses, Kan., and Nick Navarrette of Pequot Lakes, Minn.; sisters, Beatrice Lerma of Munday and Martha Constante of Siratan; and a granddaughter, Alexis Navarrette of Monahans.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.

Bobby G. Scott
ODESSA - Bobby G. Scott, 61, of Odessa passed away Sunday, March 25, 2001, at a local hospital.
Mr. Scott was born Sept. 22, 1939, in Seagraves. His family moved to Odessa in 1948, where he graduated from Odessa High School in 1958. He attended Texas A&M and Corpus Christi State University and served in the U.S. Marine Reserves. He married
Ada Barry "Skeet" on March 13, 1981, in Odessa.
Mr. Scott had worked for Broncho Chevrolet for 19 years as a co-fleet manager. He will be deeply missed by all of his friends and family at Broncho Chevrolet and Frontier Mobile Housing.
Mr. Scott had been a member of First Baptist Church, the Odessa Optimist Club and was past president, contributor to the YMCA and a former member of the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang. He will be remembered as a very positive person who touched many, many lives in a positive way. He was a great husband and best friend and a wonderful father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Cicley Scott and his father, C.F. "Hoot" Gibson.
He is survived by his wife, Ada B. "Skeet" Scott of Odessa; two sons, Mark Scott and his wife Marla of Gardendale and Matthew Scott and his wife Angie of Odessa; two daughters, Lori Scott of Midland and Kay Lynn Lewis and her husband Mark of Odessa; his mother, Louise Gibson Jones of San Angelo; four brothers, Harlan Scott and his wife Linda of Gardendale, Fred Gibson and his wife Judy of Odessa, Eddie Scott and his wife Virginia of Lipscomb and Ronny Scott of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Rhonda Cutbirth and her husband Johnny of Cypress; five grandchildren, Heather, Scott, Cliff, Hunter and M’Kaylee Lewis; and numerous other family members and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today, March 28, 2001, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley and Don Franklin officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the West Texas Cancer Center, Boys and Girls Club of Odessa, M.D. Anderson or the Children and Youth Camp Scholarship Fund of First Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel following the services.

Veta O. Votaw
ODESSA - Veta O. Votaw, 93, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Feb. 15, 1908, to Robert O. and Simmie McCown Stuart in Paris, Texas.
Mrs. Votaw moved to Odessa in 1927. She had lived in Odessa, Penwell and Goldsmith. She was a member of the Parkview Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Votaw; mother, Simmie S. Stuart; and sisters, Ninnie L. Steffey and Mildred L. Nolan.
Survivors are her sister, Cleta Wineberg of Odessa; son, Gordon S. Votaw of Odessa; daughter, Sara Easley of Kermit; grandsons, Jon Easley of Kermit, Jay and Robin Easley of Kermit, Jeff and Sarah Votaw of Midland and Jill and Kevin McCoy of Floresville; and great-grandchildren, Megan, Jared and Brittany Easley of Kermit, Erica, Jeffrey, Adam and Ashley Votaw of Midland.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Parkview Church of Christ with Charles Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Raymond Joe West
ODESSA - Raymond Joe West went to be with our Lord on Saturday, March 24, 2001. He died from injuries sustained in a fall in Fort Worth.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, March 28, 2001, at Belmont Baptist Church with Rex Clayton and Kerry Peacock officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers are David Henson, Larry Henson, Russ Herrington, Ron Hughes, Noble Lee and Colin Sewell.
Raymond was born Oct. 7, 1929, in Coleman County to C.A. and Ruby Cate West, who preceded him in death. In 1945, he and his family moved to Odessa where he lived until his death. During the Korean War, he served as a medic in the U.S. Army. Raymond married
his best friend and sweetheart, Margaret Lillian Yancy, on July 26, 1952. A member of Belmont Baptist Church since 1945, he was the longest standing member. For over 30 years, he served as deacon, nursery Sunday school worker and choir member as well as in many other capacities.
As a master carpenter, he worked with his father in the family business, West Building Co. Hundreds of homes and businesses throughout Odessa showcase his workmanship. In 1989, Raymond joined Sewell Ford as staff carpenter and was employed there until his death.
As a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and co-worker, he touched thousands of lives with his hands and his heart. He will always be remembered by his loving wife of 48-and-a-half years, Margaret West; son, Raymond Joe West Jr. and his wife M.J. of Leesburg, Va.; son, Donald West and his wife Rita of Fort Worth; daughter, Marie Rivera and her husband Bobby of Odessa; daughter, Diane Peacock and her husband Kerry of San Angelo; daughter, Lucy Bounds and her husband Floyd of Fredericktown, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his stepmother, Ruby Leigh West of Odessa; brother, Ralph West and his wife LouElla of Granbury; brother, Robert West and his wife Darlene of Abilene; sister, Yoma Fowler of McCamey; sister, Dora Henson and her husband Loren Henson of Abilene; sister, Evelyn Singleterry and her husband Henry of Andrews; brother-in-law, Curtis Yancy and his wife Wanda of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Larry Yancy of Odessa; brother-in-law, Randy Yancy and his wife Debbie of Odessa; sister-in-law, Charel Davis of Odessa; sister-in-law, Nancy Smith of Brownwood; sister-in-law, Ann Brown of Odessa; stepbrothers, Jimmy Murphy and Johnny Murphy, both of Odessa; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and friends.

Jose "Chema" Botello Sr.
ODESSA - Jose "Chema" Botello Sr., 68, of Odessa died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at his residence.
He was born May 5, 1932, in Bruni. He was Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fransico Botello and Matilde Garcia Botello; brothers, Roman Botello, Cipriano Botello, Roberto Botello and Guadalupe Botello; sisters, Antonia Herrera and Isabel Salazar; and a granddaughter, Iris Nicole Botello.
He is survived by his wife, Frances N. Botello of Odessa; sons, Johnny Botello, Micheal Botello, Daniel Botello and Jose Botello Jr., all of Odessa; daughters, Belinda B. Rodriguez, Melba Botello, Janie B. Leyva and Lori Patino, all of Odessa; 21 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2001, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Micheal Botello Jr., Jimmy Baeza, Joel Baeza, Cruz DeAnda Jr., Andy Baeza Jr., Luis Rodriguez Jr., Rick Garza and Rudy DeAnda.

D.D. Lewis
ODESSA - D.D. Lewis, 93, of Odessa went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001. He was born Dec. 4, 1907, in Eastland County.
D.D. was a longtime member of the Sixth and Jackson Church of Christ. He was a retired employee of Gulf Oil Co. He hunted "treasure" for many years at various locations; his favorite was the meteor crater. He also enjoyed woodworking and made quilt racks for all his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joy McCormack, on March 7, 1987; his parents, John and Callie Lewis; brothers, Homer Lewis, Elmo Lewis, Delton Lewis, Dub Lewis, Bud Lewis and Glyndol Lewis; and sister, Alta Brown.
He is survived by his daughters, Jerri Nelson and her husband Coy of Duncanville and Callie Braddock and husband James of Odessa; former spouse and friend, Fay Fleming; brother, John L. Lewis Jr. and wife Odessa; sister, Geneva Sweat of Lubbock; nine grandchildren, Scott Braddock, Sid Braddock and wife Krista, Shelli Presley and husband Erik, Darren Nelson and wife Rebecca, Teresa Landry and husband Lance, Stephen Nelson, Jacque Pridemore and husband Bob, Marshall L. McCormack Jr. and Lori Barnes and husband Tommy; five great-grandchildren, Nathan and Brittany Pridemore, Lee McCormack, Zachary and Taylor Nelson and Kaitlyn Braddock; and many nieces and nephews.
His family wishes to express their appreciation to his loving caregivers, Kathy Pruiett, niece Carolyn Standefer and great-niece Tammy Neatherlin, whose excellent care allowed him to remain at home and to his neighbors who looked out after him so well.
Services were held Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Church of Christ Minister Roy Smalling officiated. Interment was at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Stephens Craig Turner
CONROE - Funeral service for Stephens Craig Turner, 21, of Odessa will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 13, 2001, at the Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel in Conroe. Interment will follow under the direction of Metcalf Funeral Directors in Forest Park The Woodlands cemetery.
Stephens was born July 11, 1979, in Rankin.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wayne Turner.
He is survived by his parents, Larry and Naomi Turner of Hobbs, N.M.; mother, Melinda Kelly; sisters, Ruby Turner of Odessa, Crista Rininger of Ballinger and Sharon Turner of Coleman; brothers, Larry Wayne Turner of Sweetwater and Eddie Turner of Coleman; and grandmother, Ruby Turner of Coleman.
