He was born in Sonora. He was a teacher for the Ector County Independent School District for 32 years. He taught at Crockett Junior High School and Odessa High School. He was Baptist.

ODESSA - Jery Wayne Frederick, 38, of Odessa, a lifetime Odessa resident, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
Servies will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Odessa Gospel Lighhouse with the Revs. Bobby Bell and Jonathan Jarratt officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born in Odessa. He served as a shop foreman and service technician for Jack Arledge for 20 years.

RANKIN - Katie Jo Hutchens, 77, of Rankin, a homemaker, died Friday, Dec. 22, at Desert View Manor Nursing Home in Crane.

She was born in Lubbock County. She lived in Rankin since 1952. She was Baptist.

BIG SPRING - Marcella King McCabe, 85, of Big Spring, an artist, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at an Odessa hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today with Ed Williamson officiating. Burial will be at Mount Olive Memorial Park. Arrangements by Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home.
She was born in Big Spring. She was loved the outdoors. She was Methodist.

SANDERSON - Leonor M. Pridgen, 72, of Odessa, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2000, at her home.

She was born in Sanderson. She lived there until moving to Odessa in 1987. She was Catholic.

ODESSA - John T. Masey, 87, of Midland, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Trinity Haven in Odessa.

James Lewis Sims
ODESSA - James Lewis Sims, 87, died at a local hospital in Odessa, TX, on January 2, 2001 after a brief illness. A private memorial is planned.
He was born in Purcell, Okla. on December 19, 1913 and raised on a dairy farm. After high school, he worked for Haliburton in the oil fields of West Texas in the 1930’s. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Sea Bees in the South Pacific. In the 1950’s he was a manufacture’s representative selling oil field equipment and he served as a junior warden at St. John’s Episcopal Church for a number of years.
He later owned his own business, Sims Equipment Company, that sold oil field equipment. From 1967 until 1983 he and his wife owned and operated the Paint Bucket, an arts and crafts business in Odessa.
Mr. Sims took an active part in the activities of his sons including acting as a Boy Scout Troop Leader for the troop at St. Mary’s Catholic Church where his sons attended grade school. A two-day hike with the troop from Buffalo Gap to Horse Head Crossing made a lasting impression on the young boys of the troop.
Mr. Sims was preceded in death by his parents Henry David Sims and Martha Ann "Lena" Cummings Sims of Waurika, OK; by his older brother Roy Sims of Graham, TX; and by his wife Gwyneth of 44 years, who died in 1994.
Mr. Sims is survived by his sons: James L. Sims, Jr. of Fort Worth, TX and by David Bort Sims and his wife Cindy of San Antonio, TX; by his sister Madean Rush of Enid, OK, and her daughter Donna Rush Lamb and family; and by his nephew LeRoy Sims and family of Dallas, TX. Mr. Sims was previously married
to Lucy Ann Byron Kennard with whom he had a daughter, Sally. He is survived by his daughter Sally Van Hooser and her family: children Tom, Tim and Stephanie; and by Tom’s children Brittany and Matthew.

MIDLAND - Jamie Beth Jackson Clifton, 47, of Midland, a homemaker, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at a local hospital.

ODESSA - Frank P. Costa, 81, of Odessa, a retired employee of El Paso Natural Gas Co., died Monday, April 2, 2001, at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. Griffin Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
He was born in Baltimore and moved to Odessa in 1950. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Erna Costa of Odessa; sons, Rick Costa of Amarillo and Joe Costa of Grapevine; sisters, Marie Tomalonis and Joan Todd, both of Baltimore; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Billy Gotcher
ODESSA - Billy Rex Gotcher, 67, of Odessa, a house painter, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at Hospice House.
