Donna Jean Lange
ODESSA - Donna Jean Lange, 72, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Deerings Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 30, 1928, to Art and Sophia Oxenrider in Shakapee, Minn.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 7, 2001, at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor A. Dean Kelm officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She married
Ray Lange on Jan. 12, 1949, in Jamestown, N.D. The couple then located in Aberdeen, S.D., where their first son Terry was born in 1950. In 1953, the family moved to Odessa and made their home. Lonnie was born in 1953 and Kyle in 1963.
During the children’s early years, Donna was a homemaker and provided for the children. She later worked for Gibson’s and Furr’s. She was known for her cooking, playing cards and being able to take life in stride, kindness and laughter. She enjoyed a special bond with her sisters and brother.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985 and many in-laws.
Mrs. Lange is survived by sons, Terry Lange and wife, Debbie, of Odessa, Lonnie Lange and wife, Betty, of Odessa and Kyle Lange and wife, Lisa, of Odessa and many grandchildren who will remember her hugs and sleepovers. She is also survived by her sisters, Kathryn Kolden of South Houston, Betty Wiltfang of Tucson, Ariz., and Janice Larson of Phoenix, Ariz., and brother, Kenneth Oxenrider of Houston.

Cecil Vernon Driggers
MARBLE FALLS - Cecil Vernon Driggers was born Oct. 20, 1920, in Seymour to Odessa and Hubert Driggers and died Feb. 28, 2001, in Marble Falls at 80 years of age.
Mr. Driggers grew up in Olney and married
Johnie Henry Dec. 25, 1938, in Wickett. During World War II, he was stationed at Camp Roberts in Paso Robles, Calif., and later returned to Wickett to raise his family.
Mr. Driggers worked for Gulf Oil Co. for 13 years until he began a construction company with his dad and brothers. He later started C.V. Driggers Construction Co. in Odessa with his sons. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Burnet and at one time served as a preacher and elder in Jonestown.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years as well as three sons and their wives: John and Judy of Bronte, Max and Sandy of Austin and Sid and Ruth of Odessa. His brothers and their wives are: Joe and Melba of Arlington, Harold and Hazel of Brownwood and Jerry and Shirlen of Arlington. Mr. Driggers is also survived by eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren as well as many friends throughout West and Central Texas.
Mr. Driggers requested that he be cremated. A private memorial service for his family will be held today, March 3, 2001, in Marble Falls.
Vallie Myrtle Bickerstaff
BASTROP - Vallie Myrtle Bickerstaff, 77, of Bastrop departed from this life Feb. 27, 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Ted Bickerstaff Sr.; sons, Martin Gordon, Ted Bickerstaff Jr. and Tim Bickerstaff; daughters, Rebecca Jones and Virginia Bickerstaff; brothers, James Sessions, Otis Sessions and Kenneth Sessions; a sister, Frances Blue; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Fairview cemetery in Bastrop.

ODESSA - Charles Roy Bell, 58, of Odessa, a maintenance laborer, died Friday, March 23, 2001, in Galveston.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today, March 29, 2001, at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Revs. R.S. Sutton and Newton Carey officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born in Stanford and moved to Odessa in 1985. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors are his daughter, Rayshell Onyeowelu of Houston; mother, Ruth Davis of Odessa; stepfather, Elmer Adanandus Sr. of Odessa; brother, Elmer Adanandus Jr. of Lithonia, Ga.; sisters, Shirley Arkadie and Frances Jackson, both of Odessa, Beverly Adanandus of Watauga, Sandra Babineaux of Leesville, La., Angela Taylor and Evelyn Adanandus, both of Fort Worth; and two grandchildren.
Veta O. Votaw
ODESSA - Veta O. Votaw, 93, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Feb. 15, 1908, to Robert O. and Simmie McCown Stuart in Paris, Texas.
Mrs. Votaw moved to Odessa in 1927. She had lived in Odessa, Penwell and Goldsmith. She was a member of the Parkview Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Votaw; mother, Simmie S. Stuart; and sisters, Ninnie L. Steffey and Mildred L. Nolan.
Survivors are her sister, Cleta Wineberg of Odessa; son, Gordon S. Votaw of Odessa; daughter, Sara Easley of Kermit; grandsons, Jon Easley of Kermit, Jay and Robin Easley of Kermit, Jeff and Sarah Votaw of Midland and Jill and Kevin McCoy of Floresville; great-grandchildren, Megan, Jared and Brittany Easley of Kermit, Erica, Jeffrey, Adam and Ashley Votaw of Midland; nephews, David Clark of Odessa and Lowell Steffey of Paris; and niece, Jene’ Brown of Midland.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 29, 2001, at Parkview Church of Christ with Charles Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Alton Lewis Richardson
ODESSA - Alton Lewis Richardson, 1st Sgt. (Ret.), age 70, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at his residence. He was born March 22, 1931, to Robert and Euta Richardson in Rising Star.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2001, at Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord with the Revs. Preston Weatherly and James Otterness officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Richardson graduated from Odessa High School. After graduation at age 17, he joined the U.S. Army. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retirement in 1968, he returned to Odessa where he served as an ROTC instructor and administrator with the Ector, Odessa and Permian high schools. He was a major influence in the lives of many young people throughout his entire career.
He married
Yvette St. Louis May 7, 1971. They shared nearly 30 years together. He was very active in his church, serving on the church council and was active president three times. Mr. Richardson was 32nd degree mason with Fellowship Lodge No. 1385, AF and AM. Until the last few years, he had been active in the Downtown Lions Club. He had been a band booster president and was very involved in his children and grandchildren’s lives.
He is survived by his wife, Yvette Richardson of Odessa; son, Laurent St. Louis of Odessa; daughters, Michelle Little and Linda Fry of Odessa; brother, Earl Richardson of Long Island, N.Y.; sister, Delma Creamier of Redwood City, Calif.; grandchildren, Scott St. Louis, Adam St. Louis, Sean Little, Hayley Fry and Patrick Fry.

ODESSA - L.D. May, 85, of Odessa, a retired oilfield worker, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at an Odessa care center.

He was born in Mitchell County. He was Baptist.
