Oscar Valadez Sr.

MIDLAND - Oscar Valadez Sr., 63, of Midland, a migrant worker, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at a local hospital.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Jerome Burnett officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Reyes-Garcia Chapel. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery. Arrangements by Reyes-Garcia Funeral Home.

He was born in Weslaco and moved to Midland in 1979. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Richard Valadez and Mario Garcia, both of Midland, Oscar Valadez Jr. and Gilbert Valadez, both of Odessa, David Valadez of Kerrville, Raymond Ortega Valadez of Hobbs, N.M., Benito Valadez of San Antonio and Joe Valadez of Denver; daughters, Erma Flores of Midland, Elena Valadez and Ester Valadez, both of Greeley, Colo., Estella Birdwell of Indianapolis and Rosa Quintero of Artesia, N.M.; parents, Francisco Valadez and Enriqueta Valadez, both of Midland; brothers, Adan Valadez and Lupe Valadez, both of Midland; sisters, Irma Garcia and Eva Valadez, both of Midland; and 24 grandchildren.

William White

KERMIT - William "Buck" White, 89, of Kermit, a retired mechanic, died Friday, May 4, 2001, at Kermit Healthcare Center.

Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Monday at the Kermit cemetery with Russ Smith Sr. officiating. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.

He was born in Grandview, Okla., and was a resident of Kermit for 32 years. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Noma White of Kermit; sons, Bobby Harold Hardman of Bloomfield, N.M., and Gary Wayne Hardman of Clovis, N.M.; daughters, Donna Jean VanDerBerg of Bayfield, Colo., and Jacquelyn Norton of Kermit; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Arvil Talamantez

PECOS - Arvil F. Talamantez, 46, of Pecos died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Reeves County Hospital in Pecos.

Services are pending with Pecos Funeral Home.

Gavina Aragon

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. - Gavina Montoya Aragon, 77, of Alamogordo, N.M., a homemaker, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at a later date in Alamogordo. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel and Sears Funeral Home.

She was born in La Jara, N.M. She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Steve Aragon of Phoenix, James Aragon, Delfred Aragon, Sam Aragon and Johnny Aragon, all of Alamogordo, Ray Marvin Aragon and Lorenzo Aragon, both of Tularosa, N.M., and Anselmo Aragon of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughters, Angelina Aragon and Adria Lopez, both of Odessa, and Minerva Hurlbert of Brownwood; brothers, Oracio Montoya of La Jara and Jose Maria Montoya of Page, Ariz.; 38 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

David Brown Jr.

RANKIN - David "Pete" Brown Jr., 79, of Odessa, a retired general building contractor, died Monday, March 26, 2001, at his residence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Medley officiating. Burial will follow at the Rankin cemetery. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.

He was born in Panola County and was a resident of West Texas since 1948. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Stepdaughter, Bennie Miller of Gardendale; and sisters, Evelyn Summers of Marshall and June Bolen of Hurst.

Irene Myers

McCAMEY - Irene Myers, 72, of McCamey, a homemaker, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at the McCamey Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Creech officiating. Burial will follow at the Crane County cemetery. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.

She was born in Borger and was a longtime resident of McCamey. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Glynda Taylor of McCamey and Doris Tarpley of Crane; son, Billy Ray Myers of Kermit; 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Robert Moore

GRANDFALLS - Robert Howard Moore, 67, of Grandfalls, a retired teacher, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with Charles Nicholson officiating. Burial will be at the Tamarisk cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

He was born in Cross Cut and was a resident of Grandfalls since 1959. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Dixie Moore of Grandfalls; son, Robert A. Moore of San Angelo; daughters, Michelle Moore and Arlana Moore, both of Grandfalls, and Lori Kellogg of Arlington; brothers, Pat Ratliff of Long Grove, Okla., Mike Ratliff of Blanket, Cecil Moore of Irving, J.C. Elkins of Buda, Herman Moore of Brownwood and Lawrence Elkins of Saudi Arabia; sisters, Dorothy Hemphill and Helen Denison, both of Brownwood; and seven grandchildren.

Lisa Seawright

KERMIT - Lisa A. Smith Seawright, 46, of Hobbs, N.M., a homemaker, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Belvue Baptist Church with the Rev. Emmett Upchurch officiating. Arrangements by Bethany Funeral Home.

She was born in Memphis.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Max Seawright of Hobbs; daughter, Nikki Riley Rozzell of Chattanooga, Tenn.; sons, Bobby Riley of Hawley, Dustin Smith of San Diego and Casey Smith of Hobbs; sister, Susan Carter of Tulsa, Okla.; brother, Tim Carter of Kermit; and five grandchildren.

Daniel Ramos

ODESSA - Daniel Jacob Ramos, 2, of Odessa died Saturday, March 3, 2001, in Odessa.

Services are Monday at 2 p.m. at Rosehill, Babyland with the Rev. Gilberto Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Ector County cemetery in Odessa.

He was born in Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Mother, Maria Ramos of Odessa; and grandmother, Lupe Ramos of Odessa.

Wanda Williams Strickland

EASTLAND - Wanda L. Williams Strickland, 80, of Eastland, a retired supervisor at Mental Health Mental Retardation in Odessa, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Eastland Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Eastland City cemetery with the Rev. Jim Andrews officiating. Burial will follow at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland. Arrangements by Eastland Funeral Home.

She was born in Desdemona. She was Pentecostal.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Patsy McAfee of Eastland; sons, Carroll Williams of Midland and Larry Williams of Odessa; sister, Anita Hamilton of San Antonio; and nine grandchildren.

Vernon Scott

ODESSA - Vernon Scott, 75, of Odessa, a retired chef, died Monday, April 9, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Roscoe Sutton officiating. Burial will be at Ector County cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

He was born in Vernon and had been a resident of San Angelo before moving to Odessa. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Stepsons, Raymond Wilson of Odessa, Billy Joe Wilson and Bennie Wilson Jr., both of Bryan, Floyd Wilson of Austin and Odis Wilson of Houston; stepdaughter, Alberta Wilson-Bennett of Denver; brothers, William Scott of San Antonio and Matthew Scott Jr. of Denton; and sisters, Lillie Josey of San Angelo and Opal Jean Magers of Big Spring.

Narcissa Arreguy

ODESSA - Narcissa Arreguy, 90, of Pecos died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.

ODESSA - Billy Charles Holliman, 36, of Gardendale died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.

SAN ANGELO - LaVerne Blumentritt, 87, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village.

She was born in Erath County. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
