MIDLAND - Virginia Luna, 61, of Midland, a homemaker, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, in Midland.

Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Vogel officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Ellis Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.

She was born in Shafter and had been a resident of Alpine. She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Gabriel P. Luna Jr. of Midland; sons, Gabriel Luna III of Amarillo, Tom Luna of Midland and Orlando Luna of Norman, Okla.; daughter, Linda Franklin of Midland; sister, Dora Richartz of Memphis, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

Carlos Melendez

MARFA - Carlos Melendez, 49, of Laredo, a funeral director in Laredo, died Friday, May 11, 2001, at his residence.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Rick Ruiz officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Catholic cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.

He was born in Marfa. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

SURVIVORS: Son, Noe Melendez of Hobbs, N.M.; brothers, Rafael Melendez of Marfa and Manuel Melendez of Odessa; sisters, Corine Melendez of Marfa and Rose Mary Tovar of Hobbs; and a grandson.

Louis Miller

ODESSA - Louis James Miller, 76, of Odessa, a laboratory technician for Southwestern Portland Cement Co., died Monday, May 14, 2001, in Odessa.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Ector County cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

He was born in McGregor and was a resident of Odessa for 52 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Jerrye Miller of Odessa; sons, Anthony Miller of Dallas, Charles Baker of De Soto, Gayneal Baker of Livingston and Marvin McNeal of California; daughters, Zenda Rivers of Austin, Kathy Miller of Odessa, Earlene Quinn and Charlene Baker, both of Mesquite, and Shirley Cooper of Dallas; sisters, Opel Jones of Los Angeles; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Jeremiah Natividad

BALMORHEA - Jeremiah Natividad, three months old, of Alpine died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 7 p.m. today at the Balmorhea cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

He was born in Odessa. He was a Jehovah’s Witness.

SURVIVORS: Mother, Lorraine Natividad of Alpine; grandmother, Bernadette Castillo of Alpine; and great-grandparents, Cesaria Alvarez, Clemente Alvarez and Bertha Garcia, all of Balmorhea.

Daniel Secker

MIDLAND - Daniel Fishburne Secker, 61, of Midland, a certified public landman, died Monday, May 14, 2001, in Midland County.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Dyer officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Heflin cemetery in Brown County. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.

He was born in Charleston, S.C. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Mary Margaret Secker of Midland; daughter, Meredith Secker of Dallas; sons, Daniel Secker of Coleman and Walker Secker of College Station; stepson, Paul Byrom of Midland; stepdaughter, Marietta Metcalfe of Midland; parents, William and Mette Secker of Midland; brother, William Sheffield Secker of Fort Myers, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Dominga Contreras

IMPERIAL - Dominga Contreras, 93, of Imperial, a homemaker, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at a Crane nursing home.

Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the Old Community Center with the Rev. David Herrera officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at the center. Burial will be at the Imperial cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.

She was born in Balmorhea.

SURVIVORS: Son, Marcos Contreras of Pecos; daughter, Rosa Maria Jurado of Imperial; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Bessie Cooper

ODESSA - Bessie Lee Cooper, 85, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. William Tatum officiating. Burial will be at Ector County cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

She was born in Axtell. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Vessie Lee Cooper-Callaway of Odessa; son, Terry L. Belcher of Odessa; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ruby Cunningham

PECOS - Ruby J. Cunningham, 87, of Midland, a retired bookkeeper, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at Hospice House in Odessa.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.R. Wooten officiating. Burial will be at Mount Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

She was born in Addis, La. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Son, B.G. Johnson of Midland; brother, James H. Cleveland of Odessa; sisters, Lois Boulter of Branson, Mo., and Lillie Mae Lukins of Sweetwater; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

David Fann

MONUMENT, N.M. - David Hal Fann, 37, of Hobbs, N.M., an oilfield driver, died Thursday, April 19, 2001, in Hobbs.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Monument Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Fee officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens cemetery. Arrangements by Griffin Funeral Home.

He was born in Lubbock. He was Christian.

MONAHANS - Billie Thomas "Bill" Hammitt, 79, of Monahans, a retired oilfield worker, died Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Ward Memorial Hospital in Monahans.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Monahans Memorial cemetery with Randy Rives officiating. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

He was born in Thurber and was a longtime resident of Monahans. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Dale Hammitt of Monahans; son, Billy Don Hammitt of Haltom City; daughter, Peggy Hailes of Midland; sister, Marie Howard of Bakersfield, Calif.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Helen Kingrea

MIDLAND - Helen Louise Kingrea, 71, of Midland, a retired employee of Humble Oil and Gas Co., died Friday, April 20, 2001, at her residence.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gale Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.

She was born in Wink.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Terry Warlick of Midland and Lisa Marrs of Harrisburg, Penn.; sisters, Betty Rhodes of Corpus Christi, June Morris of Odessa and Ann Kight of Florissant, Mo.; and five grandchildren.

ODESSA - Don G. Lynn, 51, of Odessa, an oilfield caser, died Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Odessa Regional Hospital.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Prayer services will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.
