ANDREWS - Barbara Ann Brooks, 80, of Odessa, a retired sales clerk, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Andrews West cemetery with Jim E. Edwards officiating. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.

She was born in Middleboro, Mass., and was a resident of Odessa for 24 years.

SURVIVORS: Son, Jimmy Earl Edwards of Lake Mary, Fla.; daughter, Carolyn J. Balmain of Hooks; brother, Leonard Giovinetti of Los Angeles; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Mozelle Brown

ODESSA - Mozelle Brown, 72, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. R.T. McNeil officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

She was born in Marshall and was a lifelong resident of Odessa. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Sister, Curley Jenkins Buffins of Odessa; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pattie Butts

JAL, N.M. - Pattie M. Butts, 63, of Jal, N.M., pastor of First United Methodist Church in Jal, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Winkler County Memorial Hospital in Kermit.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Weyant officiating. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.

She was born in Caliente, Nev.

SURVIVORS: Son, Donald D. Butts of Stafford, Va.; daughters, Joni L. DiPatri and Jaynie Brookshire, both of Knoxville, Tenn.; sister, Bonnie Krause of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Patricia Duke

ODESSA - Patricia Ann Duke, 66, of Odessa, a retired licensed registered nurse, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Dennis officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Fairview, Okla. She was Protestant.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Sam Duke of Odessa; sons, Rick Duke of Fort Worth and Mark Duke of Odessa; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mary Hirt

ODESSA - Mary Lou Hirt, 82, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. today at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Strong, Ark., and was a longtime resident of Odessa. She was Baptist.

SURVIVOR: Husband, Elder Hirt of Odessa.

Sue Meyers

BIG SPRING - Sue Ann Bowman Meyers, 54, of Odessa, a nurse, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at an Odessa hospital.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jim Liggett officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. Arrangements by Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home.

She was born in Roanoke, Va., and was a resident of Odessa for seven years. She was Episcopalian.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Mark David Meyers of Albuquerque, N.M., and Edward Glenn Meyers of Bullhead City, Ariz.; daughter, Michelle Lynn Meyers of Odessa; mother, Elizabeth "Liza" Bowman of Big Spring; and five grandchildren.

Mary Summers

LEAGUE CITY - Mary B. "Grandma" Summers, 87, of League City, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Clearlake Regional Hospital in Webster.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jack Rowe Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Shield officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. Arrangements by Jack Rowe Funeral Home.

She was born in the Hill Country area and had been a resident of Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Jeannie Truscott of League City; son, Howard Gage of Odessa; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Christine Payne

ODESSA - Christine M. Payne, 89, of Odessa died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

L. Pearl Erwin

ODESSA - L. Pearl Erwin, 63, of Odessa died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, in Odessa.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tom Hiser officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

She was born in Brown. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: R. Duane Erwin of Odessa; sons, Michael Erwin, Bradley Erwin and Darren Erwin, all of Odessa; daughter, Brenda Erwin of Odessa; brothers, Roy Barrington and Ben Barrington, both of Lubbock; sister, Wanda McNiel of Lubbock; and six grandchildren.

Karen Lawson

ODESSA - Karen Lawson, 47, of Odessa died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at Odessa Regional Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

She was born in Vainbridge, Md.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Paul Lawson of Odessa; daughter, Shawnda Cardona of Abilene; and brother, John David Earnest of Odessa.

Juanita Matta

PECOS - Juanita M. Matta, 86, of Pecos, a homemaker, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, in Pecos.

Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday at Santa Rosa Catholic Church. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

She was born in Balmorhea and was a lifelong resident of Pecos. She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Felipe Matta of Odessa, Adan Matta, Cipriano Matta, Nolberto "Bird" Matta, all of Pecos; daughters, Erlinda Sauseda of Odessa and Eva Valencia of Pecos; brother, Santiago Matta of Pecos; sister, Amelia Valles of Pecos; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Precious McMarion

ODESSA - Precious McMarion Jr., 75, of Odessa, a truck driver, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Owen Sharp officiating. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

He was born in Bastrop. He was a Navy veteran. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Shirley McMarion of Odessa; four sons; four stepsons; three daughters; three stepdaughters; four sisters; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
