He was born in Grant, Okla. He was an Army veteran.

Geraldine Powell
FORT STOCKTON - Geraldine Powell, 89, of Groesbeck, a retired store owner, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, in Groesbeck.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at East Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
She was born in Odessa and moved to Groesbeck in 1990 from Fort Stockton. She was a member of the Assembly of God church.

BIG SPRING - Docia Fay Preston, 96, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at Parks Methodist Nursing Center.

She was born in Big Spring. She was Baptist.

Frank Tercero
Frank Tercero Sr., 75, beloved husband and father, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2000 at his Odessa residence.
He was born on Sept. 19, 1925 in Brogado, Texas, to Marcos and Faustina Tercero. He married
Basilia Rodriguez on September 22, 1958. Mr. Tercero, he served in World War II on the USS Boyd aircraft carrier from 1942 to 1946.
He faithfully served our Lord as member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, he owned and operated several small business, including Exxon, Arco, Texaco and Phillips gasoline stations in Balmorhea and Odessa, and retired in 1992.
He is survived by his wife: Basilia R. Tercero of Odessa, sons; Frank R. Tercero Jr. of Odessa, J.Carlos Tercero of Fort Worth, daughters; Teresa Fierro of Odessa, Lily F. Tercero of Fort Worth, brother; Billy H. Tercero of El Paso, sisters; Josepha Dalton of Ft. Lee, N.J., Alicia Moody of Grafton, OH, Ellena Gonzalez of Marfa, Texas, grandchildren; Katherine Fierro, Eric J. Fierro, Richard Tercero, Brenda T. Grijalba, Albert Tercero and Frank Tercero III. A rosary will be said today at 7:00 p.m. at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday January 3, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Francis Frey officiating. Military burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sabas Fierro, Phillip H. Carrasco, Joe Gonzales, Robert Chapa, Jose Anaya and Daniel Rodriguez Jr.

C.C. Carll
C.C. Carll peacefully passed away at his home in McCamey on the morning of December 30, 2000. He was the son of John Olney and Maggie Carll.
Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Monday, Jan. 1, at 10 a.m. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of McCamey.
C.C. Carll led a long and full life. He was born in a small Colorado town on Dec. 15, 1913. His family moved to McCamey in 1927 when his father was employed by an oil company. His father later became the Upton County Commissioner from McCamey.
Before C.C. purchased the McCamey, Rankin, Iraan and Crane newspapers, he was well known in the West Texas area, not for his interest in journalism, but for his talent in athletics. While a student in McCamey High School, C.C. had made a name for himself as a basketball player. From 1932 until 1936, Carll attended Sul Ross College and was a leading player of both basketball and football teams. After graduating, he became a high school boys’ basketball and football coach in McCamey for five years.
When World War II began in 1941, Carll was drafted into the United States Army. He served as a private and by the end of the war in 1946, held the rank of Major, Infantry Reserve, Retired.
In 1947, C.C. Carll became the full owner of the McCamey News and also the owner and publisher of The Rankin News, The Iraan News and The Crane News. C.C. continued to operate the business until he decided to retire on Jan. 1, 1980. During his news publishing career, he was also an active supporter of the McCamey I.S.D. He loved the outdoors and he loved fishing and hunting.
Mr. Carll is survived by his wife, Louise Carll, a daughter, Patricia Carll of Dallas, and two nieces, Penny Whaley of Mustang, Okla.; Lynn McNutt of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter, Lou Ann Carll, preceded him in death in 1958.
C.C. will be missed by his family, friends and pets.
Jeff Benney Bowden
ODESSA - Jeff Benney Bowden, 85, of Odessa, former owner of Ramco Fishing Tools and Astro Well Service, went to be with his Lord Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Parks Methodist Nursing Home.
He was respected throughout the oilfield industry. He was a fisherman and was well known through his work with Red Adair, Blow Out Fires, Inc. After the out-of-control fires were snuffed, Jeff would go in and fish the oil pipes out of the hole.
Jeff Bowden was loved and will be enormously missed by his family. He had a great sense of humor and was known for being a tremendous salesman. He could explain a complicated financial deal on a napkin.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Earnest Easley, pastor of First Baptist Church of Odessa, and Paul Cole, pastor of Hope Community Church in Southlake, will officiate.
Memorial donations can be made to the Gideons International, Odessa Gideons Camp, P.O. Box 11227, Odessa, Texas, 79760, after Jan. 2, 2001, in his name.
Jeff Bowden was born in Franklin County Oct. 18, 1915. He lived in Odessa from 1939 to the present. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Jeff was married
to Anna Marie Bowden July 25, 1969. His wife Anna preceded him in death July 14, 2000.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Joe Bowden and wife Noilene of Odessa and Bill Bowden and wife Kathy of Odessa; daughter, Lynn Barrington of Dallas; brother, Roscoe Bowden and wife Marie of Mount Pleasant; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Bowden is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

ODESSA - Concepcion Alvarado Sanchez, 81, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

ODESSA - Della Faye Brown, 89, of Monahans, a retired election judge for Ward County, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at her residence.
